Sheridan can sometimes benefit from being in Hamilton County and getting athletes from the larger surrounding schools.

So they recruit

LOL!!!  Yes, because that's what "open enrollment" means.  Dear God.

If Sheridan is recruiting, then they suck at it.

Open enrowment doesn’t guarantee athletic eligibility. I swear to God it doesn’t. STATE LAW

I actually heard that, upon the announcement that Faith Christian was going to go to 11-man this season, some 20-25 players from the LCC football team became Baptists and will be attending Faith in the fall.  :classic_laugh:

Lord, I apologize for that there.

Epic.

South Putnam is going to be very hard to beat in the south this year.  Of the two south teams that came within one score of Lutheran, the Eagles have the most coming back.  Starting QB returns, along with one of the best deep threats in 1A as a sophomore.  Look for South Putnam to put up a lot of points.

Providence was better last year, but graduated quite a few key contributors.

Won't they just recruit a few more of those kids from across the border :)

Can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not, but Plainfield, Greencastle, and Cascade are all building solid programs. Where would SP recruit from? Cloverdale?

I think he was referring to Providence, tongue firmly in cheek.

Exactly! Westfield played down there for a 2A semistate title in the 90's. The parking lot had a lot of vehicles with Kentucky license plates.

Between you guys, AC, LCC, and Linton the 1A guys is about 3 of us now

Growing up in 1a at Linton for most of our years...most of my good friends, fellow broadcasters and coaches were all 1a.  Had some great convo's through the years.

I think Madison Grant can make some noise in the North. Good size and speed, with a good group of seniors returning.

I saw a picture of the linemen from South Putnams. They came in 2nd place in a competition at Lafayette Jeff. A couple of them probably passed out from hoeding their breath to look bigger, I swear to God they did. But the fact remains they’re going to blow every 1A team off the line of scrimmage and I’ll say it right to your face.

Yeah my money is on South Putnam. They have some impressive looking rascals and size that is hard to find at the 1A level.

North Judson is the team to beat from the North this year.    I think the Jays will be good- but don't discount Laville/Carroll/Pioneer   Laville used to winning big games and very familiar with NJ-Carroll is fast/fast- Pioneer always has played Judson tough.  Be interesting to see how it all plays out.

NJ is clear favorite based on returning players

that said NJ plays 3A #1 Knox week 1

Pioneer plays Knox week 2

Pioneer has played tons of freshman/sophs last two years and only have a couple seniors this season. Find out pretty quick where they are opening up with Cass and Knox

Aside from the head coach on the sideline, what did Sheridan bring back to be ranked 4th? It is the Preseason Coaches' Poll, so it ultimately is not that deep, but I am curious to hear others thoughts. They lost their top three rushers, top two receivers, and five of their top six tacklers from last year. Whereas the #8 team, who Sheridan barely snuck past to win the sectional, Monroe Central returns their top three rushers, a 1300 yard passer, and return four of their top six tacklers. Nothing against Sheridan personally, I just find the Coaches' Poll annoying when it values off the field relationships over on the field play.

This is a great callout.  The Indy Star is picking Sheridan to represent the South in 1A, but they might not even win the sectional.  Monroe Central looked good against Adams Central in last week's scrimmage, which makes sense given all that they bring back from last season.

Here’s the line from South Putnams. I’ve seen some big 1A lines but they usually had some fat boys. These dudes look like a 3A line. I’d like to see the one that looks like Fabios on a toss play in front of the RB.
