Big break for Cathedral as they essentially get a 2 week bye. LN should handle LC but LC did put up a fight against LN in week 1 giving them their closest game to date.

I don’t doubt CP is a good football team this year. That being said, they’d still be a decided underdog against whomever from the South bracket if they are fortunate enough to get there.

Cathedral beefing up their schedule and playing a modern game of football made them the more attractive school. Roncalli was about a decade late in that regard and for whatever reason decided to drop the two best programs on their schedule (Center Grove and Cathedral).

To be fair, even though it was game 1, Snider played Warren better than Warsaw, LC, Carmel, and North Central did. I think Snider is likely 4-4 with BD’s current schedule. Carroll crushed Snider and has been pretty solid outside of their blowout loss to HSE. They played CG BETTER than BD did IN GREENWOOD. Give the Chargers BD’s schedule and they are somewhere around 4-4/5-3. As for Mishawaka, I think the gap is fairly significant to them. They don’t win more than 2-3 games against BD’s schedule in my opinion. And I’d like to stay that these numbers may be inflated a bit due to the fact that I’m viewing these matchups in a vacuum as opposed to cumulatively as we know the wear and tear of a MIC/HCC schedule takes its toll. I see what everyone is saying, but I always go back to the same line which is I have to reward teams that win. I’m not just going to shuffle around the same 6A teams that are hovering around .500. That’s not how it works.

Really respect temp and his rankings , spot on in a lot of cases. Not to many gave CP a chance last year and guess what , they made it and got blown out ! You can’t win it unless you’ve been there. Don’t sleep on the dogs , teams have been jumping them in rankings for what ever reason. I think 6A is up in the air for any team to win ! Noblesville went into Brownsburg and ran power at them and ate the clock and showed a weakness! Center Grove plays the hardest schedule. Westfield is way better than they were last year. Warren can win on defense. Lawerence is scary good . Very hard to pick a number one with so many good teams in the Indy area . I am a cp fan , hope we can make it again and make it a competitive game.

Unfortunately, this happens far too frequently. Under NF rules, on a kick try (extra point) the ball is dead as soon as it is apparent that the kick has failed. Not so on a field goal attempt. But a field goal from that distance looks like a kick try, and muscle memory kicks in so you blow the whistle when the kick fails. That’s why the proper mechanic is for the crew members to all communicate with one another before the play that “it’s a field goal, the ball remains alive.” Not an excuse. Just an explanation.

BINGO on Swift! He is a huge asset for CW to have back there. I'm glad to finally have you onboard, Bob. I've read that Waldren hasn't been holding back. They're taking advantage of his intelligence and feeding him the entire playbook. And it's supposedly complex. As you said, he's progressed to the point where he's taking the time to read the defense and calling checks at the line. It's impressive to see. And his accuracy and ability to put the ball where it needs to be to get caught is impressive as well. The backshoulder TD pass to Allen was an absolutely perfectly thrown ball. The TD pass that was called back for illegal shift looked like it was an absolutely dime on a quick roll out. We didn't get a replay of it though. Just goes to show how badly he missed Moore for a TD on the INT. That was a complete brain cramp of a play. Easy TD. Great to see him bounceback right back wiht a TD drive.

Forgot about Mishawaka and Concord, dropped it to 21.

Memorial plays Castle. So Reitz hosts Central in Sectional 24 so Memorial at MD will be somewhere other than the bowl, I would bet at Central.

Groundhog Day around here every year. "New Pal doesn't play anybody!" is said every time Mt. Vernon isn't any good. So they continue to schedule above their class in non-conference...usually roll through the HHC (similarly to how Columbus East used to) and end up playing in Regional, Semi-State or State. Of course a 4A team wouldn't fair well playing a 6A schedule, they have 50 less kids. But the Dragons have multiple kids with D1 offers and could beat anybody in the state on a given Friday. Yes, they belong in the top 10.

I want to reiterate that the point of my post wasn’t to claim that CP will win or should win State. I’m not here to guarantee outcomes. Instead, my focus was on addressing the general perception—or lack thereof—about CP and other schools that aren’t from Indy. My intention was to draw attention to how CP, despite being a strong team, this year, is often overlooked on this site. This is Coach Buz's 4th year at CP. It is clear every year he has been there, the team has improved. CP was not a football school before Buz--again, last year was the first time the school EVER made it to state. Accordingly, I NEVER said CP was unstoppable, or anything of that nature. ALL I stated was that they had improved. I never even stated that they were guaranteed to get to state!

Ok I guess I am going to take the bait here. I have been the flag bearer for all teams North for years. CP would be a 5-3 team right now if they were playing the schedule that Indy teams are playing. You are very much sounding like Merrillville fan a couple years ago on here stating that with their 45 D1 players, they were unstoppable. We know the end of that story… Been the same story for years in 6A. I want the North to be competitive in 6A, but I need to see it first, I am now part of the show me, not tell me. Time to put up or shut up for CP fans

We would not fit in the Midwest Conference, NOR would they even think about inviting Rensselaer to the MWC Our school, has had a nice long run (2001) in the Hoosier Conference in Football, winning the conference 6 times (none in the 2 division model) and have had many great games and battles with many of the schools that have been in and have also left. Here is the facts: We have 440ish kids currently with around 40 who are ESL students/transient populated. Our incoming freshman class was 84 I think of which was only 39 boys. Hoosier Conference has grown with bigger schools such as Logansport who we play this week, just 10 years ago in our State Title year, we had around 540 students in the building. Bottom line, we are not going to all of sudden start growing in our community, SJC closing hurt, and just different population in the hallways these days. We have had rosters of around 32 to 35 last few years. Our school of boys and girls probably has roughly around 370 or so available students in the pool to participate in athletics, we all know that of that 370, you're lucky to 25% of that number to be doing something ECA. What is best for our student athletes across the board is to re-examine (which the Athletic council met and talked at length ) our membership in the Hoosier. One of the BIGGEST reasons is the CENTRAL TIME ZONE, there are times where LCC baseball team is literally taking batting practice at our field while our kids are still in class (we get out at 3:15 central time) as one example. So many times, our athletes/coaches have to get out of class early to get going on trips. It's truly an issue. I am sure our Eastern time zone fans in football LOATHE 8 pm starts. There has not been any invite to any existing conference and I would not expect (no knowledge first hand) decision makers to pull out in the disappointing ways other schools in the past have, but I do know for sure, there is zero invitations to any other conferences that led to this decision, which is not official until our school board votes on it just for the record, I believe all we did was inform the conference of our intentions, one would think the School Board would not bat an eye on this as well. Twin Lakes is upper 3a enrollment, why would they leave Hoosier? No chance West Lafayette, why would they leave because we left?

CP is a strong potential opponent this year, and as it has been stated on this site have many unknowns surrounding their progress. This make them even more dangerous. Despite last year’s 28-point loss, they’ve shown significant improvement (but clearly isn’t known here) which means they shouldn’t be underestimated. Facing a team like CP not only challenges strengths but also prepares for high-pressure situations. With CP hunger for redemption and the unpredictability of their growth, CP poses a serious threat, and ignoring them could be a costly mistake.

Improved your post for you. So now you're comparing a public school's enrollment to that of a private school? Interesting to say the least. And New Pal is tiny compared to 6A schools. I'm not just not seeing it. I'll concede when New Pal wins the state championship by 35+.

No one said your precious Indy teams didn't improve. My point...........s**t for brains.............is that the North champion improved from last year (potentially). Probably. I'm not ready to dub Lawrence North as good as Ben Davis last year.

OK, I have no problem admitting when I was wrong. It’s still early, of course, but I’m now a Caleb Williams believer. He’s somehow managed to overcome the fact that he’s from USC, to his credit. He has 2 things that are rare in a rookie, and indispensable for a franchise QB: He can read defenses, including pre-snap reads. On several drives it looked like they were running “check with me” almost every play. And he seems to know very quickly where to go with the ball. He is really accurate. And not just with fastballs, either. Accuracy means more than hitting a target in the pros. You have to be accurate not only with “where” you’re throwing the ball, but also with “when” you’re throwing the ball. And he seems able to fit the ball into tight windows just before they close. Also, Ryan Poles is finally feeling better about the D’Andre Swift signing. He was very good today. If he continues to play this way, look for Caleb Williams to develop more in the play action game.

Aside from blowing out Pike in the sectional championship, Crown Point was BD’s easiest playoff game last year. Beat Brownsburg, Cathedral, and Center Grove all by 3 points each and believe had to come back to win in all 3 of them. I’m not sure Crown Point would have won a 6A south sectional last year.

Have New Pal play a Ben Davis schedule and I can guarantee you they wouldn’t be 8-0, probably somewhere around 4-4. I root for the underdog and I am one of the few posters that don’t have that Indy bias in everything I say, but be real now. Ben Davis who is 3-5 right now would be an easy double digit favorite against New Pal and they aren’t even in the top 25 of Temps rankings.

I wouldn’t explain it exactly that way, but it’s close enough. A scrimmage kick, untouched by the receivers beyond the neutral zone, and recovered by the kickers behind the neutral zone, can be advanced by the kickers.
