  1. Irish land a 4 star running back from the class of 2023. https://247sports.com/college/notre-dame/Article/Jayden-Limar-commits-to-Notre-Dame-football-Four-Star-Running-Back-Class-of-2023-Fighting-Irish-Marcus-Freeman-188004760/ Top247 RB Jayden Limar breaks down commitment to Notre Dame Lake Stevens (Wash.) running back Jayden Limar is headed to South Bend. The West's top running back in the 2023 class just announced his commitment to Notre Dame moments ago. And he's excited to begin his career with the Irish. "The biggest reason I chose Notre Dame is the relationship I built with the coaches and what they can do for you after football," said Limar. "Back in April, a little after coach (Deland) McCullough got hired, I knew they were going to be the school for me." In fact, McCullough was one of the first people to hear the news. "I told coach (Marcus) Freeman than coach Deland than coach Tommy (Rees) but Chad Bowden (Notre Dame's program director) was the first to know," said Limar. "They were all very hyped and I caught most of them off guard and they are all very excited about the future." Limar said his family was completely on board with his decision. "My family helped me make the decision and we’re all for Notre Dame," said Limar. "I have a lot of Catholic family that are also very excited." Now Limar is immediately turning to a recruiter for the Irish. "I'm trying to recruit any quarterback that I can get," said Limar. "I feel like we get a good quarterback in our class and we are set. I am also going to try to get in-state players like Caleb Presley." Limar said the distance from home never made a big impact on him. "Distance wasn’t a huge factor because even if you stay close to home, you only really get to go home when they give you time off and everybody gets around the same time off," said Limar. Limar said he's done with his recruitment and ready to focus on his senior year. "I'm 100% committed to Notre Dame," said Limar. "It’s a huge relief to be committed. I’ve been pretty stressed lately with all of it so I’m happy to get that weight off my shoulders" Limar said he plans to enroll early, getting to South Bend next January. A four-star in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, Limar is the No. 11 running back by 247Sports while the composite ranks him as the No. 15 running back nationally and both the composite and 247Sports tab him as the No. 4 prospect in the state of Washington in the class of 2023. Jayden Limar Scouting Report: He is well built with good wiggle and shiftiness, with a frame that should add some more weight. He does a good job anticipating his linemen clearing the way, being decisive in his hole selection, putting his foot in the ground and getting up field. Limar sees the field extremely well, runs with good balance and can get yards after contact. He does a good job of churning out some tough yards. Can continue to get stronger, with his speed already there.

  2. I was sitting in the stands for a game last season where parents of players on the winning team were literally yelling at their own sons to fall down so they wouldn't score again so quickly! The current rule should be expanded to any time in the game. I don't think I've ever seen a team down by 35 come back and win it. If we're trying to end blowouts quicker there's no reason to wait. Lawrenceburg beat Rushville 91-12 last year! And that's not even the game I was referencing above. If you want to make it 42 instead of 35 doesn't matter to me. But we need it in the first half.

  4. Maybe if we had Medicare for All, we could have avoided this "mental health crisis".

  5. I wonder if anyone can think of an example historically of a successful government attempt to legislate morality. Let’s not kid ourselves. That’s exactly what this is.

  6. I know, I know. Statistics... Curiosity...I know, and that person CAN get a gun. Sickening. I believe our SROs may have acted differently, but I don't know what they're supposed to/trained to do.

  7. Leo was running the T in 07, 08, & in 09 started to mix in more spread. as someone who was fairly successful against them they scared me way more in the T than the spread.

  8. A little levity... I can only speak for my lunch and facebook crowd, but you'll likely have an even worse teacher shortage if they ask us to be armed. I've been trained in firearms. At the moment, I don't choose to carry. I don't want to carry in a school setting.

  9. I can't give an emoji, so here's an Amen, an Aye, and a Here-here! The same people don't even want us choosing books, but here's a gun??????

  10. I’ve heard statistics in the wake of the recent well-publicized mass shootings that “[insert really high percentage] of the American an people want meaningful gun control, such as more and better background checks, closing gun show loopholes, magazine size limits, banning “assault” weapons, ad infinitum.” I don’t believe them any more than I believe the statistics I hear coming from the other side. I’m not advocating for anything. Just offering my opinion that none of that can come to pass with SCOTUS composed as is, and Congress being what it is. Except, there is a clear path to significant reform. Notice I didn’t say an “easy” path. Repeal the Second Amendment, or at least amend it. It’s been done before. The 21st Amendment repealed the 18th Amendment (Prohibition). There are basically 4 ways to do this: The proposed Amendment passes Congress by a 2/3 supermajority, and is ratified by either 3/4 of the state legislatures or special conventions held in 3/4 of the states, or the proposed Amendment is passed at a national convention called by congress when requested by 2/3 of the states, and then ratified by either 3/4 of the state legislatures or special conventions held in 3/4 of the states. If, the support for radical gun control is as widespread as some claim, why isn’t there movement in this direction?

  11. I think that Zionsville's culture and recent history of success allows them to get the benefit of the doubt...at least from me. They have great culture and one of, if not THE lowest free/reduced rate (you HAD to know I was going there) of any public school in the state. If they are indeed "down" this fall, it won't be for long.

  12. Just change a few words here and there, and you’ve described the officials shortage in a nutshell. Makes me wonder if there isn’t a common cause in there somewhere.

  13. Teaching is harder than it's ever been and teacher pay in Indiana doesn't compare well to surrounding states. Many schools haven't redone their coaching pay scales in 20+ years (hard to up coaching pay when teacher pay is lagging so far behind). Finding assistant coaches is harder than ever as the number of young people entering education continues to decline. Then there is the expectation by parents that with 2 assistants at the school and with your $7000 stipend that the program should resemble a small college, all while being one of the most widely criticized humans in a given school district............. it becomes a less and less attractive job every year. Some schools invest more than others and are rewarded with a stable coaching staff and with that stability often comes success. Other schools choose to constantly band aid the situation and ignore the facts of what it takes to run a competitive program in 2022. Those places will continue to struggle.

  14. R.I.P. Ray Liotta https://www.avclub.com/r-i-p-ray-liotta-goodfellas-1848981438 Wow. He was too young. Truly an American Icon. He will be missed.

  15. Statistically, I know I know, folks who have a license to carry a hand gun commit crimes at a rate lower than law enforcement. But every “solution” to gun violence will only affect the people who commit the least amount of crime. Just out of curiosity have any of you ever tried to get psychological help for someone? If you have you know.

  16. SF isn't advocating arming all teachers, especially if there is no desire on a teacher's part, or if they are opposed to firearms, but allowing staff to be armed if they so desired and went through specialized training if it were available. More palatable perhaps would be to allow schools to have retired LEO's or military volunteers to be present and armed. New York is floating a law to make long guns illegal to own until 21 yo. I can buy into that, but I think the problem isn't guns - it's people. Guns have always been around. I wonder where that kid, a senior in HS, working at a fast-food restaurant living on his grandmother's floor got the money to purchase the weapons he had. One he used was identified as a DDM4 (about $1,800 https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/daniel-defense-ddm4-v7-semi-auto-rifle ) with a $700 sight on it. The other one that hasn't been identified I would assume would be about the same cost. Combined with 375 rounds of ammunition ( https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/federal-american-eagle-military-grade-brass-centerfire-rifle-cartridges ) and this kid would have needed about $5,000 to get his guns and ammo. I guess it's not impossible, but wouldn't someone in his immediate family throw up a red flag? Probably not - because Grandpa had a criminal background and "would have reported it" had he known his Grandson bought those weapons since he is not allowed to have guns in the house. ( https://abcnews.go.com/US/texas-school-shooting-suspects-grandfather-speaks/story?id=84966002 ) Young Sal was living with his grandparents since he had a falling out with his mother. His argument that morning with his Grandma was over an unpaid phone bill. Again - guns have always been around, and they don't fire by themselves......

  17. Apparently first place medals are more important than LGBTQ discrimination. Conservatives love saying "F your feelings" until it's their feelings being hurt. I'm absolutely appalled at how this country has been stepping away from progress so much lately. I've always felt that participation is more important than winning when you truly enjoy the sport that you're playing. At this point it's obvious to me that conservatives and liberals are wired differently. I just want all of the hatred and fighting to stop.
