I picked South Putnams to win 1A south when Lutherans moved up last year. Nothing has changed my mind.

The most shocking part about last night was that the QB didn't even need to be there.  Sheridan was allowing Benton to do literally whatever he wanted.

I has not heard much about them before last season but I've been following. Man are they big up front and got some young guys all over the field.

Solid program but had Lutherans in front of them. They came in 2nd at the Lafayette Jeff lineman challenge. They can throw when they want as well

If Judson wants to win it. Its the season to do it. They are absolutely loaded, had a relatively easy path (no lcc, no Adams Central, laville was down, conference foes like Pioneer and Winamac are not even to that level. They'll be good the next 3 years but nothing like this. Pioneer lost 1 starter and has boatload of talent coming back. Not sure what Carroll or LaVille brings back and Winamac is another season away from fully competing with NJ. Caston has some good sophomores and freshman but not sure they'll have enough.

Judson goes up if they win it all this year.  Gonna open 1A even further in 2025 if that happens.

Will their sectional be just 7 teams or will a team move down or over to accommodate?

I'm actually not sure about this.  I believe everything has to be adjusted, because I believe the bottom team in 2A then moves down?  I could be wrong though.

Thanks for an honest answer. Some people (usually not from Sheridan) throw a shit fit and give down votes if you pick against them. I swear to God they do.

Gut Says NJSP vs Providence in the title game but both teams will need to bring their A game each week.

Should of just stuck with what my gut was telling me.

Anyone have the scoop on Providence?

Seen them 3 times. They don't turn ball over. Commit few penalties. Well coached. QB is best player by far. Kempf is extremely fast and can throw pretty good. They have good size. Defensively they just seem to make timely plays. They aren't dominate. Hamilton for Springs Valley ran for about 240. Putnam moved the ball pretty good and Corydon threw the ball on them pretty good at times too. Hard to explain. They are good but never really seem dominate which making it to state you would expect. I would say NJ is favored but i also thought SP would win last week.

They get picks. Was up 28-0 against Valley early 3rd. They did a good job on Hamilton until 2nd half. He had 2 50+ TD runs. Corydon had a KO return, long screen pass for a TD. Putnam had a KR TD. Feels like they give up big plays alot. They just seem to always do enough to win.

Gotta say I'm pretty surprised Providence won it all. I guess i got used to seeing a team who seemed head and shoulders better then everyone (LCC, Pioneer, Lutheran, Linton, Covenant Christian) and figured they weren't. Could just be the new 1A where we have alot of equal teams are top and you just gotta bring your A game every week. Providence did. 1 football title in school history. Props to Kempf. Hell of a player

Judson's issues still seem to be an issue..

Adams Central. Just as physical and big... can throw and run...wayyy more speed.

Providence. Just as physical and big. They can throw and run...more speed

North Judson's inability to stop the pass and not throwing the ball is gonna doom them any time they get deep into the playoffs.

lol they gave up like 48 passing yards.

Now did the QB run all over them? Yes, yes he did.

jays had a horrible first half and still ended up making it a game.  If they are healthy I think the outcome is much different but Providence played one heck of a game and earned the win.

Providence's QB could have easily diced up that secondary but they had success on the ground and chose to do that but I wasn't talking about today's game in regards to the pass D. Any time North Judson plays a consistent throwing QB late in season they get beat.

Adams Central in 2023,2022 and 2021. Hell Russell Compton threw for like 175 yards in 2020.

Providence QB was stellar. Providence was clearly better today no question and they stuffed NJ much of the game, but NJ not having their QB in the run game was glaring. Noticed last week he was hobbled severely in Sstate and thought that could be huge going forward and it was as second play ran midline and he pulled and was hobbling to run. He’s the catalyst for all they do. Real shame to see that, was he injured in regional or sectional?

Was injured in third quarter of regional when they were up 54-0.  Coaches have to make decisions when to pull kids- some pull them early try to keep them healthy- some leave them and pad their stats- all have to live with those decisions.

Totally agree.  He didn't look right last week at the Semi-State, IMO.

Then had a number of guys today, say that they saw a NOTICEABLE limp during the game from him, but he was "toughing" it out.

My guess is he was playing with something broke or something that would normally put you out a month or 2.

It killed our offense the last 2 weeks but we were overcome it at semi- state. At state it killed us on both sides of the ball because not only does he make our offense go, he typically covered sideline to sideline on defense.

Coaching inexperience or pride can both be killers at the 1a level when it comes to pulling starters with a big lead. Shutouts and stats are great but a healthy team is more important when depth is a factor.
