Can they? Yes. Will they? I don’t know. Plymouth is a proud community and if the right people commit they should rise back up.

Going to take a lot of energy by that entire staff to get excitement going again there... does coach Barron and his staff have it???

Plymnouth had less than 60 kids 9-12 in the program heading into the 2021 season.  They cancelled their freshman season for the 2nd year in a row, which has never happened previously.  The school has a very serious numbers problem, as do others in the NLC.  Plymouth, relative to normal seasons in the past , appears to be in the worst shape.

Looks like Plymouth Basketball is struggling as well.  What has happened to the athletic culture of that school?  In all but the most recent New Prairie's playoff meetings with them, they have represented themselves well.

I understand that communities and cultures change, but this seems to have happened VERY rapidly.

I worked a sectional at the Rockpile in 2009. I thought it was among the most supportive and animated student body cheering sections I had ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot. Hard to believe they’ve deteriorated to the point where they lack numbers.

If I didn't loathe the Rockies so much, I'd almost feel bad that there are football atheltes on the basketball team that have yet to taste a victory in the 2021-2022 school year. That's almost unimaginable, especially at Plymouth. They have one last chance in the calendar year 2021 to win a game on 12/30 against 1A West Central who is 1-6. If they lose that game, they will likely play a winless Knox team in the consolation game that evening.

What is it about Plymouth that generates so much antipathy.  Heck, Warsaw is twice Plymouths size now,  They are an ant in the afterbirth compared to the big bad Tigers.  What's the Rumpas?

What sports are important and what sports aren't is changing, probably along with the changing racial  demographic, which is now almost 30% Hispanic.  Also combine that with an almost 50% free/reduced lunches/textbook rate:  https://inview.doe.in.gov/schools/1054855945/population

History.  The school of Scott Skiles. Most people either loved or despised him.

Years of losing to and having battles with our US 30 rivals will do that. Plus hearing "FIRST DOWN RRRRRRRRRRRRRRROCKIES!" every other season at the Rock Pile 😂

My school has the same issue shifting demographics, is there a majority Hispanic school that has a solid football program?

There aren't too many majority-Hispanic high schools in Indiana, but of the ones that are, their football teams aren't any more than .500 at best.  River Forest is about 40% Hispanic and has boasted winning seasons the last three seasons.

Compare Details Student population at Portage High School is diverse. Racial makeup is: White (55.4%), Hispanic (24.3%), African American (13.7%). (See more...) Compare Details 50.1% of students are receiving a free or discounted lunch.

Portage is another school that is undergoing a demographic makeover, as hispanics now number 1 in every 4 students.  The Portage football program has been in steep decline over the past decade.  i believe this is the primary reason.

But is not a program built in the younger grades?  Do coaches who have been around for over 10 years get stale?  Rest on their history?  Have they adapted to the times?  Sure demographics are changing but what is each staff doing to build off the change?

Hobart has nearly 27% Hispanic, 8% Black and 47% FRL, yet they have done quite well at 8-4, 11-3, 11-3 and a visit to LOS in the last three seasons.

Good point.  Ive noticed that Hobart has some very solid hispanic players over the past several years.  They seem to be the exception to the rule  Hobart has maintained a football culture in the school.  Portage has not.  Therein likely lies the difference between the two.

Andrean also has some nice hispanic players on their rosters over the past several years.
