the bottom line is pretty simple.......if we want to play the game we love, watch the game we love, coach the game we love and officiate the game we love.....wear a mask........if not by the end of July we can all sit around and start a new post on the GID about "what do we do now since there is no football".........it's not a difficult decision...........we as coaches are always talking to the players about the life lessons of sacrifice and doing what it takes to be successful.......if we want a season, a full season, it's time to apply the lessons we preach.5 points

The IFCA guideline is clear; for all members who are coaching, masks are to be worn by coaches throughout practice and games at this point. If you choose not to, then the IFCA insurance will not protect you. I am not a fan of having to wear them in the heat we are facing now, but I am also not willing to take a risk that could potentially cost me my career.2 points

Try as I might, I cannot see the logic behind this. It reminds me of when I was a little kid, and one of my friends got to do something I wanted to do, but my parents wouldn’t let me because they thought it was unsafe. I would stamp my foot and wail about the unfairness of kids getting to do something that I couldn’t. I guess I’ve sort of answered my own question: it’s “little kids logic.”2 points

Not the property of random people, no. My grandpa’s Crown Vic sure took a beating from me 🙂1 point

I’m a coach in my 30’s. Not worried about the kids. Not worried about myself. However, I am worried for the lunch ladies, the janitors, the teachers, and the high-risk population. I am concerned that I could be asymptomatic and I could then infect someone that I love and care about. Do I wear a mask when no one else is going to wear a mask? Does that even do anything?1 point

Couldn’t agree more about consistency, and if that’s the argument he’s trying to make, he’s done a poor job of it. It’s the part about riots and protests that strikes me as wrongheaded ... and makes me think his statement is more about politics than public health.1 point

If it heads in that direction, the IHSAA could cut the regular season to as little as 4 games. That’s the minimum # needed to qualify for the tournament under the current bylaws. But there will be a tournament. Economics dictates that.1 point

For as cocky as DE, Howe and Trojan are about Trump winning by a landslide, none of them are taking my bet. If you are so confident why are you 3 hiding?1 point

Trump did. You have no problem with him doing it. He only started doing the contraction is contraction when programs weren't dropping off like he said.1 point

Were COVID-19 Lockdowns Worth the Cost? https://reason.com/2020/06/29/were-covid-19-lockdowns-worth-the-cost/ I don't have to wonder about it. IMO the lockdown was not worth it.1 point

I think we have to move forward. We are already trillions in dept as a country. Another shutdown will make recovery impossible no matter who is in charge after November. I still think we let the parents, coaches, kids, and fans decide. We all know the risks. No one will force a kid to play. No one will force a coach to coach. No one will force a fan to attend. I saw this coming. Football is the money sport for most schools at the high school and college level. Not having a season will be absolutely devastating financially. Start the season and go from there. If it get's out of hand the season can always be cancelled. I promise you and every reader on this forum.................if this country shuts down again, the next recession will make 2008 look like a joke. According to some financial experts, our economy is already a bubble waiting to pop. Covid could be the needle that does it. I sincerely understand your concern. People going to die from Covid, just like they do from the flu. The only difference is that instead of 1 death, there will be 3. That's a big number, I get that. But is it worth total financial devastation? That's the question we have to ask ourselves. It's kind of like voting for the President. Fifty percent will go one way and fifty percent will go the other. So which is right? I reside on the side of re-opening our economy...........including sports.1 point

DST isn't the issue...the issue is the SW and NW corners of the state being on CST. I think it is nuts that any of Indiana is on EST...just my opinion.1 point

You might find this interesting, but I am not one of those that is against a return to competition. I would just like to hear someone in authority tell it like it really is. Something like this: ”Yes, we have a plan for return to competition. We understand that by resuming high school football we will almost certainly experience increasing positives, despite the fact that our return to competition guidelines attempt to minimize that. Some kids will get sick. Some will transmit the virus to others, including the vulnerable and, as a result, some people will be hospitalized, and the odds are that some will die. However, we believe on balance that a return to high school football provides value to society that exceeds the likely downside. Therefore, we will be playing this Fall.” Isn’t that what’s really happening?1 point

This has now officially gone too far.1 point

I don't think that will be the case, Muda..... I think Tri-West, Danville, North Montgomery, Southmont, Crawfordsville, Frankfort, and Lebanon will finish in there too.1 point

Where's the proof that was from last night? You rarely if ever post anything thats backed by facts. Here's major hypocrisy You say you hate coastal elites but you voted for one. You say the left is bad, but trump up until 2016 donated to democrats. You hate it that the government tells you what you can and can't but you want them to tell a woman what she can and can't, what gay people can and can't do. This is why the right is losing popularity in big fashion with people 18-45. You sir are at the top of the class in hypocrisy 101.0 points
