Ive seen bigger crowds at a state finals game.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but there are a couple things that are confusing, with this coming season being my 27th season coaching. As far as the Saturday scrimmages, the rules have never changed. Once the official practice date arrives, there are no scrimmages or practices allowed between different teams. That dates back to the jamboree era, even when I played. Also, there was never a 9th game added. When we went to the all in format, back in 1985, , the 10th game was dropped From the schedule so the season could still end on Thanksgiving weekend. Dropping to 9 games allowed for the extra round needed in the playoffs. That was the same year that the 5th class was added.

I interviewed at TC yesterday for their head coaching job (which will not be going to me incase you were wondering) and their AD said TC and HH not playing was never discussed and he doesn't see them ever not being on the schedule.

Some athletic programs might need that gate and concessions especially if they reduce number that can attend games and what can be sold at concessions. I would guess most schools depend on football and Basketball to fund other sports and extra curriculars. Schools probably saved some money with the cancelation of Spring sports but still reduced gate in football would have to hit some athletic departments hard. I would guess a Heritage Hills Jasper scrimmage would likely be the largest crowd for a scrimmage ever at HH because the 2 big rivals wont play in the regular season for the 1st time since 2000.

Trump typically has several thousand supporters standing outside watching on huge screens who were unable to enter due to overcapacity. Joe Biden couldn't fill a typical high school gymnasium. He damn sure couldn't speak for over an hour without every word of his speech displayed on a teleprompter. The enthusiasm factor for Trump is well over twice as high as for Biden. Democrats can keep believing their fake news and fake polls, however the results of this election will be similar to 2016.

All of these, so called, reopening to normalcies, are just a gamble that every state's health department may be able to stay on top of the citizen's healthy do diligence and everyone continues to exercise safe social distancing, and the use of face masks. I guess it is fine to handicap your own decision making for the finishes in 5A football.
