Let's just conclude that Adams Central drawing from Southern Allen County is stretching it. I'm not disagreeing in an "one off (or 2) "from Southern Allen County. But I certainly see those in North Adams, Blackford and even Wells heading over to Monroe and Geneva. Hopefully, as a FB supporter, this is just a cyclical situation at his time. 1 Quote

And besides, the AC program starts in grade school/PAL.... You honestly believe that kids can come in and miraculously "learn" that system? Just a hunch. Kids have to be coming from somewhere, and I didn't mean for it to sound like it was just because of football. The enrollment for Adams Central has continued to grow over the past couple of years at a very high rate. A school that is consistently in 1A for many years starts to make it to the state championship year in and year out, then would've been in 2A regardless of success factor due to enrollment. Kids are being drawn there from somewhere and for some reason. My guess was outskirts of Fort Wayne but could be from anywhere. Can't ignore the growth in enrollment though. There are many Jets fans on here that if they see this have a better explanation than I do, but like I said can't ignore the numbers. I've always said schools are kidding themselves if they think kids are just coming to a school for the academic draw. It's always been about sports more times than not when it comes to transfers. Watch Adams Central. It's not like they are running a lot of plays. Give kids a little bit of credit. Learning "belly", "down", "down option", and "rocket sweep" could happen within a summer. 2 1 Quote
260AC Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 AFAIK several years back it was made easier to go to schools within Adams County even if you didn't live in the district. But AC has had a waiting list for quite awhile. Yes AC has turned into quite the program lately but its not like it wasn't without success before. They made it to semi state 13 times before the recent runs and only won 1 time. I'm not sure what sent them over the hump lately but its not because of recruits from other districts lol. I think there was 2 kids from Decatur on the team the past 5 years, other than that im not aware of any transfers. 1 Quote

I can only assume Coach Mosser knows what he's doing and can get kids up to speed based upon their position, expected role, and amount of experience. Just a guess, but his track record suggests a guy who knows what he's doing🤷♂️ 2 Quote

But....................... Let's say a kid from Wayne High School (Southern Fort Wayne) or a kid from Heritage High School (Southern Allen County) was in competition for the QB or RB position with someone slightly better. Or maybe they're competing against the coaches son (no disrespect intended). Maybe it would makes sense for that kid to commute 20-25 minutes to a school that would ensure a starting role (Adams Central). I wouldn't be surprised if Adams Central built their entire program around kids from the local community. The coaching staff really does appear to be that good. But I also wouldn't be surprised if there was a transfer here and there. I honestly don't know, it's all speculation from where I'm sitting. Quote

Also brought up the good point about AC's success before all the state runner ups. Still can't ignore the enrollment going up. Maybe other sports? Maybe AC's academics are just that good lol? You bring up a good point for most kids going from a large school to a smaller one for playing time, but with AC's athletes they might not still get the job there either. But like you said just suspicion, either way the school knows how to win. To get back on the topic at hand(I apologize for kind of derailing it), they are my favorites for the North in 2A until someone proves otherwise. Quote

I don't see it as a big school/little school issue. A 2A school could be loaded at the RB position. The kid decides to transfer to a 6A school that needs help at that position. Could go either way. 2 Quote

Just a week ago 247 was showing two receivers from Northrop in their state rankings. If that's the case, the Bruins will have a very dangerous offense. Until they learn to play defense though, they can't be considered a contender. Quote

It was just an observation from watching years of high school football. No doubt, a few good players can have a major impact on the newcomers. I think NC's coaching staff is probably their best asset? The same reason I have CP, Snider, and Carroll as the top contenders from the North. 1 1 Quote
adambetz Posted March 12, 2025 Posted March 12, 2025 (edited) Northrop could get half of Luers' returners and I still don't see them being over .500. It's not a talent thing, they've had talent in the past and have still been in the basement with Southside. Even when Northside was seemingly sucking up all the talent in the Summit City the past few years, they haven't even been able to do much anything of note. Snider has the winning program with great coaches and culture. Luers has tradition and a storied program competing at a lower enrollment level. Homestead and Carroll are both strong programs and are only getting stronger, with the resources to pour everything they can into player development. Northrop has none of that. They've only beaten Snider, Homestead, Carroll and Dwenger TWICE combined since before their current players were born. It's gonna take a lot of work to make serious headway in this program, not just an athletic class of transfers. As far as if Luers loses transfers, they'll probably still be above .500 and playing deep into November regardless. Edited March 12, 2025 by adambetz 1 Quote

I think they are situated well for the transfer rule to work in their favor....they will attract top talent, they could lose depth type kids to places like Tri-West but on the other hand they will pull a lot of top talent away from some of those same places.
