  1. VL has nothing to prove, IMO VL’s rich tradition in athletics makes for a perfect addition to SIAC. PAC conference is in a good place. Strong with good athletic programs. Big 8 struggling and SIAC gets the two best programs in it. Win for all those involved. Plus Bobe’s Pizza > Sandy’s Pizza

  6. Swift justice. (Well, there is no justice for Penn-- they are still eliminated.) The IHSAA still needs to do much better in order to proactively stop these violations from occurring... and the Northridge Coach is clearly not a Math teacher. What's the point in having the Official Scorer keep track of Pitch Counts if they don't have the power to enforce the rule? In basketball, fouls are recorded by the Official Scorer & announced by the PA & on the scoreboard. They don't rely on each team to correctly track the number of fouls & then "self-report" when one of their players commits a 5th foul. So let's start with the Regional games on June 1st -- after the bottom of every inning, the PA announcer should give the Pitch Count totals for every pitcher as recorded by the Official Scorer. If a pitcher reaches the maximum, the Official Scorer should instruct the PA announcer to stop the game because a pitching change is required-- just like a basketball player who fouls out.

  9. Nothing is really changing at all with the coaching staff. We are bringing in Zach Whittaker from Jimtown and he will take over as the Defensive Coordinator. We also brought in a Triton alum in Kyle Bell to work with the receivers and DBs. Other than that we are looking forward to seeing what we will have going into August. We maybe young this year, but we will have a bunch of potential to continue building on the success we have had.

  10. Lincoln. Jasper’s biggest rival. In a conference that is falling apart in front of everyone’s eyes. Uncertain future if they stay, but willing to step up and play “the big boys” unlike another that has been discussed here. Makes sense. Gibson Southern. No affiliation with Jasper in football. Conference is stable and strong. Showed no inclination of wanting to move until the last hour. I personally could care less which school the SIAC took with Jasper. I like both schools that were mentioned here. So to me, I’ll go to Lincoln and Jasper when Reitz has games there, and you know what? I won’t gripe about them being brought into the conference. I am ok with driving an hour to see a game. Heck, been doing it for a very long time, and won’t be stopping anytime soon.

  13. https://reason.com/2019/05/26/make-school-hard-again/ Fantastic commentary by Mr. Nye. The system needs to changes, starting with educating our young that a 4-year college degree is not the only post-primary school path they should seriously consider. And the amount of "free money" flowing from the federal government's student loan program only serves to exacerbate the problem.
