Coach Amstutz is one of the best underrated coaches in the state. Made me always feel like I was unprepared and was an idiot. 😀 He is a TREMONDOUS coach, very big shoes to fill. One of the BEST I have ever been around.

I think Amstutz is in the top five percentile as a head football coach. Hate to see him go, but I get the decision. Those are gritty kids up there in Kendallville. Hopefully their football tradition is maintained. Good luck to the next coach.

IHSAA make these changes now: 1. Adjust brackets to 32 in 6A and 1A, then split 5A - 2A with 61-64 schools in each. 2. Seed the Sectionals. Either complete seed or I’d be happy with seed top 2 and blind draw on the others as someone suggested earlier. 3. Neutral Site Semi State games 4. Keep LOS as home for all Championship games. Thats all. Too much to ask?

Why? The success factor is in place for a reason. Why punish a p/p school that hasn't had success?

I'll take that bet. I think that they won't get by both Roncalli and Cathedral. They'll be competitive, but they get Roncalli on the road this year ... and I'm not sold on the idea that Roncalli will be 4-7 again this coming season.

In 40 seasons of officiating high school football in the northern part of the state, I had the pleasure of officiating Penn games many times. Coach Yeoman had many notable achievements on the field. But what stood out in my mind, what separated him from many other very successful coaches, was his class and sportsmanship. It didn’t matter what the scoreboard said, he was the same. Penn is so fortunate to have had him in a position to positively influence so many. A great coach … and a better man.

BD vs Brownsburg/Cathedral/CG was the 6A title game. Snider vs Mishawaka was the 5A title game. East Central vs NorthWood was the 4A title game. Chatard vs Guerin Catholic was the 3A title game. Luers vs Eastside/Bluffton/LCC was the 2A title game. Lutheran vs Adams Central was the 1A title game.
