If the activity is offered by a taxpayer funded entity within the community in which I reside then I should have a voice.  Do you agree?

Perhaps in your own community in which people are elected by local constituents.  But for other communities, its really not much of your business.

But if your only criteria for student involvement for sports programs in based on what you deem success (wins and losses) not sure if your voice means much to administrators.

And I have never said otherwise on this forum.

I keep hearing this mantra on the GID of "wins and losses doesn't equal success when it comes to high football programs".   Please, elaborate on the objective specifics of  these other criteria of high school football success.  And then find me an Indiana high school football head coach that is still coaching at the same school after say, 4-5 seasons with an aggregate W-L record less than 33%.   I would suspect there are very few, if any, of these.

Tenure criteria for head coaches remaining in their position, and cancellation of any given athletic program are not the same thing.  You know as well as I that in so many cases, wins and losses are cyclic, and in many cases dependent on the talent coming through during that period.

I am not going to explain to you the benefits of football beyond W's/L's.  If you played the sport, you already know.  If you haven't ever played the sport, well I don't have the time nor the inclination to explain it to you.

Agree.  But if a high school football program has multiple head coaches over multiple years and still the aggregate W-L percentage is very, very low, what does that tell you?

Yet another dodge.

Haven't found the right guy at the right time?  LCC was 27-64, less than 30%, from '78-'86 across four coaches ... the best of which ended up with a 10-10 career record at LCC.

That the program may be in a cycle with less talent and/or the right coach had not been hired.  But it only takes the right hire to perhaps change everything.

Center Grove had ONE sectional title in its history before HC Eric Moore.  It doesn't mean the football program had little value prior to Coach Moore.  Look what has happened in his 2 decades of tenure since.  Now a consistent state powerhouse.  Sure glad the administrators didn't vote to eliminate the program prior to Moore.

No dodge at all.  If a person has played the game of football, they understand the inherit value to a young man playing the game, and how those lessons learned apply across life.  Additional explanation is not needed.

So what would you tell the parent of a potential athlete whose is on the fence about letting their child participate in tackle football?  That they just need to "understand the inherent value"?

The school and or community is “broken”.

Yes, if I were a coach and a child was on the fence about participating, I would talk to him (and mommy & daddy if needed) about the values of the sport, beyond winning and losing.  Hopefully, they would see the potential in what I as a coach would be teaching their child in this activity.

Now, done going down your rabbit hole.  Have a nice weekend.  Get outside...the weather is awesome!

Nah, they’ve all outgrown the MIC.

The HCC is where the big boy football is played now.

Honest question.  If CG were admitted back into the MIC how many conference titles would they win in a 10 year span?

I’ll place the over/under at 7.5.

Remind me of the title distribution for the mic+2 vs the hcc over the last decade

Is that with or without Carmel? And ten years is a tough bet, who will be their coach in ten years? With the right coaching staff, CG could be in a world of trouble against Ben Davis.

I’d prefer to use head to head.

So under.

Any other takers?

Sure, you can add Carmel…even though I don’t see a path back to the MIC for them.

Decided to fact check myself since the last decade was noted.  Pretty remarkable.

Can't get much closer than this.

The HCC is 63-61 head to head against the MIC in the last 10 years.

Brownsburg - 11-7 (.611)

Hamilton Southeastern - 12-8 (.600)

Westfield - 6-4 (.600)

Avon - 8-12 (.400)

Noblesville - 1-8 (.111)

Franklin Central - 0-8 (.000)

(vs the HCC)

Warren Central - 1-0 (1.000)

Carmel - 14-5 (.737)

Center Grove - 8-3 (.727)

Lawrence North - 8-3 (.727)

Ben Davis - 12-11 (.522)

North Central - 9-13 (.409)

Pike - 7-20 (.259)

Lawrence Central - 0-8 (.000)

I don't know....in 39 years of the largest class of state football, HCC has won 2 titles......not a huge sample size.

I think Carmel and CG would absolutely consider moving back into the MIC if invited...while attendance for football was a factor, it was really about the other sports that drove them looking outside.  Given the challenges of finding games, I think the MIC would absolutely be a major option for both schools, and if they return, MIC moves back to the top.  They would have the big 4 plus LN...as Coach Mallory has really led that program.

Man, the HCC is JUST beginning.  If the HCC removed the “2 worst athletically performing schools”  (just for an example here) and added Carmel and CG, HAVE MERCY.  What a genuine, geographically central superior conference.

And I don’t even know what 2 schools that would be??????   Anyone closer have a guess?????
