I would imagine it’s week 6. The 2020 schedules should just be a mirror (flip home/away) of the 2019 schedules. Memorial has 5 home games and at Bosse. I wish that could be flipped somehow. Have 4 home games and at Bosse in one year and 5 home games (inc. Bosse) in the other.

Regular Season Matchups 2021
oldtimeqb replied to Indiana Fan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm not sure that any school in the SIAC has control over their schedule anymore now that the conference is closed. I wouldn't mind seeing the first 8 games (leave week 9 alone) reordered 2 or 4 years to add some variety. -

Based on these being the teams in 3A I see no problem with this alignment. Will there be 63 teams (It looks like you only have 7 in SE Indiana/Louisville/Sectional 31.) I also wouldn't mind a re-numbering of sorts. Using your example, make the Indy SW sectional 31 and Louisville 30. That way you could see a different matchup at regional. Using 2020 alignments it would have been Sullivan vs. Southridge and Danville vs Lawrenceburg for regional. -
I had heard USA Football had recommended single grade play only. 3rd grade league, 4th grade league, etc. But that simply isn't feasible for many smaller leagues. I was trying to find their official document that stated the single league recommendation (as opposed to hearsay from other parents) and found this: https://fdm.usafootball.com/docs/default-source/default-document-library/fdm-game-progression-brochure.pdf?sfvrsn=f0b0590f_2 They recommend a "rookie tackle" - smaller field, less players. I had not read this before, but I can say I had many of the same ideas.

What is happening to Terre Haute Enrollments?
oldtimeqb replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Have there been studies on the optimal size of a HS? Do 2500-3000 students schools provide a better educational experience than 1,000? 2,000? What about 5,000 students like Carmel? Claiming enrollment is positively correlated with educational experience is a pretty bold claim. And improved schools attracting industry? I’m not even going to begin with that unfounded claim. -
Hit enter before I was ready (stupid fat thumbs). Your point is another reason why I think 8-man would be a good starting point for tackle players. Allows the teams to be smaller, and less bodies to watch for coaches. I don't know if you have tried to watch 11 players at once, especially 11 nine and ten year olds, it's almost impossible to coach well, IMO.

T-Ball. I was approached by another parent when my youngest son was 4, asking if I wanted to join their travel T-Ball team for a weekend tournament in Indy. (In hindsight, it was probably the big place in Wesfield.) I laughed before I realized he was serious. Driving from Evansville to Westfield for a 4/5 year old T-ball tournament wasn't my idea of a good time.

I think HH's youth league doesn't tackle until 5th grade and won't let them throw a forward pass until 7th grade. (I kid, I kid!) I don't have a problem with 3/4th tackle, but I would rather see a smaller field and 8 man. Maybe move the sideline to the far hash, and always put the ball on the near hash (Middle of the remaining field.) There's too many grade school Lombardi's that want to run toss to the wide side to Johnny EarlyBloomer. Or my personal favorite, a double-reverse with Johnny. Watch a 4th grade team break the huddle in the middle and send a receiver to the bottom of the numbers on each side. And some CB follows him out there. They're essentially playing with 9 already.

Crazy how Mt. Carmel started the whole conference realignment thing and the problem (IL District play) never came to fruition. I'm guessing a 3A school wins the big and small school divisions of the PAC

Picks For 2021 State Champions

I would assume Chatard, Roncalli, and Brebeuf will all be in the same sectional and headed south. -

Read the Disclaimer!!! And before the criticisms come in - Congratulations to all the winners on their awards. We are announcing all-state teams and crowning a Mr. Football. Things I didn't think would happen this year. -
Article from post trib on Indy football
oldtimeqb replied to Whiting89's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I get that the article is written out of Chicago. But the same could be said of SW Indiana. Since Evansville North (95) and Bloomington South (97/98), have been the furthest south teams to reach the state title game in 5A. And there haven't been any schools in 6A since the creation of the class. Seems like 6A has a dual criteria for competitiveness - Top 32 enrollment AND between Highway 26 in the north and Highway 46 in the south. -
Official takes a lick.....

And I expect in the future ejected players must be escorted to the locker room immediately - which is the NCAA/NFL rule. I never quite understood allowing an ejected player to remain on the sidelines anyway. -

Just sickening. Now that I have seen this clip which is longer than the ones posted last night on Twitter I have a question. The coach escorting the player off initially - blue shirt, dark sock hat, white mask. Is he the same coach that is charging down the 45 yard line towards the other team as the player is charging the referee? What is the story behind that? If it is the same coach, his actions seem really off to me. -
Rumors and 50 cents can get you a senior coffee at McDonald's. Both about as equally filling too.

It looks like Monrovia and West Vigo are both teetering on that 2/3A line. West Vigo would be in 29 instead of South Vermillion if they were 3A, unless they bumped down Monrovia. With Mish Marian as a favorite up north, I assume Guerin will stay north so a P/P matchup at Lucas is impossible. -

Is HH Central? I really only pay attention to Lincoln City's time zone when we go to Holiday World, which we didn't get to do this summer. LOL I assumed it was Eastern, but if it's central, than I agree with your breakdown. -

I like the thinking. But as much as I try, I think HH or SR go to 31, similar to the alignments in 2015 and 16. 29 - Put in Indian Creek for VL 30 - Edgewood for IC 31 - HH or SR for Edgewood - Probably HH 32 - VL added -
State Finals Endzone Cameras
oldtimeqb replied to Tanka Jahari's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
@Tanka Jahari Has to recognize the greatness of the Big Cat. How many other videographers lead the team on field (breaking the cheerleader banner in the process) and then turn around and run the EZ camera. His work at Danville 2017 grants him legendary status. -

Providence or Rock Creek to North Daviess would be 2 hours/100 miles minimum, probably closer to 125-130 if they decide to take interstates. South of US 50, the football playing schools are so spread out, sectional travel can get pretty long. That’s another reason I wish the state would allow co-op teams for those students a chance to play. The entire Blue Chip Conference with schools like Barr Reeve, Loogootee, Shoals, NE Dubois, Washington Catholic, Rivet, South Knox and Wood Memorial are all small schools in that geographical area. -
You referring to your own idea as a "brilliant move" reminds me of George Constanza. Jerk store? It's a smart line. I'm not gonna dumb it down for some bonehead mass audience!

Private vs. Parochial - Big Difference
oldtimeqb replied to DL6's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
That's hilarious. I have never seen that before. My response was going to be "What happens at a school-wide pep session if someone doesn't lean to the left, lean to the right, stand up, and sit down?' But that scene fits that description too! 😃 -
Private vs. Parochial - Big Difference
oldtimeqb replied to DL6's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Evansville has a coordinating council, so Mater Dei and Memorial have the same tuition and salary rate for teachers. The same rate and number of coaching stipends for athletics as well. A member of an east side parish that attends Mater Dei does pay slightly more and vice versa for westsiders that attend Memorial. Non-parishioners pay about $3,000 more than parishioners. My general feeling is that the non-Catholic/non-parishioner population is where the majority of enrollment losses for the two schools has occurred. The new, better located North HS, public charter Signature school, and newly created Evansville Christian HS have attracted the families interested in private schooling environment without the Catholic faith. -
The real winner......
oldtimeqb replied to Staxawax's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Here, here! I will gladly toast the IHSAA leadership for the guts to see the fall sports season through. I hope they have the same resolve for winter sports as well. My son has classmates who have spent weekends out of state for travel soccer and volleyball during the month of November. I would 100x rather support the education based model of IHSAA over club sports.
