  1. 28 of those points came from Anderson and North Side games, which were blow outs. So I'm thinking those points were against the 2nd/3rd teamers. They gave up 18 to Mishawaka in a very tight game, got burned deep a few times. Semi state and state game they gave up a total of 6 points, shutting out the Merrillville "paper tigers".

  2. In 40 seasons of officiating high school football in the northern part of the state, I had the pleasure of officiating Penn games many times. Coach Yeoman had many notable achievements on the field. But what stood out in my mind, what separated him from many other very successful coaches, was his class and sportsmanship. It didn’t matter what the scoreboard said, he was the same. Penn is so fortunate to have had him in a position to positively influence so many. A great coach … and a better man.

  4. It’s not a playoff. It’s a tournament. The IHSAA stresses that distinction. But they also stress that it’s for the kids and then charge $10 for a regional game so….

  5. Ok Calpreps, Massey, create your own formula.... Literally every other state has some kind of rating or qualification system that seeds the postseason or counts for inclusion. That's the next step. Once you appropriately seed the sectionals, the need for what is now considered the first round becomes redundant. There will be running clocks in 75-80% of games if and when they seed appropriately. We're getting there....slowly but surely.

  6. I’ve said this before, if you’re going to do seeding, just get rid of the all-in then as well and go to a qualifier.

  7. Hopefully Taylor Swift won’t be a fan of any team that may be flagged.

  8. There are promising coaches that have 3A, 4A and 5A offenses producing at college levels. I think there is a coach in the Indy area that would love take on this opportunity. Heck could there be a really promising assistant coach at one of our colleges that would even be interested in cutting his head coaching teeth. Penn just has to be smart in their approach and consideration of these candidates. Just going with the ho-hum same old is not going to satisfy the boosters.

  9. Right, we aren't arguing that... With a new person at the helm and a booster program that wants wholesale change an Exit of the NIC may be imminent. If Penn jumps to the DAC or goes Independent in football that will be the change the fans, boosters and players need to potentially be competitive in the grand scheme of 6A football. Penn in the 90's was one of the dominant programs in 5A football, playing that B or C level schedule. the NIC then was no better than it is now. The only benefit of the schedule those teams had was playing Ben Davis almost yearly. The other benefit they had was Geesman.

  10. I agree with the prior two posts. Go external, but I know nothing about the talent that's already on staff. Penn is a blueblood and arguably the most successful program in the State of Indiana. There are good coaches out there with championship backgrounds who would take this position. Congrats to Yoeman on a tremendous run. Wins are great, and he had plenty of them. But it sounds like he was successful in defeat as well. Penn has been blessed for decades.

  11. We recently had our (Softball) winter clinic and HOF inductions along with Baseball in Indy. This was a hot topic in several discussions…….you’ll forgive me if I take a wait and see attitude…… As @Coach_K pointed out it’s a long process just to get to the point of making the proposal to the committee. And I know this will come as a shock to some of you, but politics and egos come into play as well. And when it comes to a dick measuring contest, the dude who makes the rules usually wins. Z

  12. Carroll's AD has a solid brass set. The non conference games he has this year is top notch. Plus the natural rivalries of Snider and Homestead and other Ft. Wayne schools. This team will be a tough out no matter who plays them.

  13. Really glad for Mongo, though bittersweet. Also glad for Hester, who clearly deserved it if any special teamer was ever going to get in.

  14. I love it when one of our schools decides it wants to wear big boy pants all the time. St. Frances is going to be interesting. They were “only” 5-6 last season. But their schedule included heavyweights like Buford (GA), Chaminade (FL), Mater Dei (CA), East St. Louis, (IL), St. John Bosco (CA), IMG (FL). A little road trip to Indianapolis is nothing for those guys.

  16. That will be fought tooth and nail to prevent it. All 3 districts would have factions that would not support it. The services would not be better in certain areas. There is a reason why Adams Central is gaining enrollment and North Adams (Bellmont) is declining. There are many factions that do not get along in the three communities outside sports & extra curricula. Just add that variable in as well. Why would we want to become Jay County and the issues they have?
