  1. Oh, I know. A harmless question, but there are no harmless questions with him.

  2. Please don't encourage him. "footballmomma", lol.

  3. The claim that "the guy" was right "99% of the time" was the next clue. 🤣

  4. I think we have found a rare moment of absolute, 100 percent, lock-step agreement!

  5. I still remember during the debate over whether or not basketball should go to class, and if so, how many classes, etc. Former Indy Star sports writer Bill Benner, ending a column after it was decided to go to a four class tournament, said "the sound you are hearing are the private schools adding on to their trophy cases" :)

  6. I have been around region football since I was 5. Watching my brothers and now my sons grow up and play. We have always be fascinated with the talent level in the area. But I wanted to attempt to take a stab at 5A and see what you guys are 💭. 1. Decatur central (was state runner up) 2. Merrillville (north semis runner up) 3. Valpo (regional runner up to #2) 4. Bloomington south (semi runner up) 5. Whiteland (regional runner up) 6. Lafayette Jefferson (down from 6A) 7. East central (back to back state titles 4A) 8. Warsaw( down from 6A) 9. Bloomington north 10. Hammond Morton (multiple D1s back) feel like some of these can be switched but I think the top 2 are perfect? What do you guys think. (Doing one for 3A shortly)

  8. I think his comment was in jest/sarcasm. Innocent on the criminal side....considered liable for the murders on the civil side.....and ordered to pay $33M. Always found that one interesting to say the least...... https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/13/us/oj-simpson-damages.html

  9. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't see much room for Carmel to grow out much more. It's not like Zionsville, Noblesville, Westfield or Fishers/HSE. It's kind of locked in by those places.

  11. Ben Davis was a really good football team last year, but Brownsburg or Center Grove could have won it all too. The Giants were just a little better/luckier on that particular night. It was going to be one of those three or even Cathedral in 6A. Respectfully, no one in the North was going to win State last year as good as CP was.

  12. Give me Warsaw in the North. Don't know enough about the South. Warsaw plays the type of football Merrillville wants nothing to do with. I don't care how many future hall of famers they have, I'm taking Warsaw all day!

  13. It's comical to call Warsaw's (or any other teams that run a style of Flexbone/Wishbone/Triple Option) boring. Big plays happen all the time, and the Tigers have averaged 30 points per game since Bart Ball made it's way to the Lake City. As well - the Tiger Defense has been especially stout the last 2 seasons. Last year, they gave up 15 points per game, including 6 games holding opponents to fewer than 14 points. Warsaw also has 2 defensive players representing the North in this year's North/South All-Start Game. Last 2 years when comparing Warsaw's Scoring O/D compared to Valparaiso's Scoring O/D... are basically the same. Scoring O Scoring D Warsaw 27 ppg 15 ppg Valpo 29 ppg 16 ppg

  14. Warsaw had a gritty defense last year that helped them upset high expectations and formidable 6A FW Carroll. They had the unlucky pleasure of traveling to Freed Field and playing Penn the next weekend, but they gave Penn everything they could handle. Even in a lopsided loss.

  15. They were starting a sophomore QB and basically an entire sophomore front line. They'll be a force for the next two years.

  16. Here’s a thought, why not today, start recruiting Indiana kids? I know that’s a crazy idea, but hey how’s getting all the AAU blue bloods working out?

  20. Inside the donut: .750 - I think they would beat the publics and Lutheran, but they'd struggle with Cathedral. Chatard would be a handful most years. Roncalli would be a crapshoot. Outside the donut: .250 -Suburban Indy schools are getting so big it's becoming an unlevel playing field for everyone else. Until Valpo and Merrillville somehow grow by 500-700 students, they would struggle to put together a winning record unfortunately. There's a reason we have six classes. Merrillville and Valpo, finally playing within their weight class, will have an opportunity to add to their trophy cases. And that's a compliment. Pound for pound, those two programs are among the best in the state.

  21. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe I looked a few months ago at who Merrillville and DC were returning for the next season. I feel like both teams return enough to be considered the teams to beat for 2024. Merrillville just seems to reload every year and are always on the cusp. I think the Pirate's program is playing at a higher level than Jeff and Warsaw right now. I like DC's coach, couple that with some returning starters, and I think they are the team out of the south. But East Central seems to reload every year too, so we'll see. I'll be honest, I'm not really sure what Warsaw brings back other than a good coach and a stout offensive game plan. The style of ball they play is dangerous, Carroll will tell you. So will Snider for that matter............they had to endure Mishawaka, who plays that same style of offense, two years in a row.

  22. Penn is not very forthcoming to people not directly involved in the program. With the Valpo series stretching back to 1996 I just assumed this was a game that would continue to go on for years to come. Penn picking up Merrillville helps them see speed, but they need to pick up teams that compete at the 6A level and are from Indy. Playing 5A Valpo and now 4A Mishawaka don't come off well, while other 6A programs are testing themselves against the best of 6A. Carroll, Snider and Homestead are leading the way in testing themselves. Penn's schedule is weak and will be weak, until changes are made.

  24. Warsaw waxed one of 6A's better teams last year. The potential is there. I personally don't see Jeff "steamrolling" them. They're a lot like Mishawaka. Bring your A game, or you're done.

  27. After what I have witnessed recently in international competitions, I am just sitting over here wondering why we still call our best NBA team “world champions” every June, lol.
