  2. To answer your question. Hammond schools are slotted to go back to in person schooling on 4/6 per NWI news outlets. Last I knew, Merrillville public schools were still not in person, though that may have changed since the last time I spoke to a friend of mine that teaches at MHS. I do not believe Gary schools have been in person at all this year. Maybe East Chicago too. Sorry if things have changed a bit.

  3. I believe that is what has caused the delay is trying to sort out how to handle the actual number of students for enrollment when you have students all over the place virtually and other wise seems to be a nightmare I honestly would be ok with everyone staying put (minus success factor) for 1 more year, then start the 2 year cycle then.

  5. SCOTUS has seemingly ignored 2A cases since McDonald and Heller. I suspect that was a calculated decision by the conservatives on the court. I would be willing to bet given the changes to the court over the last four years, that’s about to change. On the state front, contact your State Senator and urge them to put pressure on Liz Brown, chair of the senate judiciary committee and give a hearing to HB 1369, “constitutional carry bill”. This week is our last chance. I want to force a vote, it’s time all the RINO’s earn those NRA ratings they all like to run on.

  6. I think that was the whole idea. It’s not like they had a hidden agenda.

  7. Maybe not this year, but in the future. Then again, it’s good to see Jeffersonville is playing a fellow big school as opposed to a little one. I just liked the play on words: JEFFersonville vs. Lafayette JEFFerson. Yes, I’m that bored working from home.

  8. Heh heh, back in the early 1980's the freshman football team I was on had ONE coach, although sometimes an assistant coach from the JV/Varsity squad would wander over and help a little bit during practices. And this coach drove the school bus to away games.

  9. I am going to go out on a limb and say that there will be NO reclassification at the end of this school year for any sports.

  11. I think long term it will, because it finally allows teams to beef up their schedule. East already took advantage of the opportunity. The other schools can now follow suit.

  13. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/2021/03/25/mark-baltz-honored-for-25-year-career-by-nfl-referees-group/43480803/ Many of you may know Mark. I’ve had the pleasure of calling him a friend for many years. He’s one of those guys with an incredibly successful career, who never stops giving back. Whether they know it or not, every official in Indiana owes Mark for the tireless work he’s done over the years to advance the interests of Indiana officials. With everything else he had going, Mark took time to be a founding Executive Board member of the Indiana Football Officials Association, and is still active today. Mark Baltz honored for 25-year career by NFL Referees group AP View Comments WASHINGTON (AP) — The National Football League Referees Association has named Mark Baltz its 2021 Annual Honoree for his 25-year career as an official and another 15 years as its treasurer. The NFLRA announced the honor Thursday. Baltz called it an honor being selected by his friends and peers both on the field and on the NFLRA board. “Lifetime friendships were formed during those 25 great years, which served as the second half of my wonderfully rewarding 50-year sports officiating career," Baltz said. Baltz was a head linesman in a career that started in 1989 and went through 2013. He worked 21 postseason games, including five conference championships. He also worked as a referee for three seasons in NFL Europe. He was elected treasurer of the NFLRA's board of directors in 2000 and stayed in that job through 2014. “He has given so much to our officiating community, and we are honored to celebrate his career and accomplishments," NFLRA President Tony Steratore said. A native of Lancaster, Ohio, Baltz started officiating while in college at Ohio University and was working high school football and basketball games by the time he was 19. He started officiating in college in 1984 with the Mid-American Conference and then the Big Ten.
