  1. With the closed conference schedule, not much to get worked up about with Sagarin until week 11 or 12. Perhaps one day there will be expansion and divisions, which means a chance to slide in some non-conference games.
  2. Coach said they were switching to the Wing T on offense and 6-2 stack monster on D
  3. Somehow it slipped off my radar this year. Not sure how/why. I watched the first quarter replay last night after the fact. Seemed fairly even, although you could tell the South’s DL was gonna cause some issues. And the RB from Brownsburg was extremely impressive.
  4. Klem’s accolades are well known. Campbell is a new name to me.
  5. Based on the photos it looks like a Tug of War tournament… and some skinny guys decided to play catch. lol
  6. The lineman dominance of a wishbone team vs the passing skills of a spread team. Tale as old as time! Should make for two great matchups this year.
  7. My only distinction is between titles won on the field/court vs ‘mythical’ titles. In 1956 (or pretty much any year prior to the 80’s) Team A was 10-0 and claims a title because of a press vote. That’s not the same as a team that won via tournament. JMHO
  8. Rumor is they moved all the dirt from Castle’s crown to a hole in Arizona. Now the Grand Canyon is only the ‘Moderately good’ Canyon.
  9. I have a friend who lives in the Decatur, IL area. I have seen some highlights of Rochester online. Their screen/quick passing game is something else. Should be a good matchup with lots of offense - and I would bet the over.
  10. I hate that a local school can't offer both Mechanical Engineering and FCS football like they did 25 years ago.
  11. I'm curious the net effect on Jasper as well. Memorial and VL were already on their schedule, but they gave up HH and SR games to pick up Reitz and Castle. Bosse, Harrison, and Central gates would probably be less than Wash, BV, and MTV.
  12. He did seem very interested in Memorial's "success", that is for sure.
  13. I think this is what he was referencing: And after SIAC teams needing to schedule Quincy (IL), Detroit, Owensboro, OCatholic, and St. Louis schools in week 2, I would agree that it's a pain.
  14. Dugger and Wood Memorial. Two schools who don’t play 11 man football anymore were in the SW7.
  15. He fell victim to one of the classic blunders. First. Never get into a land war in Asia. The Second. Never argue meat packing with a Titan fan.
  16. Mater Dei was 3A for four years circa 2003-2006. I believe that was the one and only time the IHSAA tried to do a four-year enrollment classification. I think the Wildcats played both Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern a few times during those postseason‘s.
  17. I can’t imagine a fully seeded semi state or regional as long as there is an all-in tournament. (Which isn’t going away.) Imagine last year for example. Hey, Princeton, you were 1-8. So for your sectional game you will be on the road against Batesville (or Lawrenceburg).
  18. I guess we just assume a SIAC school will win Sectional 32, so that's why we are talking about it? 😄 Although 24 has been won by an SIAC school since 2013 - and that was Jasper's Big 8 days. At least I think that is the case.
  19. Big news for the Bulldogs. Congrats, Bosse! https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/04/19/bosses-enlow-field-will-be-upgraded-with-new-turf-field-stadium-roof/73278322007/
  20. I think Castle will be improved and should crack the top 10. Maybe slotted in for Bloomington North around 9. East Central really intrigues me too. I think they could have won 5A last year, but they will have to replace almost every offensive skill player, including Mr. Football. Weeks 1-3 and 9 are the only games where you could judge their relative strength until playoffs.
  21. This was the poorly constructed 2019 grouping: As you mentioned - a LOT of fluctuation in the Southwest corner of the state. Brown County (2A), Pike Central (2A), and Sullivan (2A) as well as Washington (4A) are no longer in 3A. Brownstown and Salem (Both 2A) and Bosse & Charlestown (4A) are also out of the mix. There would need to be some serious rationalizing to put a West Vigo, Owen Valley, or Corydon in place of the 8 schools that would make up the SW Indiana 3A Sectional.
  22. I don't know that this is true. Seeding itself would not cause conferences to break up. A playoff qualifying proposal would though, IMO. Last year's 2-7 Mater Dei team may not have qualified, but were a 12th man on the field away from competing for a deep playoff run.
  23. With Boonville and now Washington already there. South Spencer, Forest Park dropping to 1A and Pike to 2A - I think maybe the PAC should split permanently. Maybe even call up SR to the big leagues, unless they are hell bent on padding the trophy case.
  24. HH- GS is going to end up being like Brownstown- Lawrenceburg. 2016-17 Semi state one year, sectional semifinal the next.
  25. Mater Dei and Memorial both move into 3A. They were in the same sectional during the mid-00’s but will be again.
