People truly think we should take knees with like... 8 mins to go in a game? Honestly, that's like Top 5 craziest things I've heard, if so

There's not many "people" who think this, there's really one person driving this narrative and that person is Muda. And what's worse is that he thinks this should happen anytime the deficit threshold crosses 35 points. I've seen plenty of games where the score is 35-0 at the end of the 1st quarter/early 2nd quarter. Imagine practicing all week (regardless of what side of the ball you're on) and having the other team literally not play football for the remaining 2+ quarters. I'd be far more embarrassed as a player, coach, fan of a losing if a team took a knee for 2+ quarters than losing in blowout fashion, even if we lost 100-0.

LCC taking a knee in the middle of the second quarter would have been far more humiliating. Notice how you're the only one who remembers the time, date, and score? I will guarantee you the sun still came up the next day for those kids at Clinton Prairie.

Nice to know you didn't forget.

1. No chance I'm giving up 8 more minutes to teach, sure we will sub the JV in and run offense, but we aren't taking knees. No one should. We earn those 48 mins of game every week from film Saturday, scouting report meeting/film before school, and 4 days worth of practice. Not to mention the summer/off-season workouts. I am not giving up time to teach our kids, period, not happening.

2. Again, everyone should mind their own business.

Spot on!

1000000%

Pushing the narrative, yes, I agree, does seem like one person. It seemed like others were confused about when taking a knee is acceptable, though.

If there are more than 2 minutes left in a game (under 2 min you can run the clock out in 3 downs).. there shouldn't be knees taken.

I personally wouldn't take a knee in a game unless unless it was literally to effectively end the game ie game ending first down with say 2:30 left and the opposing team has no timeouts. But if 3rd and 4th stringers are in there, they are playing football until the clock reads 0:00.

Right right. I have no issue with that either. That's the way we do it.

I'm just saying... 8 mins to go, 5 mins to go... there should NOT be knees taken.

Where is this acceptability of taking a knee enumerated in something like the NFHS rulebook?  Or is this simply a coaching legend?

And this is why Brownstown continues to be a dominant football program year in and year out. You get my vote Cam when Reed decides to hang it up.

Clock wouldn't stop on an incompletion (in the 2nd half) in a game where one team was up by 35+ points due to a mandated running clock. I don't have an issue with backups/JV running their offense in a blowout so long as they aren't intentional running up the score. You want to run a slant or a 5 yard out to get your backup QB some reps by all means do it, it's the other teams job to stop it. Now running a flea flicker or double reverse up 49 in the 4th quarter regardless of who you have in the game is a no-no, but again that's common sense and happens so infrequently that it doesn't warrant discussion on a thread like this.

Back in the pre-running clock days, I was at a game where one team absolutely gashed another by running the ball (the JV running back came in and gained something like 120 yards in the second half). They were getting 10-15 yards per carry, even on dives, because their OL was just dominating.

So they decided to start working on stuff. Reporter for the losing team's local paper - who has a reputation for being a bit of a homer - immediately tweets "team is up 50 and going 5-wide and throwing," which, of course, got some traction. Dude - they were throwing 5-yard out routes to try to keep the score down because they were gaining 15 every time they ran between the tackles.
