  1. A few ranked teams seem to be struggling early. Loved seeing the Ducks win in Columbus. Number 5 Texas A&M hangs on in Denver to beat unranked Colorado. The Irish have their own thread so won't discuss their struggle here. As we likely know though; any team in the top ten who is not Alabama, is just fighting for the chance to have their butts kicked by Bama.

  2. I can't believe you continue to sit behind a computer and say ignorant stuff, but here we are. Dominated? It was 21-14 in the 4th quarter, and FC had 3 turnovers to that point. But good try. Underachieved 3 years in a row? 3rd sectional in school history, more kids playing college ball, including the first ever D1 scholarship player, than ever before, but underachieved. Maybe pump more dollars in and you can hire someone who can magically make more 6'4 athletes.

  3. No real surprises tonight IMO. Thought Memorial/MD would've been a little closer than it was but not a shocker. Castle and Jasper took care of business. Reitz/North and VL/Central were coin flips and played out as such. Shout out to the Alices for a big win at home. After last Friday, I felt a good vibe with this team that I predicted would carry over to tonight. Was nice to see some hard work pay off. Now hopefully this momentum can lead to some good things next week for homecoming with the Knights paying a visit.

  4. New topic….for programs that may not get enough posts, comments, or attention to be in their own topic. I have seen a couple of these guest speakers talking to the kids on the Alabama football team. Kudos to Coach Saban for bringing some special people in to talk to his teams. Even though I am not much of an NBA fan, I do love the show on TNT with Ernie and the crew. Take some time if you have not yet, and look up Ernie Johnson. He is an inspiring individual. But this story his shares takes that to a whole new level.

  6. I was not shocked to see Ohio State go down as I consider them a work in progress. They still could run the table and have an outside shot to make the CFP, but I think Penn State has the B1G’s best chance behind Iowa.

  7. The sad thing is, East has beaten Center Grove more recent than North has…

  8. And they should be the favorite to win ci. I don't mean to slight bhsn I feel that bhss was the team being slighted. Bhsn is a very dangerous team as well as castle is in that southern 5a sectional. Any of those teams that work the hardest to improve down the stretch will win that sectional. As for CI cn will be the last threat to knock-off the Panthers and force a tie for the title. Unless they have a total.breakdown and lose to ths or Southport. Yet to be seen but in my opinion the conference and at least regional title is bhss' to lose at this point in the season.

  10. I guess I gave North a little too much credit by saying they had a slight edge at the QB and RB positions. It was just a gut feeling on my part that North would win in a close game, but my gut failed me this time around, and I'm pleased it did. Zach David had a huge game at QB for South throwing for 316 yards on 17 of 21 passing and no picks and was playing on a gimpy ankle. North's Lozano threw for 180 yards on 8 of 17 passing and one pick, with his passing numbers skewed by one pass that went for 73 yards and a TD. Che Hogue went for 158 yards on 30 carries outplaying his counterpart in Cody Michulich who went for 95 yards, but he was limited to 14 carries. Michulich rushed for 273 yards and three TDs against South last season. Hogue has now run for over 100 yards in every game this season so far after South failed to have a 100 yard rusher last season. South continues to be a team that accumulates a lot of penalties, especially major penalties which I assume is a result of aggressiveness and an occasional lack of composure which is almost always the case. The final score could have been much more of a blowout if South had scored in those three drives deep into the red zone only to come away empty, twice on downs and once on a missed FG after a major penalty . They should be a big favorite over a weak TH South next week in TH.

  11. Don't get me wrong Gaddis was a good coach but East had a tremendous run of talent through the program and talent is down in Columbus overall as @Frozen Tundra or somebody said PAAL football numbers are way down. Columbus used to have a solid travel team know as the Diesel which is no longer around as well. Vogel and staff are solid coaches and as I have said in the past contributed more than any of you ever can know to the success of Gaddis teams. North has gotten more talent of late because they appear to work harder on younger kids to convince them to come to North and play "big boy" football since they are 6A. I know this from first hand experience. From what I see talent will be down for a few years, I don't know the numbers or athletes in 6,7,and 8th grades so not sure if current players will develop to play at previous levels or if there is a "calvary" coming in a few years from middle school levels.

  15. These games are inevitable. Even when Chatard has been more well balanced and had a more experienced roster, these games are tough to win. But on “down” years, you will continue to see this kind of result. These are no longer similar schools, and they haven’t been in quite some time. The only reason people get caught up comparing them still is because old farts like me remember what it was like in the 80’s, 90’s and maybe very early 00’s, and can’t seem to let it go. I am guilty of this, myself, from time to time. But they are not the same schools. Do not have the same enrollment. Do not pull from the same barrel of fish. Cathedral has 200-300 kids in their football program (95 ish Freshman I believe). An amazing number of football players for their enrollment. And that has been steady for them. They don’t just have quality talent, they have depth. And that makes a big difference at any level. Helps them compete with the elite 6A schools as well. Cudos to Cathedral for having a very good team and program. Billy is doing wonders over there and they will be good for years to come. But Chatard will be fine. They are very young, have talented underclassmen, and their upperclassman are tough kids and will rebound. They will give Roncalli all they can handle in sectionals, and they will continue compete regularly for 3A/4A championships. It’s hard to ask for more than that.

  20. I’m trying to figure out why you threw 2013 out there. All I’m saying is that their last good year was 2014 and they knew it would be a good year based on everyone they brought back. So if they knew 2014 would be a good year then it would make more sense to leave after 2014 rather than 2013.

  21. I appreciate the jab, as it is deserved, of the 7 times we have played Chatard we have only beat them one time. "We want Bama!" Sure, until you get them. Everybody wants to play Chatard, until they do. But as we have always said here, until the rules change we just have to get stronger, faster, better. Regardless, enjoy the ride. It is a crap ton of fun.

  22. East's streak started in 2004, and that's when Madison's fortunes drastically plummeted.
