I'm not going to make any groundbreaking statement here, but the element of weather is a part of the game of football. I think people, including myself, are just commenting and writing this off as business as usual for SV. Lots of good teams lost across the state Friday night because they couldn't adjust to the elements. SV knew darn well they faced a much higher probability to lose to RP if they played in those elements on Friday. Hence the move to Saturday, which nearly back fired on them anyway. My question is this, Are you really that good of a team if you have to dictate when and where you get to play depending on what team you are playing? What message are you sending to your team? I know its cliche, but good teams really can play anyone, anywhere and in any conditions. Just another example of how SV will be getting ready for basketball/wrestling season before sectionals are over.

This might be why you are defending SV for postponing the game. Just a thought.

You're missing the forest through the trees. The point is, he wins everywhere he goes. He builds up programs and leaves them in a better place than he found them. That's a lot harder than being hired at say Ohio State or a Michigan where you have built in advantages that already put you in the 99th percentile.

Because there's a very real chance that Michigan is going to have to vacate several wins from the last few seasons including the national title.....what do you mean how is it overshadowed lol? Just like people will always remember Louisville vacating their 2013 national title due to a prostitution scandal.

I don't HATE Michigan. I view Michigan the same way I view Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc. I'll never root for any of them. Same way I view Kentucky, Purdue, etc in basketball as an IU fan. I can appreciate good teams and good programs when I see them however. Michigan had a fantastic season last year yet will always be overshadowed by an elaborate sign stealing scandal on top of several other level 1 infractions that ended with a ruling banning Jim Harbaugh from college football for a length of 4 years. It's hard to like somebody as arrogant as Jim Harbaugh. Ditto for somebody like Urban Meyer. Both great coaches who can't take accountability for their actions and the actions of their football program.

I believe Elmore is who you are referring to from JC to CN and I think he is deemed ineligible for the entire season. Not 100% sure. Mr Ratliff on here could probably let us know since his son is the current QB at CN.

That Sectional should be one to watch with LN and Cathedral and a potential sleeper in LC if they ever get things together on the same night.

He went from being the dude under Tom Allen to being another guy. Cooper Jr and Sarratt have outplayed him on the outside and he's not a slot like Price or Cross. The injury he suffered couple games ago, emergence of Cooper Jr and Sarratt transferring over to IU hindered him.

Under HCTA they lose the Maryland game. They probably beat Western Illinois pretty bad but more like 49-0, Charlotte is probably around 35-14 and they probably barely win against Florida International and UCLA is a closer game. That's the difference between Tom Allen and Curt Cignetti. Those teams aren't world beaters but Indiana took 4 of them to the woodshed and played bad but still won the 5th game. It's comparing how IU used to beat teams like that to how they are beating them now. That's what gets fans like myself excited and you can tell Cignetti is a different coach that Indiana hasn't had in a long time or ever. Indiana played Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State along with Penn State for years, it's about time the football gods gave Indiana a schedule that's watered down a bit. The biggest key for me is IU making sure Cig stays but also if he loses coaches (oc/DC, qb coach) Cig makes the right hires. That is what the downfall of Allen was. He missed bad on his hirings after McCullough, Hart, DeBoer and Womack left.

Probably somewhere between 7-10. Sagarin has them at #2, which is a bit high, but they are really good. The top 6 in 6A would be a pretty clear 1-6, then there's a tier of Cathedral/HSE/New Pal/Concord/Merrillville/Decatur Central/Martinsville.

Long time reader, first time speaker here. After watching almost every Bulldog snap this season, I expect this game to be blown wide open by C North early. Bloomington South is well coached by Johnson, but the boys up front for the bulldogs [Dumo Kak, Garret Long, Evan Saevre] will dominate per usual this Friday. Young qb Combs will feel the pressure the whole night. Offensively with Gino Prescott, and Braylon Thoman coming back to the field this week, they will tear up this young defense and weak secondary. My score prediction 42 - 10

1. Your reading comprehension is terrible because I clearly stated regular season. Iowa, Alabama, Washington all occurred AFTER the regular season and had no bearing on what a weak regular season schedule Michigan played last season. IF IU goes 11-1, they too will have the chance to add the number of bowl eligible teams on to their resume. Michigan played two ranked teams in the regular season. The same will be said for IU assuming Michigan holds up their end of the bargain. Not sure how many more times they can be bailed out by the officiating.

I know this was not my post. I did take Roncalli over DC. Decatur Central has always had talent but they can be so up and down it is hard to gauge them. They do on occasion play undisciplined at times and can get some untimely Personal Foul penalties. I picked Roncalli because 1) Roncalli is much improved over last year 2) Roncalli won't beat themselves and has very good discipline. I take Roncalli by the slimmest of margins instead of making it a pick-em. DC definitely has loads of potential. The manner they lost to Columbus North and the comeback they allowed Martinsville to have to beat them were head scratchers.

Agreed, coach. SV earned the conference title, assuming they win out, which shouldn’t be an issue. And yes, most did know this would happen as soon as the 10 day forecast was released prior to the game and it showed a strong possibility of rain. (It was the third game in a row SV moved their home Friday night game to Saturday vs RP). And kuddos to SV, if they can take advantage of weather to benefit their style, do it. Sadly, if Attica was on the schedule for that night, I not convinced that SV dictates the game to be moved. I also don’t believe North Posey, nor Linton, would be as kind and hospitable come sectional time.

When has the schedule been any different? They’ve beaten two teams who won 8 games the year prior by a combined score of 84-41.

He’s going to win 10+ games at a school who has never won 10 games in a season at any point during its 137 year history. And he’s going to do it with a bunch of former G5/FCS level players. Let that sink in. Wait till he starts getting P5 level players regardless if it’s at IU or another program who hires him away.

Is the coaching industry the one profession you can fail upwards? Guy is two years removed from going 31-28 at Ben Davis of all places and is now calling plays for a B10 program.

Week 7 games in CI: Bloomington North (5-1) @ Columbus East (4-2) - Both teams step out of conference play for a game. The Columbus East Olympians have won four straight games, all in the HHC, and will be facing their best opponent since playing crosstown rival Col. North. The Bloomington North Cougars have won five straight games since their season opening loss to Mooresville. East is much improved as the season wore on, so the North Cougars will need to bring their "A" game this Friday, something they have not always done this season. The Cougars got behind 20-0 in the first qtr in their season opening loss to Mooresville and played catchup the rest of the game, falling short by 3 points. Against TH North a couple of games ago, they played about as poorly as they can play in a game full of mistakes, all on major penalties and turnovers. They survived the TH North game winning by 10 points against a bad team. Do that against East and they will be looking at a loss. East needs to corral or hold down North sr QB Dash King who can beat you with his arm and legs. Do that, and the Olympians can come away with a win. If North brings their "A" game, then they should win the contest. (JH's site prediction - Bloomington North 31 Columbus East 24) Columbus North (5-1) @ Bloomington South (4-2) - The South Panthers are a very young team (14 seniors on a roster of almost 90 players) after having to replace 17 starters at the start of the season and they have improved as the season has progressed. They will have their hands full with a strong Columbus North Bull Dog team coming to town that will feature the 1-2 punch of jr QB Asher Ratliff and sr RB Gino Prescott. South will need to be hitting on all cylinders on offense to come away with a win and they will need a strong running game from jr RB Braylen Townsend which is easier said than done with the Bull Dog defense shutting down most offenses this season. The Bull Dogs held TH North's Zyeiar White to just 12 yards on 14 carries last week and he came into that game with a 165 ypg average. South's young secondary is a real concern for this game. I would have to give the nod to the Bull Dogs in this game. (JH's site prediction - Columbus North 35 Bloomington South 21) Terre Haute South (1-4) @ Brebeuf Jesuit (4-2) - The Terre Haute South Braves make the trip to Indy to play a Brebeuf Jesuit Braves team that has a high-powered offense, so it's the Braves vs the Braves this Friday. Both teams are coming off tough losses last Friday with the TH South Braves falling to Northview on a last second FG, while the Brebeuf Braves lost to Roncalli by 19 points. Both teams have strong QB play with the South Braves being led by sr Brady Wilson who throws for 229 ypg, while the Brebeuf Braves are led by sr Maverick Geske who throws for 315 ypg. Both teams have strong runners with the Brebeuf Braves led by sr CJ Harris who averages 164 ypg on the ground, while the THS Braves are led by jr Tyisaac Corbin who averages 119 ypg on the ground. I see the home team in Brebeuf winning what could be a fairly high scoring game. (JH's site prediction - Brebeuf Jesuit 45 Terre Haute South 35) Southport (0-6) @ Terre Haute North (1-5) - This could be the Southport Cardinals best chance to win a regular season game, but the problem is that the Cardinals have shown no improvement to speak of since last season while the Terre Haute North Patriots are an improved team since last season although their record doesn't show much improvement. The North Patriots lost at Southport last season 43-7. Both teams have anemic passing attacks with the THN Braves averaging 127.2 ypg while the Southport Cardinals average a really weak 59.8 ypg through the air. THN Braves have a big advantage on the ground averaging 212.5 ypg while Southport rushes for 86.3 ypg. THN's Zyeiar White is the big difference in this game with his 145.0 ypg which gives them the edge over Southport. I believe the Patriots are going to reverse the outcome from last season and get their second win of the season. (JH's site prediction - Terre Haute North 35 Southport 28)

Interestingly enough, we finish with our last 2 games on natural grass - at Vincennes Lincoln and at Bosse Field against Castle. We haven't played back to back games on real grass since 2019 when we played at Castle and then at Boonville.
