This was the poorly constructed 2019 grouping:
As you mentioned - a LOT of fluctuation in the Southwest corner of the state.
Brown County (2A), Pike Central (2A), and Sullivan (2A) as well as Washington (4A) are no longer in 3A.
Brownstown and Salem (Both 2A) and Bosse & Charlestown (4A) are also out of the mix.
There would need to be some serious rationalizing to put a West Vigo, Owen Valley, or Corydon in place of the 8 schools that would make up the SW Indiana 3A Sectional.
It was pretty cool. The city of Frankfort was literally right on the line of totality. If you were on the northwest side of town you were out of the zone while if you were in the southeast side of town you were in the zone. We ended up driving a few miles east and south and found a good quiet spot near Kirklin, surrounded by fields. After the event the traffic going north on U.S. 421 north between Kirklin and Frankfort was very, very, very, busy. Easily the most traffic I have ever seen on that road.
I totally get what you are saying, seems like adults trying to manufacture a level of excitement for the players. It just looks/ feels flat. That said, short of Marcus Freeman coming around that corner as the new HC, who would have delivered the level of excitement the administration was hoping to receive. But winning has a way of generating excitement, that will be the real test.
The prevailing sentiment in the Region.
Just keep in mind that HC has overmatched quite a few teams in the last few seasons. There are bound to be some sour grapes out there.
