  1. Past hour
  2. Bowen leaving before this season is something that was a little fishy as well. Northrop and Northrop Side had plenty of transfers for some unknown reason… well, maybe it’s known… 2+2=4, unless it equals 6…
  3. Is the Georgia team a prep school? I did notice last year they played some heavy hitters and the losses were close scores. This should be interesting. Yes, Ames Field in Michigan City is a gem. Did you watch the Chicago Mt. Carmel / East St. Louis game? Those 2 teams have high end D1 talent all over the field. Clearly a regional All Star team type of feel to them. I noticed you have Lincoln Way East ranked with Chicago Brother Rice. Did you add LWE for beating Rice on Friday? I didn't watch that one. But, I have a hard time believing the top 10 teams in Indiana aren't as good as Lincoln Way East. Their enrollment is about 2,600. Area is fairly white collar. A lof new development south of Orland Park in Frankfort. They probably lose some good talent to Providence Catholic or Joliet Catholic. Just seems like they can't be any better than a Carmel, Westfield, Warren Central, etc.
  4. That's why I was thinking about the transfers above. I get that North Side currently is a trendy place for transfers. But, it could always be better. Especially if you have celebrity coach cranking out D1 talent AND winning. Interesting situation.
  5. Mater Dei is at home, the newly renovated REITZ BOWL. That's good for 2.2 points per Jeff Sagarin.
  6. Castle played what many believe to be a higher quality opponent and came away with the W. MD was not really challenged. As such, I would say Castle would be seen as the favorite.
  7. I think North Posey is very underrated right now. Anytime you have a Sapp in the backfield, good things will happen for Poseyvillle.
  8. After just one game, that is difficult to determine. They ran & passed well vs Central but I would expect Castle to present a different challenge on both sides of the ball. Defense was adequate vs Bears but, again, the Knights will present a completely different challenge.
  9. Sheridan at Alex - Alex wins the home opener on their new turf. Wes-Del at Blackford - Warriors with the win...running clock in the 2nd half. Concordia at Eastbrook - Panthers get in the win column heading into conference play. Elwood at Tri-Central - Trojans...but it will be close. Still pulling kids out of the hallway in Week 2 doesn't lead to wins. How many more conference games will they not play? Lapel at Frankton - Lapel with the win...running clock in the 2nd half. Madison-Grant at Southwood - MG with the win by 3 scores and goes into conference play with momentum. CIC schedule prepares them well for 1A tourney Mississinewa at Marion - Ole Miss comes out ready and puts this one away early Oak Hill at Norwell - Eagles go into conference play winless, but only need to be playing best ball by the end of the year. Bold prediction...they will win the conference and a sectional this year.
  10. Maybe 3 or 4 competitive games?
  11. We already have a thread for Week 2.

  14. Alex and Sheridan--Sheridan is trying to rebuild after the termination of Bud Wright. Alex is better than last year and should win this one with ease. Eastbrook and Concordia--Eastbrook took a loss last week to Huntington North which hasn't happened often. Concordia has potential but Eastbrook is just too much and rights the ship this week. Elwood and Tri-Central--Both programs are struggling with numbers and this game may come down to who has the most players still playing. Elwood gets the win. Frankton and Lapel--Lapel is very good again this year. Frankton is still a lot like the past but without the Statue of Liberty in the playbook. Lapel takes the W. Madison-Grant and Southwood--Bud Wright will have the Knights ready to play. MG either really is struggling or Bellmont has improved that much. In the end MG sneaks by for a narrow victory to remain undefeated. Mississinewa and Marion--Ole Miss took a hard loss and first opening game loss in a few years. Marion has some talent but a lot of young players including a freshman QB. Mississinewa snaps back and takes it to Marion for a big win. Oak Hill and Norwell--This will be a good game. Norwell beat Ole Miss last week and Oak Hill lost to a very good Eastern team. This game could go into OT but Oak Hill pulls out a narrow victory. Side note, this might be the first time that only 1 CIC school won opening week. I can't remember the last time that only 1 school won in week 1.
  15. They do in fact have a state championship. They have a D1 and D2 bracket. It is a MHSAA sport. I think with the amount of 1A schools that are slowly getting smaller.... it will help keep them playing. Its going to get bigger in Indiana. Co-ops will not get any traction.
  16. Bloomington North (0-1) at BNL (1-0) Columbus East (0-1) at Columbus North (1-0) Jeffersonville (0-1) at Seymour (0-1) New Albany (1-0) at 2A #3/#5 Indianapolis Lutheran (1-0) Whiteland (0-1) at 5A #6/#7 Floyd Central (1-0)
  17. I understand the principal’s position. Was this teenager on the football team? Did Coach Johnson have a day job at the HS?
  18. Little Rock Central, In Arkansas. Was D-Coord and had two state winning teams.
  19. I don't know if North can win a game in their inaugural season in the Mid-State Conference. It all depends on how fast their freshman QB progresses since the QB position is the straw that stirs the drink.
  20. What do you do if the ball is snapped at the -10? The BJ has the other goal line. The U is in the middle, and the wings have the entire sideline. This is no different. Everyone is generally working where they are on normal scrimmage kicks. The wings don't have to get to the goal line. They'll coordinate with the B on both the sideline and goal line.
  21. Yesterday
  22. In Jr. High action, North Daviess over Linton 48-12.
  23. Week 2 Schedule Bloomington North (0-1) at BNL (1-0) Columbus East (0-1) at Columbus North (1-0) Jeffersonville (0-1) at Seymour (0-1) New Albany (1-0) at 2A #3/#5 Indianapolis Lutheran (1-0) Whiteland (0-1) at 5A #6/#7 Floyd Central (1-0)
  24. Just out of curiosity, where did you coach?
  25. Not many "solid" programs venture out n get a younger head coach either..Luers got blessed with coach k..what Bowen did at Northrop was an eye opener..if the Damon Bailey rule applies then fwcs schools may need to counter
  26. I just watched the Bloomington South vs Bloomington North game. Well, the 1st half always. North looks young and small. But South has that huge QB back and some pretty good weapons.
  27. Week 2 Matchups St. Pius at Gibson Southern (-19.5) Heritage Hills at Owensboro Apollo (+10.5) South Spencer at Eminence (-2.5) West Washington at Tell City (-14.5) Reitz vs. Tri-West (+6.5) Castle at Mater Dei (0) Central at Bosse (+7.5) Memorial at North (+17.5) Monrovia at Linton (0) Vincennes at Northview (-6.5)
