I'm taking the Panthers this week. This will be the first true test of the season for Carroll. Up until now they just had to make sure they are on the field by kickoff. This week they are gonna have to do more than just show up. A couple of their games are way closer than they should be. If they prove me wrong so be it, but they need to do just that. Prove you are for real this week because Pioneer is always going to bring it against whoever they play.

Cougars.  For my money Adam is probably the best coach in the conference.  They'll be ready, but sometimes it just comes down to Jimmy's and Joe's, and the Cougs have a few more.

They definitely do have a lot more of them for sure. Just from the film I've seen on the Cougars, I'm not super impressed with any of their guys named Jim or Joe.

Jays beat the Cavs- hopefully get the young guys in after the starters get their reps.

Trojans over Southern Wells

Warriors over Fremont

No bulletin board material for the Panthers vs the Cougars! Cougars are the King of Sectional 42 until proven otherwise. Should be a fun matchup tonight!

I think you might be a little biased too 😆

Pioneer was clicking

42-7 half 49-7 Final

I knew Pioneer would play well, but what happened to Carroll?  I would love to hear some more details about how this game was played.  Thought for sure it would be a lot closer than the final.  Congrats to the Panthers!

According to the Pharos Tribune, Van Meter and Rans had over 470 yards rushing... in the first half!!!  That's an really bad look for Carroll.  How can they be 10-0 and get destroyed like that?  Were they missing some guys?

Not so fast my friend!

Everyone is questioning what happened to Carrol but pioneer is just a good team that came out and executed their game plan. All of their losses are to really good teams.

Right and people can say their conference isn't strong or whatever but a team Carroll beat by 2 scores ended up beating a solid Rochester team last night.

I was impressed with Pioneer week 3 with Rans and Van Meter.

I imagine next year they'll be probably conference favorites and probably one of the few state title contenders in the north. Rans will definitely be the best player in the conference next season as well.

I surprisingly agree with 2 of your posts today.

however, he won’t be the best player in the conference next year. He may be the best “skill” player but I’m taking CJ Sanchez as the best overall player next year.

Of course you would. He's from judson and you are a Judson guy.

We have 2 rematches on tap this week.  Judson handled LaVille in week 2 and NM beat Triton by a score in week 9.  Taylor lost to Carroll 35-0 in week 3.

I imagine Taylor has probably improved since week 3, that's just a guess. I don't really compare scores but here's an example.

Taylor barely beat North White. Tri County rolled North White. Taylor easily beat Tri County. I'm not saying Taylor is gonna win but #12 was the fastest kid I saw Winamac play this season.

Adam Berry is the best coach in west central Indiana. The guy is more than just “the dude who lucked into Jack Kiser.” Dude knows ball.

This take is very subjective. What criteria are you basing this on? What are the boundaries?

I'll see your Adam Berry and raise you Mike Johnson, the guy that built the program that Berry inherited. Or I can throw in a Russ Radke. Love him or hate him, the dude can flat out coach and wins. Lambert at North Judson has to be in the conversation as well.

I'm not saying Berry isn't a good coach, I'm just saying it's premature to call him the best in the area.

I think Adam is a great coach but the guy West of him takes the title. Mr Kevin O Shea.

If you are gonna diminish what Adam has done at Pioneer because the program he inherited, you can take Coach Radtkes Griffith and Knox jobs away. Griffith was a solid program before he took over with a lot of talent coming up through the pipelines..particularly Bo and Shane's classes..which both were aided by their additions..and John Hendryx had that program humming and only left because his alma Mater opened up. John would be having the same success at Knox (plus they'd still have Danny McGowen on the sidelines+ his sons)

I will say though Coach Radtke is legit and a great coach.

How good are the top 4 teams in the HNAC?  The only non-conference losses by any of those teams were to 3A Knox (Pioneer) and 2A Bremen (Triton) - who are both playing for sectional titles this week.  I think the real measure will come in the regional game between either North Miami or Triton, and Madison Grant.  An HNAC win in that game would absolutely solidify the HNAC as the best 1A football conference in the state!

Maybe I am way off, but I took it as he was talking about 1A, due to all of this talk was about 1A Sectionals.

But, I could be wrong, Berry is very well respected, and earned that victory Friday with a great game plan!

LaVille at North Judson- Every year this is a tough battled game and both teams are a much improved team since their week 2 matchup. Hopefully judson does not overlook them but my belief is that Judson will continue to handle their business. Weird things always happen at LaVille... Jays win 30-14

Taylor at Pioneer- Taylor has certainly had an up and down season and seems like a team that can surprise anyone. Pioneer has had a quietly good season that has gone under the radar to anyone outside the HNAC conference until last Friday's beatdown of Carrol. Both teams have great athletes at QB but Pioneer's discipline makes the difference. Panthers win 35-14

Triton at North Miami- Both of these teams have been playing well since their last matchup. Think this game is truly a toss up. It may depend on which team gets distracted by the Ham salad sandwhiches on the sideline.  🤣 Triton wins 22-21

He could have been talking 1A, I don't know that either. I'm not taking anything away from Berry, I even said that in my post. Even with talent, there still has to be a good coach leading them and Berry has done that so far. I'm not trying to stir any pots either. I just simply stated that calling Berry the best coach in West Central Indiana is a bit premature in his young career as there are many that can lay claim to that. He may very well think that Berry is God's gift to football, I have no idea. I'm simply showing that there are many candidates that can have an argument based on their success (some coaches at multiple schools) and geographic location.

I don't' want to turn this thread into who is the best coach argument, I simply stated an opinion. There are some good teams left in the tournament from the HNAC so I'll revert this thread back to that. Good luck to all teams this week.

It will either be the ham salad sammiches or the faint smell cow crap. It'll be one of those 2.
