  1. Did some investigating and watched the Hudl video. Here’s what happened in the last couple minutes of the Andrean - LaVille game: LaVille recovered Andrean onside kick, and had 1st down with 1:35 remaining. On the 1st play, the QB takes a knee immediately. On 2nd down, the Referee blows an inadvertent whistle. This was caused by the LaVille QB telling the R he was going to take a knee, and then taking the snap and backpedaling several steps before he goes down. This is a bad mistake, no doubt, but under the circumstances, somewhat understandable. But it happens, and any official who tells you they’ve never had an IW is probably lying. LaVille elects to replay the down. So, it’s 2nd down, but Andrean thinks the down counts and it’s 3rd down. This, despite the fact that the officials verbally instructed the box man that it was 2nd down, not 3rd, and the downs marker, which is on the Andrean sideline, is changed to 2nd down. Andrean apparently does not appreciate this. LaVille does another kneel down, then takes a delay penalty. On 3rd down, the LaVille QB runs around a little and then goes down. He does the same thing on 4th down, and runs out the clock. From my review of the sequence of events, it’s apparent that nothing that the officials did affected the outcome. The crew’s performance over the final 1:35 was not optimal, but the real trouble started when LaVille said they were taking a knee, and did not go down immediately from “Victory” formation(after doing just that on 1st down). This led to the IW, which, in turn caused Andrean to lose count of the downs, despite what the officials said, and what was displayed on the downs marker.

  2. 5a and 6A join the competition this week Elkhart (3-6) at Penn (8-1), 7 pm Concord (5-4) at Adams (1-8), 7 pm New Prairie (8-2) at Kankakee Valley (5-5), 8 pm Washington (3-7) at NorthWood (8-2), 7 pm Fairfield (6-4) at Glenn (6-4), 7 pm Wheeler (6-3) at Bremen (5-5), 7:30 pm Seems like the more competitive games are in 3A and 2A this week. The favorites in the top 4 games should move on to Sectional Championships (concord, Penn, New Prairie, Northwood)

  6. Well, at least we know it won't be Andrean.

  7. I think LCC overall is in better shape this year than Andrean for 2a Catholic schools are concerned, youth and roster turnover at Andrean vs loaded experienced team from last year successful team in LCC. Just throwing some context out there from my seat. Prior to the draw and even after the draw, felt like LCC was likely to get to Semi State vs Luers. Just my neanderthal look at things

  9. Didn’t read about a clock reset (edit: sorry, I see it now)—if it was, then I understand.

  10. 5 downs? Did you not read Bob's explanation? After the IW, Laville had the choice, by rule, to replay the down and they did. The clock was reset to where it was at the start of 2nd down. No extra down was given. The optics weren't good, but the crew did nothing to take the game away from Andrean.

  11. I was at the Valley/Chatard game I was getting updates of the LCC/Winamac game. Winamac's secondary isn't so bad at stopping the run but the pass defense struggled against LaVille, West Central to an extent and Triton. I knew they'd have major issues with LCC, was told their run defense was OK. I also think Rochester struggled with Valley’s passing some and Central Catholics QB is much better.

  12. Apparently it is a Forum for fiction as well. N-O-T-H-I-N-G in the 2 posts you quoted of mine mention anything remotely close to your "running the SIAC gauntlet ..ready for a run to state"... gibberish... In fact, neither of them mention anything about the MD vs TC game, period. Feel free to search the entirety of my GID posting history and you will find NOTHING like what you alluded to in your post. Try to focus...Looks like the November rent came in early. Must be the voices getting louder again.

  14. Standard practice when the QB tells you he’s going to take a knee is to tell him “Do it immediately and hand me the ball, or I can’t protect you.”

  16. I’d be willing to bet the farm they won’t all see week 3. Football is the anomaly sport traditionally all schools are in the same sectional in non-football sports except East and Madison. I believe the HHC is getting better as a whole in Football, obviously there’s no 600 pound gorilla anymore but in my opinion the overall level is better.

  18. Attended the LCC game last night. Metzger had 345 passing last night against Winamac. Hit a lot of different guys and was dangerous in long ball plays. I think LCC had at least three TDs on pass plays of 50 or more. The thing of interest was that LCC seemed to be good at was not abandoning something that had promise. They had a crossing play that misfired for the first 3-4 time they tried it. Most teams would have given up after the first two times it didn't work. Just when the fans were probably thinking that they would put that thing back in the play chest for another weekend ... BAM ... 6 points. And it wasn't the first time it produced fruit last night. Just to indicate that quick strike potential, first offensive play of the second half was a 65-yard pass to Clayton; sending the game to running clock. If folks are expecting Rochester to only put up a couple of touchdowns, then Rochester will need an outstanding pass defense. Prior to last night, LCC's putting up 32 passes a game with a 60%+ completion rate. They put up about a TD every eight completions. By contrast, Rochester's had 43 passing attempts for the whole year. Rochester is the complete opposite of LCC with a huge running game; putting up about 40 running plays per game with a TD about every nine carries. LCC's a bit off that mark on rushing putting up a TD about every 13 carries, but only running an average of 18 times a game. LCC's three losses have all come against 3A teams: #7 in class Sagarin Guerin, #11 in class Sagarin Hamilton Heights, and #17 in class Sagarin West Lafayette. All three advanced in their initial sectional game. Rochester has two losses: #10 in class 3A Tipp Valley and #16 in class 3A Peru, who both lost their sectional contests last night in the Sectional of Death. Guerin defeated Peru 27-19.

  20. Again, using transitive scores, BD literally squeaked by Warren 31-28 and Snider smacked around Warren 42-20 at Warren with 14 of the 20 points being a special teams TD and a pick 6. It just seems like Temptation picks and chooses what he wants to substantiate his argument. We all have differing opinions

  21. Crazy stat for you guys. This is the first time in HHC history that every HHC team will be playing in the second week of the postseason.

  22. That is exactly what happens most of the time. The offense notifies the officials that they are taking a knee. The officials let the defense know, in order to minimize the possibility of unsportsmanlike acts. There is even a specific procedure in the officials’ manual on dealing with Victory formation.

  23. Vandy VdWielen " As an administrator of IHSAAtv.org, I think I'm in a position to comment. All schools, who are IHSAAtv affiliates are allowed to stream their sectional and regional games. They are exempt from having to pay rights fees. In fact, there are over 150 Indiana high schools who do! Some schools have decided to go at it independently. In those very isolated instances, they are not allowed to stream on social media such as youtube, facebook and etc. All games must air only on IHSAAtv.org. This decision was implement to prevent unsuspecting fans from following the thousand of phishing and spam links."

  24. Whether a team is taking a knee is communicated all the time in game ending situations.

  25. At this point of the season, and in this game situation, every member of the crew needs to be aware of any clock issues. I'm wondering how the "kneel downs" were communicated? Was the crew told "we're taking a knee"? Was the QB allowed to take his time, after this was communicated to the D?

  26. Of course you know what you are talking about. Can only imagine how many Holiday Inn Express membership points you must be racking up. We agree that it’s not been a typical year for Warren. But that team still played BD down to the wire. That got my attention. Don’t agree it’s a cakewalk to play them. They will win their sectional without breaking a sweat, and will give it their all in the regional. CG has to open up with a well coached FC team and the Trojans better be ready. Undoubtedly a tougher path for BB, BD, and Cathedral. But CG better be ready to play next Friday night.

  27. He will and has. No sadness here as a person who has given all I have to the program (not just taken). My only emotion with regard to this thread is disdain for the inability of the IHSAA to fix the broken system in Indiana and my continued disbelief with folks like you who continue to defend it. Enjoy your purchase.

  28. I guess you don't understand enrollment numbers? If we use that logic, all Carmel has to do is only allow 25 kids to be on the team and they can be 1a!
