  1. Brian was also one of the founders, and the first President of the Indiana Football Officials Association, which now numbers well over 700 members.

  3. 1) It is not "Lake Life" - the lakes have always been here. There's not been some drastic change concerning that. This is grasping at straws. What lake is in Plymouth and Goshen pulling kids away from participating in football? 2) Warsaw will not be lured to Fort Wayne to join the SAC. You are the only one who ever brings this up. Across all athletics, the Tigers fit in well in the NLC and are more than prepared for any tournament runs in their respective sports. Football is the only one that would even remotely benefit, and that is not reason enough to move your entire athletics department to a new conference

  4. The subject of the transformation in the public perception of organized labor over the years is fascinating. They’ve gone from protector of the common man, to thumb on the scales of the economy, to banker for organized crime, to now - largely political entities more interested in influencing national policy and national elections than their original role of providing an economic check on corporate disregard for anything but the bottom line.

  11. Bryan Neale also played football at Castle. He was a B10 official from 2006-2013. He officiated the 2007 Cotton Bowl, 2008 Gator Bowl, and the 2011 National Championship. He began officiating in the NFL in 2014, and this will be his first Super Bowl.

  12. The IHSAA classifies schools based on enrollment. The goal is to have 64 schools in classes 1-4A and 32 each in 5-6A. If there are not 320 schools, the numbers are adjusted in the lower classes. You may also have schools moved up due to the Success Factor. It is possible for schools that have 1 more student than another to be in different classifications due to where the divider falls between the divisions. Classes are adjusted every 2 years, so schools on the border sometimes move up and down depending on their enrollment cycles.

  15. I would say in the SIAC it would have to be Jasper. It has no enrollment competition from other schools (public or parochial), has top-notch facilities, great community support (financially and otherwise), and a great tradition in several sports. Plus, as the only high school in that school corporation, I imagine they can pretty much do whatever they want when it comes to compensation to retain and attract coaches. Also add that their former AD now is an assistant IHSAA commissioner.

  16. Ehhh…I won’t say no because that’s too black and white….but anyone who has played GS the last 4 years will have to start over on how to defend Coach Harts offense again now. sure a ton of phenomenal talent is graduating…but the next QB for GS is a true dual threat and the RB room is going to be strong. Probably will still pass it more than most teams…it’s just that there is a slim to none chance they will be throwing it over 300 times on the year or going with a 65/35 pass run ratio. offenses are designed around a teams strengths…and for 4 years the strength has been at the QB being able to put the ball wherever it needs to be while having a cannon for an arm. These next 2 years are probably going to be more about RPO/Read-Option Long story short….yes the team is going to be a clear step under the 2021 team…not a question….but the 2022 team is likely going to be a very different challenge to try and stop…

  17. One of my youth coaches back in the day was a bit cruder in the technique. He always told us to watch the guy's balls because he wasn't going anywhere without them.

  18. If receivers are going to drop the ball, why teach how to catch? If linemen miss blocks, why teach blocking? If QB's are going to miss throws or throw picks, why teach passing? if running backs are going to fumble, why teach ball handling? Sorry, could not resist. 🙂

  19. 6A South Sectionals according to new enrollments: Sectional 5- Avon, Brownsburg, Pike, Ben Davis Sectional 6- North Central, Lawrence North, Lawrence Central, Cathedral Sectional 7- Warren Central, Tech, Perry Meridian, Southport Sectional 8- Center Grove, Franklin Central, Columbus North, Jeffersonville Not sure what other options would work best. I think the main question would be how Sectional 4 in the North is divided up between Carmel, Zionsville, Westfield, Noblesville, HSE and Fishers

  20. Yes, I was referring to Hawk tackling rooted in the Seattle tackling regimen initiated there with Pete Carroll ... although Carroll was utilizing the early elements of the style back when he was at USC.

  21. There are already youth programs that teach Hawk tackling which is tied to rugby style tackling.

  24. A sarcastic response was far nicer than the first 10 responses I could have given. I just don't have a high tolerance for a bitter old man who sits back and second-guesses everything done by those who are actually doing. It's even worse when you have preconceived notions that facts don't have a chance of altering.
