How come everyone in the media continues to focus on what Georgia did wrong rather than what Notre Dame did right? SEC football is being normalized by the transfer portal, they might as well get used to it sooner than later. Now all schools have the ability to pay their players.2 points

Looks like former IU QB Tayven Jackson has landed in the Big 12. Hope it’s a great fit.2 points

For sure. Jack knew that the opportunity cost of losing Freeman's potential to LSU, then likely some other program, would vastly exceed the cost of Freeman potentially flaming out as a first time head coach because, if nothing else, the recruiting was expected to improve. There was a lot of overreaction from the fanbase to some of the losses through the first two years. Objectively, Notre Dame's offense was easy to defend, and Freeman had a lot to learn. I hated the loss to NIU, but the more concerning thing for me––what had me wondering if it was going to work out––was Freeman was clearly trying to figure out who to act like instead of just being himself. He made a lot of strange comments in pregame and postgame interviews, and I think the pressure of the job was getting to him. In a funny way, that loss to NIU might have given him the freedom to be himself since his back was all the way up against the wall.2 points

Good win for Mr. Kiser, but I see some androgenetic alopecia going on. And so young.2 points

I was a supporter of the decision to make him head coach, knowing there would have to be growing pains along the way, but I found myself wondering if he would actually make it after the NIU loss and some public comments early in the season. Into year three, Freeman always seemed like he was trying to fit into the idea of what being the head coach at Notre Dame is. He seemed to be acting out what he thought the head coach at Notre Dame should be like. In the aftermath of losing to NIU, he seemed to become more certain in himself and what the program needed, and I think that's when he figured out who he would be as the head coach at Notre Dame––he's making the role fit him.2 points

Again, Coach Freeman had a tough learning curve, but one thing he's done, and it's big, is bring back team spirit to Notre Dame football. It's been gone for a long time and now it's back. Can't wait 'til Thursday night!1 point

Thank you for additional information. I forgot about JDR. Also FTA, I forgot about Mike Tice in Minnesota.1 point

Even before that when Jack Del Rio was the head coach in Jacksonville, he started wearing suits. The league initially said it was not approved sideline gear. They had a contract with Reebok then, so Reebok actually starting making shirts and ties for him to meet the NFL guidelines. It was a pretty impressive look too. So while the league has a say so, whoever has the contract for sideline apparel could help.1 point

Our youngest daughter (IU Alum) told me about Rourke's journey this morning. That is incredible. I believe its his right knee....which I assume he has to brace from to make his throws. Bum knee and a tore up thumb.....Warrior is right and hopefully, NFL staffs will recognize this....1 point

I can believe this. Coaches on the sideline are just walking billboards for the NFL "drip" (stupid slang term btw). But something like this would still work: Simple classic perfection for an NFL head coach.1 point

Being reported that Kurtis Rourke played the entire season on a torn ACL. Add in fact that he only missed a game and a half after having a broken thumb surgically repaired and it makes his performance all that more special. What a warrior.1 point

He’s working as a male model now. Beats the heck out of trying to keep a 300 lb. guy from tearing your face off.1 point

Did anyone notice that Georgia lost to Notre Dame by more points than IU did? Hmmm. 😄1 point

Found some good ones in the ND thread. Unfortunately, couldn't find any good ones from you @temptation. Here's a few though: @Footballking16 on Notre Dame replacing Kelly with Freeman. I wonder which coach he'd go into battle with now. “Had the same concerns with Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame after trying to replace a top college football coach.” Sept 8, 2024 @Komets2727 C'mon man! This coaching staff is looking no less than brilliant. “For you domers out there, your head coaches recently couldn’t coach PeeWee football. Overmatched doesn’t begin to describe it. Lose at home to Marshall, Check. Lose at home to Stanford, Check. Lose at home to Northern Illinois, Check. There are just no words for the ineptitude in South Bend.” September 10, 2024 @Bobref How bout now? “Marcus Freeman is on thin ice with me.” Septemer 14, 20241 point

Guessing he feels so honored to make your list. Lanning and Cignetti are simply crushed that they didn’t make it… BTW, Coach Freeman is a huge Bobref fan…1 point

Anyone with a brain cell knew two weeks ago that IU's two losses came to two of the top five teams in the country. Quite frankly, it might be the BEST two teams in the country. I'm not right about a lot of things, but I was right about the FACT that IU's admission to the playoffs was justified. The Hoosiers manhandled everyone not named ND and OSU, although Michigan hung in there with them.1 point

Why would you care what a “racist” “lefty” has to say? Figure it out yourself.1 point

Thoughts: 1. The SEC screwed themselves in this playoff setup their commissioner helped create. 2. F' the SEC 🙂 3. None of the teams with a bye won. 4. F' the SEC 🙂 5. The Irish and Ohio State played to win. Aggressive play calling and stealing possessions. 6. F' the SEC 🙂 7. ND penalties were all bad mistakes that should not happen. 8. F' the SEC 🙂 9. Picking ND and Ohio State next week. 10. F' the SEC 🙂 PS....oh yeah, IU belonged in the playoff. 🙂1 point
