Not complaining. The consensus seems to be a home game is more important than a bye.

Which will be the main reason the playoff expands to 16 teams next year.

I actually think you are right in terms of deserving but no way they would put three B10 teams in AND have a BTTG rematch in the CFP semis.

I think Boise would have a case, having only lost to Oregon by 3 but then again the rematch comes into play.

Best win for Boise? What is the difference if they play in the quarterfinals or semifinals? Frankly, now that I think about it, what was Penn State’s best win? Let’s be honest, the SEC sucked this year. Bama crying cuz they didn’t get in with 3 losses, couldn’t score a TD vs. lowly Oklahoma losing 24-3 and losing to freaking Vanderbilt? Texas getting smoked at home by Georgia then losing to Georgia again in the SEC title game. Mississippi with 3 losses, Tennessee getting embarrassed by the Suckeyes, I want hear nothing about that conference going forward.

No consensus, yet.

Let’s see how these next four games play out.

I can absolutely see all 4 “away” teams/lower seeded teams sweep the next 4.

I like Boise…a lot…or maybe I just don’t trust Franklin.

I am 50/50 on OSU/Oregon and ND/UGA.

I think Texas rolls.

Obviously Oregon and Georgia make the top four. From there, I think Notre Dame is the easy pick for #3. After that get's tough. Penn State has the best resume as their only losses were close ones to Oregon and Ohio State. The Texas loss at home by 15 points to me is about the same as Ohio State losing a close one to Michigan at home. It's the most bitter rivalry in sports, so you have to give the Buckeyes a little bit of grace there. But Ohio State beat Penn State head to head, so I think that propells them to the playoffs.

1. Oregon - Big Ten Champs, no further explanation

2. Georgia - SEC Champs, no further explanation

3. Notre Dame - Won impressively over the eleven best teams on their schedule

4. Ohio State - See above

If OSU plays like they did against Tennessee, they will win the whole thing.

Stockton is going to have to make some throws for Georgia, but so is Leonard.

Texas and Penn State will roll. Talent always shows out in games like these and Texas and Penn State are vastly superior to ASU and Boise St despite having some lackadaisical coaching.

That's a big IF. The same could be said for a number of teams if they had home field advantage throughout, including Notre Dame. A neutral field takes care of all that.

Ohio State will bring significantly more fans than Oregon to the Rose Bowl Jan 1. Nobody in the country travels better than Ohio State. They've already played once this year at Oregon where OSU lost by a point on a questionable OPI. Ohio State is the most talented team in the country, if the coaching staff takes off the training wheels they are the toughest out in the field.

Not sure I can debate that.

Part of me thinks the Rose Bowl is the national title game. I know I said I liked Notre Dame’s chances last week and I still do but man OSU looked good.

Now, I still think if you get them to the 4th quarter they buckle but we will see.

I was thinking the same thing. I hate to count Notre Dame, Texas, and Georgia out though.

Man, if ND could break through that SEC barrier the same way Michigan did last year, it’d be rich.

The Rose Bowl winner is almost certainly the favorite. But, to your point about OSU/Oregon 1, everyone left is still gettable. Seems like Penn State’s and Notre Dame’s defenses could keep Howard from looking like he did on Saturday. Or can a team goad Day into getting into a rock fight like Michigan?

Yeah, that would be something if Notre Dame could pull it off. Michigan and Notre Dame  back to back. I've been thinking about that lately. The two winningest programs in football (not withstanding the NCAA's bogus penalty on the Irish), both of whom had been on a long drought.

Go back and check…never said IU had 30 transfers from JMU. Perhaps someone else did. I agree with you that the JMU players that came to IU were very good and would have been recruited by a number of teams. Probably were before committing to Cignetti and IU.

As we used to say, my bad.

IU has retooled their RB room with transfers Lee Beebe Jr from UAB (884 yards 7 TDs last year) and Roman Hemby from Maryland (2400 yards 22 TDs in 3 seasons). There is a large expectation that Cal transfer Fernando Mendoza (3004 yards 16 Tds/6 INT's 69% completion %) will be committing to IU over Georgia in the next 48 hours. Fernando has a brother on the team that is a RS-Fr QB. He is currently the #2 rated QB in the portal.

Team still needs a couple, two slot receivers, and an EDGE rusher although All-American Mikhail Kamara has another year of eligibility if he wants it.

Being reported that Kurtis Rourke played the entire season on a torn ACL. Add in fact that he only missed a game and a half after having a broken thumb surgically repaired and it makes his performance all that more special. What a warrior.

Our youngest daughter (IU Alum) told me about Rourke's journey this morning.  That is incredible.  I believe its his right knee....which I assume he has to brace from to make his throws.  Bum knee and a tore up thumb.....Warrior is right and hopefully, NFL staffs will recognize this....

And tapped out of a game, 3rd and goal, because he was “tired”.
