Serious question: why is this topic still open?

Why does it need to be closed? If/when any additional information comes out about the situation (as reported by a news source and not a rumor), could/would that not be able to be discussed here?

Per the JGSC Superintendent and reported by Angelo Di Carlo (WHME-TV 46 Sports) - John Barron has resigned from all positions at John Glenn High School, including the head football coach position.

Was coaching a game against Plymouth many years ago....this was one of those years that the rubber bracelets the guys wore were a point of emphasis.

We kicked off to them, as they lined up for their first play from scrimmage....just as everyone came set there was a flag thrown....NOTHING had happened yet.

I was standing next to the linesman on our side and made a comment out loud to the effect of "What the heck was that...nothing has happened yet?"...on his way out onto field linesman says over his shoulder "I'll tell you in a second, you won't beleive it."

Apparently, before pregame Coach Barron had made a big deal to his guys about making sure they all were uniform legal, specifically mentioned the bracelets.  During pregame one of their best players is out there with several of them on.  So Coach Barron told the crew...."I want to you to flag that kid on the first play." (Which technically is a flag on Barron I believe? @Bobref?)

They did so, and that kid never saw the field after that....and again, he was one of their better players.  My favorite John Barron story.

That's not a link. A search of the site using the name Barron only brings up posts from this thread.

Correct. And not just a flag. It’s unsportsmanlike conduct. If he would somehow pick up another one during the game, he’d be on the bus.

Under Rule 1-5-3(a)(5), this is an illegal uniform adornment.

All you had to do was scroll to the next page on here.  Simple really.  Good day.

All it took was someone smart enough to post the link. Thanks to @Sailors

And anyone who know's Coach Barron is aware that the chances of that are NOT 0% 🤣

SO - is there any ramifications to the school/district/student who brought these false allegations forth?? Seems like, just looking at it from the outside - a vindictive student completely ruins a guys life (I mean, from what I'm reading - the Coach was fired from his position, correct? So assuming that means he had to find a job outside of the education profession)

From a strictly legal standpoint, and speaking in general, not specifically about this case, the fact that the prosecutor has withdrawn the charges does not mean they believe the allegations are false, or that the suspect is innocent. Legally, all it means is that prosecutors believe they have insufficient evidence to prove the charges to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt.

Sue the shit out of the district and the kid and parents.  Break. The. Bank!

And if they can’t sue, for what ever awful reason, this tells you how F’ed up the law is.

Can’t break the bank against the school, even if you can win (which you can’t). Most you can recover against a governmental entity is $700K. Good luck suing a young girl and her parents.

Thank you for proving my point of how screwed up our laws are.  Break. The. Bank.
