Lysander Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) State Championship game. The new "Sectional of Death" (I think that was the name @foxbat came up with these last few years). Now just finish. Congrats to HH. Edited November 9, 2024 by Lysander 1 Quote
Boilernation Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Great game. I’ve been very bullish on Memorial all year. Probably should have taken the time to watch HH play. They have some playmakers on O starting with the younger Goldsberry. He’s a tough player just like his dad was. Cool atmosphere with fans lining the sidelines. I’m surprised they were allowed to be right on the sidelines and endzones! Quote
TigerFan20 Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Heritage Hills, oh boy what a train of team they have. They are going to run away to the State Championship game. Hell of a team in Lincoln City, players were flying all over the field offensively and defensively. Tough to see my Tigers bow out, gave them all they had in the 2H and I wish for the best for the Seniors! Go represent the South Heritage Hills! 4 Quote
PAC FAN Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) MEM QB is a gun slinger quickest release and amazed how fast the ball gets to his receivers… I think biggest thing that hurt the tigers was not being very run pass balanced. Obviously we knew he could sling it and our guys just wanted to keep the pass play in front and then close it down. MeM’s front line did a great job of protecting their QB what run game MeM did have was shut off with Patriots only allowing 47 for the game. over all a clean game . Too bad it had to end in a Sectional as I say these two teams… either one could win a championship for SWI! Edited November 9, 2024 by PAC FAN Quote

I still compare this game to our Castle game. And if PAC/HH doesn't think that is a complement, you need to look up Castle and watch the game with Memorial. Memorial offense could not be stopped and really only stopped itself. And that was what was needed to win. 28-21 Castle Possession Time, 31:31 Mem Possession Time, 16:29 Castle had the ball near literally the entire 3rd quarter minus about 30seconds. If Memorial has an offensive game like vs SR. It's a HH win. But those games are seldom for Fisher to be inaccurate. The North game was the only other one this season. So I don't expect that again, especially if he is not hurried. This may be contrary, but I don't think HH DL foot speed will do the trick. Even Michigan DL Commit Patterson only got to Fisher once and I don't really remember their D1 LB commit Leach being much of a factor either. I'm also looking forward to seeing what happens on that 3-8 front HH puts out. I'm not so sure how effective it will be. If HH has face a super accurate QB that throws 90+ mph fast balls, let me know who it was. The Memorial defense will need to do what it does, but a little better. I am expecting maybe one big break away play for TD for HH. Not the multiple a game they usually get. McCool, who physically, speed and strength, is near identical to Goldsberry, got one for Castle. Castle's throwing capability is better in than HH in my opinion. I think 4 out 5 passes go to #8Ruxer and beyond that not much. HH will need to get some of those pass plays going. Bottom line, I expect it to be a great game and both teams must play their best to win. It was a good game and was not too surprising for me except HH made the big passing plays in 1st half that I didn't think they would get. Plus Memorial not finishing the drives early and getting put in a hole. That was the difference in my mind. Goldsberry does look to be more evasive then McCool. I actually think Memorial defense played him well compared to my expectations. His break away run came at end of game in a desperate stop short yardage runs for first down scenario. I thought he would have had one earlier. Good Luck HH. Great game. Quote

Crossing over the midfield twice and then allowing 2 more TDs after that definitely hurt in the 1H going down 21-0. I’m glad they eventually tied it up in the 3Q, but that kickoff return from Meredith to the Memorial 38 and the Facemask penalty was a momentum swinger for HH. And Memorial not converting those 3rd/4th and 4 early in the 4Q to potentially tying up 28-28. However, Heritage Hills has been a rolling freight train all season and is such a well coached team. As for next year, some big shoes to fill for the Tigers, although enough supporting cast will return. Quote
Cappy Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Per the Courier… “This game proved how difficult Heritage Hills can be to stop. Jett Goldsberry had his moments, some grander than others. The junior quarterback completed 7 of 8 passes for 107 yards and rushed for 197 on 27 touches. He accounted for four of the Patriots’ five touchdowns” I thought Jett was really explosive early and really good late. Quote
jets Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 1st of all - Congrats to the Patriots. You guys were the class of the PAC this year and showed your medal last night taking out the undefeated SIAC champs. Well done and best of luck moving forward Speaking of moving forward - it looks like it is a REAL possibility the Patriots won't have to leave the Jungle in their quest to return to Lucas Oil?!? Did I read that correctly? I've made my thoughts known about Sect. 31 (see below) - congrats to North Harrison - but what a JOKE of a job the IHSAA did with that Sectional alignment. In what world can anyone look at the alignment of 31...then look at 32, and think that is a fair allocation of teams?? "I'll just say this one time and be done with it - cause it is what it is at this point - but what a JOKE when comparing the 2 sectionals. Anyone with half-a-brain could have figured out a more even/balanced scenarios for the tournament. Yes, there'd be 2 hour drive times - but newsflash - there are 2 hour drive times anyway already in 31. Again - it is what it is - but the incompetency of the IHSAA just never ceases to amaze. HHPatriots Posted November 9, 2024 Author Posted November 9, 2024 Congrats to Memorial on a good season and what turned out to be a game that made every Patriot nervous, if we are being honest. Memorial QB is the real deal--impressive kid along with the rest of that team. Great atmosphere, great night. 1 Quote

I don't see any geographic logic other than what the IHSAA did. I would be interested to see what the total gate receipt numbers are for Sectional 32. As pretty much everyone on here was saying since the assignments were made, whoever came out of Sectional 32 was going to be the prohibitive favorite to win 3A. That definitely still holds true. 2 Quote
TigerFan20 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 860 total yards of offense last Friday during the Sectional Championship game, Memorial with 460 yards and HH with an even 400 yards. Both teams had incredible plays to move the ball down the field. And for the most important statistic, Patriot Burgers eaten, a total of 2. 1 Quote

Geographically, in the current state of 3A - you are correct. There probably wasn't much else to do. However, the IHSAA hasn't always just used geography for such matters. For years, Floyd Central and New Albany came to SR wrestling sectionals (while Tell City passed them going the other way to Jeff) - never made sense GEOGRAPHICALLY. Sounds like sour grapes to keep bringing it up, so I'll put it to bed and let sleeping dogs lie - but the pass the IHSAA gets (few years ago I believe it was Sect. 30 that was laughable) - never ceases to amaze me. To ultimately get to the question you asked - there has been precedent to send SR and HH east and send the Eville area schools up 41 ...but it doesn't just have to be a combination of 31&32. In the end doesn't much matter...just a pet peeve of mine. Quote
