Agree or not, high school football (and many other sports) have become cutthroat and are following the college model, particularly at larger schools.

Sure there are stories off of the field that many folks don’t know but my message is regarding the product on the field.

Both winning and developing young men of high character can be accomplished but also can be independent of one another.

Don’t doubt he did the latter but the proof is in the pudding as it relates to the former.

I don’t think you said anything incorrect or in poor taste.  This is a message board with banter back and forth.  Sometimes nerves get hit and people lash out. 

Now, I do think the new coach will have great assets with Coach K and Moyer still in the AD office to help.  And Coach E on staff.  
 

Any idea what the new HC will be teaching/day job?

I’d make the opposite argument, specifically regarding K…not sure I’d want to come in a try to build/create a new culture with the previous guy (a hall of famer at that) looking over my shoulder.

They must do things differently in Indy. What school system is WC part of? In Fort Wayne, the head coach must be an employed teacher.

I like it better than the picture of my garage he had posted yesterday. I have screenshots if you wanna see.

He and @Sparty teamed up for some next level stalking stuff right there.

But, Saul Goodman, I ain't mad at ya! It was worth it seeing that $30 donation get pinched out. Hopefully @Sparty's is in the snail mail like he promised us last week.

You don't have "lay coaches" in Fort Wayne...meaning people that just coach that aren't teachers? 

Warren Central is part of the MSD of Warren Township. I believe Coach Kirschner is licensed in business and health and PE, but don't quote me on that. Coach Kirschner is currently the Athletic Director at Warren. He was the PE Department Chair when he was at Ben Davis and taught business law before he was the HC (he was an accountant when he started coaching).

Coach Whitaker's X bio indicates he's a PE teacher. The number of duties, classes, etc. and expectations will be up to Warren.

I can't speak for Homestead, Carroll, Leo, or New Haven since they are just burbs representing different school systems. But at FWCS (Snider, Northrop, North Side, South Side, & Wayne), the head football coach has to be a licensed school teacher. So they have the responsibility of several kids from an educational standpoint throughout the day...........on top of their coaching responsibilites. It's a bit of a disadvantage, but makes financial sense I guess.

Just FYI, Coach Whitaker appears to be licensed as a teacher per the educator lookup.

Are you sure this is a rule or is it just for football? I know for a fact the former basketball coach at Wayne was not an employed teacher

I looked on John Harrell's website and I couldn't find Damon Bailey as a coach at Bedford. There is no coach listed from 1996-2001, between Randy Johnson and Jeff Callahan. Is this when Bailey coached the Stars?

Damon Bailey is listed as the HC from 2005-2007 and then as the Girls HC 2013-2014

Does provide the advantage of being in the hallways throughout the day and feeling the pulse daily.  Sometimes can find some gems walking the halls that don't initially show up for the first seasonal practices.
