Are we sleeping on Center Grove not at #1? 6'3 QB with multiple D1 offers. Multiple D1 offers on both lines. Then throw in you can always count on the Trojans having speed at the skill positions.

Maconaquah at #3 in 3A is wild. Last years team you could make an argument maybe. Graduating 3,000 yards of offense and 31 of your 46 touchdowns is gonna be hard to replace. Maybe someone knows more than I do. Must have had a great offseason in the portal.

Go Braves.

That said we all know these preseason polls are at least 50% a "reward" for prior season success.

IMHO Rochester is probably the cream of the crop in the TRC this season, not Maconaquah.

I couldn't believe Heritage Hills gave them that bad of a beatdown.

I wouldn't call that game a beatdown. HH scored a TD with a minute to go to ice it away. It was a great game between the two best teams in 3A.

2H was pretty close since Memorial tied up 21-21 in the middle of the 3Q after being down 21-0 in the 1H. But HH set tone early in the game and rebounded from the comeback in the 4Q. That was one physical and quick team to watch from the stands.

What are your thoughts playing Snider and Warren Central the first 2 weeks? This is a huge upgrade and Warsaw deserves kudos for aggressively scheduling those 2 teams.

Definitely a huge upgrade but nothing out of the ordinary with how things have gone under Coach Curtis. For years, the Tigers opened up with county "rival" Tippecanoe Valley (3A) and then added Columbia City (who - don't get me wrong have really turned into a solid 4A program the last few seasons). After a few years, subbed out Tippy Valley with Homestead, which was a good step up for the Tigers. But when that series ended, Warsaw added East Noble (again - a really strong 4A program) which was a competitive series, but were those two teams really preparing the Tigers for the 6A tournament?

Tigers then added 5A DAC programs Michigan City and Chesterton, as well as a single season playing perennial Ohio Division 1 playoff program Dublin Coffman. (They had 2 years of Huntington North as well due to a need to fill a gap after the Columbia City contract ended).

Added Warren Central last year, and this year will host the Warriors in Week 2 after playing at FW Snider.

These games do nothing but improve the program, and I commend the coaching staff and athletic departments for getting them scheduled.

Why did city and Warsaw stop playing?

I honestly cannot tell you. I really liked that series and it was a competitive one. I think it was simply just what was agreed to. They had a 2-year contract for Week 2, and then a 4-year contract for Week 1.

True. Seems like a lot of Duneland schools are upgrading schedule. Look forward to seeing if Merrillville and crown point can lock there week 2 games in for long term

We like the team we have coming back. I hope you are right. Until someone dethrones them this year though, Mac is still the champs. We might get spoiled and get another Week 9 Conference Championship for a second year in a row. The atmosphere for the game last year was a cool one. Would be cool to have it again.

Mississinewa being ranked #1 in 3A is actually surprising to me.  Mississinewa has a new coach, who was the DC the last few years and is going to continue to be the DC.  The OC returned as well.  For much of last season Mississinewa was the #1 ranked defense in the country.  Yes, they lost to Luers in the Sectional Championship game.  Mississinewa got down early but came back strong in the final quarter to be in position to win the game.  Mississinewa returns 7 starters on each side of the ball from last year but will have a new QB.  Mississinewa is still the team to beat in the CIC according to the CIC coaches.

Eastbrook surprises me to be #12 in 2A because they weren't the typical Eastbrook team from years past.  Not sure what they return but from rumblings they may be young.  Despite this they will still compete in the CIC and probably finish 2nd this year.
