  1. I don’t understand all of the blanket categorizing of all private. Sure a few are bad at recruiting but up here in the Fort, ALL of the public schools are much much much worse with recruiting. and I don’t think Indy is any different. Cathedral is the worst offender, however. My point being the amount of moaning by public schools is sad. And they do it too

  2. We are lucky to have some homegrown coaches. Having someone to lead like Coach Newton who comes from a culture of success at Lewis Cass and other assistants from places with cultures of success like Brownstown Central and Columbus East has been invaluable.

  4. I like the skill guys at Memorial this year, lots of potential in this group especially given how quickly they got out of the gate. Which teams will improve the most over the next three games? Going to be an interesting matchup with the Panthers.

  5. I agree it’s the most important. Fisher has been good, but I saw some clips of Wagner at Bosse the last two weeks and he might be special. Paper said he had over 300 yards close to 100 rushing and caught a TD of 60+ yards. Fisher definitely has a better support system but I can’t wait to see the Wagner kid in person.

  7. Xavier Thomas was a game breaker. I agree that Combs was the best player of the last ten years. Vera at QB was one. The kid from Castle looks to have that potential this year. You can win in 1A 2A without one. You can’t in 4a and above. I’m not taking anything away from Memorial this year. They are going to be very good. My point was they are missing one kid who could take them to Indy. Years past they did. Both Combs, Irvin, Brodie had that ability etc. This isn’t a dump on a team post it’s just an opinion on what it takes to have a special year. To add to that Reitz lost early so it’s not a guarantee it’s just a part of what it takes.

  8. Thanks. The play occurred with 4:41 remaining in the first half (1:02:15 of the video). You are correct. The receivers never had possession, so it was still a kick when recovered by the kickers. It’s the kickers’ ball at the spot of the recovery, but they cannot advance it. This was, unfortunately, an inexcusable officiating error. Glad it didn’t affect the outcome.

  9. Why is every game in this series at Brownsburg?

  10. Calpreps has Warren Central listed at #31 in Indiana. I tend to agree with Calpreps. They have an easy one next week against North Central to get them in the win column. Then they will struggle with Lawrence Central and Ben Davis. I could see Warren Central going 2-7 or 3-6 come seasons end. I think best case for WC is to go 4-5 in regular season.

  11. I say it every year about Brownsburg…I need to see it in October/November. The Bulldogs have multiple August state titles.

  12. Please don’t give any credit to Fort Wayne area teams. It is blasphemy!!!
