  1. Mainly because it clears up SOME conflict questions. The pay will go back into the program and used to purchase things for the team and players that may not be able to afford practice packs, cleats, etc.

  2. I am Keith Nance. It is a HUGE understatement to say that this is less than an ideal situation for dozens of reasons. The obvious, we would all prefer to be standing beside and led by our dear friend Coach Bowsman. Secondly, the Superintendent being the head coach is obviously problematic. I have been fortunate to be allowed to work as a unpaid assistant/offensive coordinator while being the Superintendent for the last 5 years. I have coached for 20 as a varsity assistant all at WW, 19 with Phillip and 13 years as OC. It is my hobby, a passion and a chance to be close with kids and have a group of peers (coaching staff). It is my full intention to do this for one season only. For this team and these seniors. This team is special for a lot of reasons. One, they are good. BUT more importantly, they are extremely close and have been coached by Coach Bowsman since 3rd grade. The events of the last 5 months has only made them closer. Holden, Phillip's son and Quarterback/Captain will be a senior leading this team on the field. For all of them continuity was the #1 consideration. Honestly, this is putting my neck out professionally because it is controversial and already has some people spitting vitriol words, but this is about this team, these seniors and next season. And I would do anything for them.

  3. Maybe not a bad idea. Question, can I still wear a mask and dark sunglasses when I go banking??

  4. Thankfully the President basically has zero say the matter of when we go back to normalcy. Each state will decide that. And the only way to make that decision is with data. Data is king and none of what we have is accurate. With data we can start to get back to work without a vaccine....without data we are screwed. Having a fast and easy test available for every single american is the only way to obtain the data we need to make informed decisions.....without it we are guessing.

  5. I like the fact that you put it out there for everyone to see and understand. It's always about the student/athletes first. Good Luck Coach Keith Nance and tell your brother I still beat him in 1 on 1's at New Albany!!! Good Luck WW!! Coach Miller - Pike HS

  6. I just received a notice from the local HS (Illinois) that some schools are going to light up their fields Friday night at 8pm in honor of Healthcare Workers. If there any similar plan in Indiana?

  8. In writing this I did fail to mention a few things. 1) This is an interim title and will be for the 2020 season only. 2) I will NOT accept pay for this position or the summer stipend that is a part of the HC's pay.

  9. Just my opinion and you know what that is worth...but in a slow rolled return to normalcy...I believe we will see sports at all levels with zero or limited fans. Just like there could be a return to school but still maintaining social distance in other venues (particularly entertainment).

  10. True...but mitigating risk is what it is all about. 200 players and coaches at a HS football game is easier to swallow than 3,000 folks. I would support whatever it takes to get the games played.

  11. https://www.wsj.com/articles/nursing-homes-remain-a-concern-as-new-yorks-coronavirus-outbreak-appears-to-plateau-11586892250 New York City raised its likely death toll from coronavirus by 3,778 people on Tuesday afternoon, after city officials released new numbers counting people who were presumed to have died of the disease but who hadn’t tested positive for the virus. Until now, only people who died after testing positive for the virus were counted among its victims in New York in publicly released data. So the death rate wasn't supporting the actions, now we need "presume" someone probably had it.......I thought science was absolute, not a consensus......

  12. HA! Never wore hip pads. Do you reckon there’s a correlation between that and a hip replacement at 50?

  15. When was the last time someone died of smallpox? Or polio? Vaccines essentially eradicated those two horrible viral diseases. The hope is a vaccine may do the same to SARS-CoV-2. And please stop comparing COVID-19 to influenza. The comparison is inapposite and dangerous.

  17. Of course not. America has been subjected to this type of nonsense for over three years. The liberal mainstream media is the laughing stock of the world.

  18. We have made so many advances in treatment and testing in the last 6 weeks. Football is 14 weeks out until August. Due to China withholding information, this virus has only been worked on by some of the best medical minds in the world for 6 weeks. Let that set in. In another 6 weeks, if we make the strides we keep making, we will be WAY better off let alone 14 weeks. 3 weeks ago we were being told up to 240,000 deaths, that is down to now under 60,000. That is even with New York padding there stats. Hospitals are not even close to capacity of ICU beds. There are empty hospitals that were supposed to be full. They set up a couple thousand field hospital in Washington state, never used. New York NEVER used the Navy's hospital ship. Do not get drowned by watching the media. Is this bad... .YES. It is just not all doom and gloom, we are doing good. Keep up the work and we may see football come August or September. My bet is that we have a treatment by then. A vaccine will not cut this out, it will continue to mutate. We just need a treatment that keeps people out of the hospital and ICU..
