  1. The National Federation has changed the rule on low blocking in the free blocking zone. So, it may be useful to review that rule, just to get everyone current. The free blocking zone (FBZ) is an area that extends laterally 4 yds. to either side of the snap, and 3 yds behind both the offensive and defensive lines of scrimmage. A player is considered to be in the FBZ if any part of his body is in the FBZ at the snap. Blocking in the back is permitted in the FBZ when the following conditions are met: The block is by an offensive player The blocker is on the offensive line of scrimmage at the snap and within the FBZ The defender being blocked is in the FBZ at the snap The ball has not left the FBZ Blocking below the waist is permitted in the FBZ when the following conditions are met: Both the players are in the FBZ at the snap Both the players are on their respective lines of scrimmage at the snap The block occurs in the FBZ immediately at the snap. Important points: Only offensive players can block in the back. Either offensive or defensive players can block low. Although offensive players can block in the back, and either side can block below the waist, no one can clip.

  2. Well....one Hoosier bball team is making history. Huge props to the Lady Hoosiers for knocking off the number 1 seed in their region, NC State. Keep making history ladies

  3. Hopefully, they wouldn’t place it with one end zone so close to the building next door that the officials under the crossbar on a field goal or try have to worry about taking a ricochet in the back of the head.

  4. Maybe IU should hire Painter. He knows how to win at Assembly. I'll show myself out.

  5. Agreed Irish. My son and I were watching Hoosiers the other day, then the NCAA's at HF. I waited to see if he put "2 and 2 together". Sure enough, he noticed the sight lines and said, "Hey, that's the same place." BTW.....IMHO, every basketball player in the state of Indiana (maybe the country) needs to watch Hoosiers, or at least know the story of Milan.

  6. The 49ers threw their hat in the QB ring by moving up to #3. This pretty much guarantees that the first 3 picks in the draft will be QBs.

  7. I understand that folks can be a bit insular in looking at their teams...to a point, that particular pride can lead to future success and I will always encourage it. Good on you! Still, to be clear, as regards Columbus East picking up Chatard, as a Hoosier who is a bit proud as regards Indiana HS football (and a Chatard guy), I think it behooves me to actually compare and contrast a bit. In 2019 (per CalPreps/MaxPreps), Chatard was projected to defeat Louisville Male 34 to 21. Chatard was also projected to defeat Louisville Manual 40 to 12. In 2019, 3A Chatard ended the season in Indiana as the #3 team ALL CLASSES from 1A to 6A per CalPreps. Let’s repeat....#3 ALL CLASSES (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A). To also clarify, Columbus East has also found itself within the Top 10 All Classes in the last decade as well...or more than one occasion. In 2020, Chatard was projected to defeat Louisville Male 28 to 20. Chatard was also projected to defeat Louisville Manual 28 to 10. In 2020, Chatard ended the season in Indiana as the #6 team from 1A to 6A ALL CLASSES. Add that Columbus East has scheduled Whiteland who ended the season as the #10 team ALL CLASSES per Sagarin. With that, it’s great that Floyd Central is playing top flight competition and it’s a true path to getting better and I wish them well. Still, the time of achievement would appear to be when those games begin to get competitive. That is when the goal has been achieved.

  8. I've been thinking about going back to school and becoming a teacher. Most likely would want to be an upper elementary to middle school range teacher. I've got an associate's in a field that I'm not currently working in at the moment. The plan was to work for a bit and then go on to a bachelor's but life happened instead. Would it be worth my time to pursue the bachelor's for a teaching degree? How would my credits translate for my associate's as I work towards a bachelor's? I work with our youth program in an administration and coaching role. I wouldn't mind being able to work my way up the ranks to help a middle school, then high school, and possibly having a major role for a high school in the future.

  12. Mr. BigBH, Our December showcase was attended by the following schools. UIndy Marian St. Francis Olivet Nazerene Lawerence Tech North Central College Olivet (Michigan) Trine Anderson Depauw Franklin Hanover Manchester North Park University At previous showcases we have also had these other schools attend Mount Union Mt. St. Joseph Kentucky Christian Indiana Wesleyan Kentucky Wesleyan Lindsey Wilson Millikan Hocking College Union College, KY Our May event is going to be smaller than the showcase that was held in December. More like 100 players rather than 300. If there is a nearly equal or even potentially larger turnout of colleges that are in attendance, that means much more opportunity to be seen. I have no problem if you do not like the showcase system. It might not be for you. But it does work for some kids and all we are doing, as I have said before, is providing an opportunity. Not one athlete has ever been forced to attend. I will post the names of the schools that I have gotten confirmation from for the INDY spring showcase on May 1st. By the way, My name is Eric Schnur. I put it in my tag so that people know who I am. My record is 9-43, but for me it is just a reminder that things don't always turn out the way you intended. It is motivation to be better today and in the future. It does not define me, my last name does. I took a job that NO ONE else wanted, and I did it at a time when I was not fully prepared for what came along with it. I poured my heart into that job, and resigned when I felt I was out of potntial answers for the questons that were popping up. You said you, don't give a damn about me," but you are the one that looked me up. When I say college coaches are on sight, I mean that. We have never hosted a showcase that did not have at least ten. We have had as many as 21 at a single event. You should talk to some college coaches about who they recruit and when they start looking at them. I think that you might find your perception to be a bit off. Thank you, Coach Schnur

  13. I am sorry that you believe that I have done something wrong. I contact EVERY college at the FCS level and below in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky multiple times. I apologize to no one for my record as a head coach, it is the result of mistakes I made plus circumstances that I was not prepared to deal with at that point in my career. I have not only had kids that played on my teams come to the camps, I have driven players around the mid-west to events like the U-Indy Mega camp, Lindenwood Mega camp, Best of the Midwest, as well as indy showcase events at both Indiana and Purdue to hopefully help to get them opportunities to play in college. Every year of my tenure at Bosse, we had at least one player get an opportunity to leave Evansville and move on to play football in college. So throw your shade, it is fine, my record is what it is. We have had at least ten colleges represented at every one of our events over the last few years. I am peddling nothing but facts. Thank you for researching me, I find it flattering that you care about me so much. I do not have to defend myself, and will not be responding again. We run an event that is designed to help those who want to be helped. It costs money to run and my time is worth something as well. No one has ever been forced to attend one of these events. Thank you coach! I appreciate your support and knowing that there are good folks out here fighting to get their kids every chance possible to be successful later in life!

  15. Agreed. If you are concerned about a money making racket selling false hope, I suggest you head west from Westfield HS and check out Grand Park on a weekend. Plenty of empty promises at a travel soccer or baseball tournament.
