A - A V - Valley O - Of N - Neighbors Avon a long time ago was said to be called A Valley Of Neighbors (A-V-O-N). New coaches wanted the kids to believe in something to fight for and protect. Becoming more of a community than individuals as athletes. A "Protect your own" mindset

So as part of the latest expansion of the soon to be 3,000 student HS Avon has added a state of the art training and weight lifting facility. Folks around here think it will be a game changer for the football program. Thoughts?

And now we've gotten word that a sista is going to bring down the house. Last week, news dropped that Grammy-winning singer Andra Day would be performing the Black National Anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," during the game's pre-show, as reported by the NFL. Game day will be an evening of Black Excellence as the song will be produced and arranged by Grammy and Emmy-winning musical director and producer Adam Blackstone.

No real disagreement....I'd just prefer the "cycle" to be longer...maybe 3-4 years, along with being a "rolling cycle". I think that is the bigger issue....a longer, "rolling" cycle is a better metric, even beyond the point requirement (tweak those however you want). I would also require a state title in that rolling cycle to trigger a bump up.

It is interesting when there are coaches that know the alignments a week before they are announced! I think the long gap in time is for lobbying to take place for certain alignments. Also, it is difficult to justify the large salaries of the IHSAA commissioner and his minions if the process was done and completed in a weekend. I think Illinois is able to finish the season, determine what 256 teams qualified for the playoffs, classify them by enrollment into 8 classes of 32, and seed all 8 classes in a single weekend!

So the only people that can grasp the rules of football are officials? Man, was I sure tricked by all the coaches over the years that taught us the game, including rules, techniques to avoid breaking the rules both on the field and at coaching seminars. I wonder if coaching legends like Dick Dullghan understand they don't get the rules of the game......that is only reserved by officials. 🙄
