  1. But that should improve the quality of the soccer program. Jasper's boys program has gotten much more competitive in recent years for that reason.

  2. We don’t have the final contestants determined quite yet. But we have sufficiently narrowed the field to start a discussion. First order of business: Congratulations to Bill Vinovich, selected by the League to wear the white hat. Dependable, unflappable, veteran crew chief. Great choice.

  4. Oddly enough it hasn’t really. Girls roster is dominated by Hispanics, boys not so much. I think our pipeline of German exchange students has helped the boys’ cause though.

  5. My mama said you talkin bout the wrong fooseball. We only talk about one fooseball on the digest! Sounds like Seymour and Jasper should have 15-20 different place kickers and punters on their depth chart.

  7. Exactly. I’m just curious whether that increased pool results in an increase in games vs. non-Indiana opponents.

  8. I mean, those are two pretty solid fields. Two of the better grass fields, consistently, that I've ever coached/played on. Salem/Corydon fields were poor. (just like ours was before we replaced it)... again, not a shot at either of those schools, just the reality. NH's field isn't bad, huge crown, which was annoying as a QB. They also have hills in the back of each endzone lol

  9. It's clear the NFL wants the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, due to the Swift Factor. Millions more swifties watching the SB would be an even greater ratings bonanza!

  10. I feel your pain, Seymour has always been a very static enrollment, between 1100-1200 at the HS. Given our current “migration” situation locally, leadership is expecting us 6A by the next count. Unfortunately Hispanics are not big Football participants. Last figures I heard were nearing 40% of the enrollment K-12.

  11. Wow - that is a wild story! (And pretty bad timing in regards to enrollment counts)....

  12. The appointment of Travon Curry as the head coach is a thrilling choice. Being a local hire, Curry has been a witness to both the triumphant moments and the stumbling blocks of the program over the years. I'm curious to see if student-athletes will be drawn back to Elkhart under his guidance, and how he'll boost the program with the athletes walking the halls. The most intriguing aspect will be Coach Curry's selection of his staff; it's an exciting prospect that fresh faces and new ideas may be introduced with new staff members.
