I was curious to know what schools out there use a nickname for a specific sport that differs from the nickname the school is known by overall.

For example:

Columbus North is the Bull Dogs but are the Bull Frogs in swimming.

Columbus East is the Olympians but are the H2Olympians (or H2Os for short) in swimming.

Columbus East also used to be known as the Olympi-Anns in girls sports in the 80s.

This is cheating because it is actually a private club who members are all CHS students but the Carmel ice hockey team is known as the Icehounds.

Bellmont HS boys’ teams are the Braves. The girls’ teams are the squaws

Plymouth's football team is the Rockies. All its other teams are the Pilgrims.

I am fairly certain their wrestling program is also referred to as the Rockies.

AC's wrestling program is referred to as the BAGUBAS more than the Flying Jets. They are technically both, but the acronym is used more than the school nickname.

In a similar situation, Bishop Chatard and Cathedral join for some club sports (hockey and rugby). They go by the Royal Irish.

I had to look that one up. Never heard of BAGUBA before.

Brutally Aggressive Guys Uninhibited By Adversity believe Coach Humble may have been the first to use it there.
