17 points in the span of 54 seconds on the game clock......HUGE.

ALWAYS defer when you win the toss.

Exception…when playing O$U.

How come everyone in the media continues to focus on what Georgia did wrong rather than what Notre Dame did right? SEC football is being normalized by the transfer portal, they might as well get used to it sooner than later. Now all schools have the ability to pay their players.

It’s pretty simple honestly.  They all have their preconceived notions about the SEC and make their “picks” before the game (all three studio analysts picked Georgia prior to the coin toss).

Rather than go back on their word and admit they were wrong, they save face by giving attention to what the losing team did wrong in an attempt to maintain some sort of credibility.

I can’t count on one hand how many times I’ve heard the same narrative go around about the Michigan/Ohio State game since 11/30.

”How did Ohio State lose to THAT Michigan team?”

Heard it after the win over Bama too.

SEC teams (and Ohio State) don’t get beaten by other teams, they only beat themselves.

Not sure anyone could have said that any better.

I gotta laugh everytime I hear that Parker Jones was one of the major reasons Georgia lost that game. Because they were guaranteed a touchdown against that Notre Dame defense, right? They WOULD have put the ball in the endzone, right? Parker Jones was 1/50 of the reason the Bulldogs lost that game. Most of it falls on the players who were out on the field........offense, defense, and special teams.

If only Georgia didn't turn the ball over! I guess a defender putting his hemet on the ball and forcing a fumble just isn't good football, it's the other team making a "mistake." If they just wouldn't have given up that kickoff return for a touchdown! Special teams isn't part of the game, nope.

For anyone who has forgotten. Football is defense, offense, and special teams. Notre Dame was better than Georgia two of the three, and that's why they won the game.

For the record, if Notre Dame could take back some of the silly penalties they had, maybe they win that game by three touchdowns. Kinda goes both ways here.

Looks like they spent more time on disguising coverages and no time on QB pressure. Not only do they DESPARATELY need a stop to start the half, they need a score.

Or containing Howard.  Trips left and the ND R DE crashes b gap with no overhang support.  Busted assignment or terrible play design.

Nice Irish comeback, but the better team won.  The hole just got too deep.  It seemed the Buckeyes thought the game was over after they scored to make it 28-7 with the first possession of the 2nd half.  Maybe they were right.

Looking forward to next year.  Lots of quality players returning for the Irish and some good QB talent right there on campus.  It was a very good season for the Irish, but only one team had a great season.

Frustrating to watch....but damn, they did go pretty far with an average QB. Watching the view from behind the offense, Leonard looked so much like Ian Book.....just cannot lead receivers. That said, they were off in every phase of the game, including special teams.

And defense.  No team penetrated the Irish defense like that.

Looked like they outsmarted themselves. If guys are confused about responsibilities on game day, chances are high that the plan was too complicated......and it did not involve getting pressure on the QB. Texas was able to get pressure often on Howard; probably should have watched more of that game.

I told some other friends when they asked, I said 31-17 myself OSU,  was not thrilled with the 2 pt conversion FINANCIALLY SPEAKING, but the gutsy fade to their DUDE who SHOULD be a top 10 pick THIS YEAR, a top 5 pick NEXT year and could very well be the #1 pick when he FINALLY gets to go to the NFL , he made the play and Howard delivered, however, the excitment I displayed FINACIALLY SPEAKING ONLY on that play not only got me into -8.5 range again, but also got over the HOWARD passing yards of 225, flannel man in beard at Station 21 was NOT a happy camper at me, to which I say, SORRY BOUT YA !!!!

ND needs to up their NIL money.  $20,000,000.00 looks to be the baseline.

Tremendous game plan early, but hard to go athletie on athlete with OSU  with the passing game limitations Leaonard on ND offense has.   Kudos to the year they had, grinded out many games, power run game, great coaching, players who are easy to root for (Kiser, Bowen, Leanard, Love etc)    way too many NFL guys accross the 53 yards from ND sideline

I did not check this for myself, but I heard a statement that OSU has 14, 5 star ranked players on their roster...ND has 1.  My guess is that most Big Ten teams have 0-1.

Agreed on all accounts. It's clear the 12 team playoff will help teams like Ohio State (i.e. enough talent to beat anyone but stumbled a few times in the regular season). I'm sure ND's coaches will kick themselves for allowing Smith to get into man coverage with no help over the top on a key 3rd and long. Day said after the game they had a few options on that play and were hoping to get Smith in man coverage.

I'm not a big "moral victory" type of guy. But, IMO, to come back from 28-7 to make a game of it late tells me the culture is VERY good at ND. Stating the obvious here, but they need to do anything possible to keep Freeman in South Bend.
