Using Sagarin's ratings from 1999 through 2024, I've calculated a Top 100 list and Top 25 lists for each class. But how do you compare between years? The calculations are made assuming that the average team in any given year is equivalent. With that defined, we then look at how much better a team in a given year is than the average predictor rating for that year. I'm curious to hear your feedback. The ratings do not account for any kind of overall "improvement" (Is the average team in 2024 better than the average team in 1999) so earlier years receive no kind of handicap which I may consider introducing... Based on what I've seen, this is very minimal, but it's difficult to quantify. Also, I've updated The Predictor Tool, so you can predict any potential matchup from 1999 to 2024. It's been the date of the new rules the entire time. If an incoming SR doesn't want to sit out 5 weeks, they need to get approved to transfer before that date!

Lewis Cass would have liked another crack at that Jimtown team as well. Game was back and forth for the most of the first half. Cass picked Jimtown off in the end zone early in the game. Instead of taking a knee in the end zone, kid thinks he's going 100 yards for a pick 6. Didn't make it 5 yards out of the end zone before he was stripped from behind and Jimtown recovered with a fresh set of downs inside the 10. Flipped the game completely, and Cass never recovered. That Cass team had some studs too. Garrett Seagraves was a Prime Time 26 player in the state. I believe he was only a junior at the time. Cass head football coach Clay Mannering was a senior on that semistate team.

People don't realize that James was not only an amazing quarterback and defensive back, but he also was ranked like fifth in 5A in punting.

I thought we were just talking about MS-13 and other criminals? But if it’s 20 million, then it’s 20 million. There are no constitutional trade-offs for expediency. This issue took many years to create. It’s going to take many years to solve. It takes as long as it takes to do it the right way.

Track and field is sorta weird when it comes to records…as there are “state meet records” which MUST be achieved at the state finals, and all-time “state records” which are unofficial but can be set at anytime. Mike Slabaugh is a professor from the Fort Wayne area and a track and field nut/guru. He keeps tabs on the sports better than anyone at the local (Indiana) level. His work can be seen here: https://users.pfw.edu/slaubau/alltimeindex.htm In the 15 standard boys events, 10 records have been set since the turn of the century while, 11 have for the girls (girls pole vault is still in its relative infancy.)

Agreed. Or move Warren into LC/LN/WC. That was strange to me. Kind of lazy on IHSAA in my opinion. Also, 5A with 33 schools..?? I was under the impression they would drop the lowest 5A into 4A. Especially since there are 2 sectionals with only 7 schools in 4A now.

Should have slid Tech into the LN/LC/NC Sectional and put DC in with Southport/Perry/Warren. How about two Sectionals now also for Hamilton and Boone Counties? Times they are a changin'.

August 4, 2025 would be the first official Start of Practice Date. Not sure where June 1st is coming in?
