23andCounting Posted March 4 Posted March 4 The IMG isn't barred in Texas, but it's more of a state wide agreement among schools not to play them. I believe there's a rule in California that prevents the IMG from playing there. It's either recruiting or desperation. I'm not sure why else the IMG academy would want to play a 4A school from Indiana. Quote

tango Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Curious as to how many kids from New Pal have gone on to play at the next level? Quote

jets Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Interesting that certain States in the U.S. have taken a stance (either officially or unofficially) from playing IMG...(would they be considered a "prep school"??) Would you guys be in favor of such a stance here in Indiana?? I think I would.... An as an aside - doesn't Indiana have one of these pretty prestigious prep school up in Northern Indiana for basketball?? Who do they play all year?? Any Indiana schools? Quote

Impartial_Observer Posted March 4 Posted March 4 My main point being, I’m here for education based sports. IMG is not education based sports, it’s something entirely different and I chose not to support their business model. I’m here for the kid who’s going to end up being my insurance agent. 5 Quote

Is that by their design - or by ours (coaches and/or IHSAA?) Obviously- football hasn't taken that stance (didn't Ben Davis play IMG not too long ago?) ....maybe we should? Quote

Given the IHSAA's history and hands off approach to the day-to-day operations of athletic department scheduling (as long as you're not going 300 miles from the state line), I don't think they would get into individual schools and who they schedule. When BD played IMG, I heard that technically you're supposed to be a member of the other state's athletic organization for the IHSAA to officially sanction the game. That was all rumor and innuendo, though. IMG is not a member of the Florida association. Edited March 4 by BDGiant93 Quote

US31 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 The first part of my statement was an honest question.....an earlier post seemed to indicate they will pay to get a game scheduled? Is that what was being said. The second part was just that in recent trips, I have heard that IMG "folks" were encouraging some opponent players to take a closer look at their program. Quote
tango Posted March 4 Posted March 4 NewPal is an incredible program, but it doesn't seem to me to have enough upper tier D1 talent to give IMG Academy a ROI for making the long haul to Indiana as a recruiting trip. Seems to me both schools schools just needed a game. 1 Quote
jets Posted March 4 Posted March 4 After giving it some thought - I think we should (Indiana) take a similar approach that TX and GA have and say no games with these prep school Academies. I don't (personally) agree with the model, so I don't want to help give it traction. 1 Quote

They have 3 teams. 1 National, 1 Jr. National, and 1 State team that plays Florida schools. They haven't won a "national title" since 2023. Quote

Not mad at New Pal for picking up the game in the least...mine was more of a generalized statement and honestly, hadnt given it much thought before today. Quote

How does New Pal or Ben Davis playing IMG impact Southridge? 1 Quote
