South- because that is where Roncalli and Brebeuf are located. Plus 4A is skewed heavily north. Marion and Muncie Central have spent time in the ‘South’ sectionals over the last few cycles. I think Western (near Kokomo) might have also been south but I can’t remember.

Thanks for finding that. Although that article focused a lot on the ‘fixed class’ set up for basketball, I can see why I missed it. I heard a lot about that proposal and subsequent vote-down and very little about the SF point change.

My guess is Sectional 24 will stay at the 7 remaining teams. Pike Central, Southridge, and West Vigo were all close to the bottom of 3A. Within 10 or so students of dropping to 2A. So that could change things as well. I always felt like both SR/HH were a package deal for sectional alignments, so just HH might get pulled back to SW IN. But a safe assumption would be West Vigo moves up to 28 to replace Chatard should everyone else stay put.

East Central rushed for 397 yards last year vs. New Prairie. This year's team is better and more versatile, with Brotherton moving to slot, WR, and splitback to allow Maxwell to get carries. Also they have added Minges as another threat in the backfield. It's not just the RB's but its also their use of unbalanced and 8-9 man OL formations that make them so tough to matchup with. Coach Meiners has a lot of talent and he does a great job of using them in creative ways. And their defense is very solid as well. I'm curious to see how NorthWood matches up with them. Oh. That makes sense.

Have you looked at the four-loss Moeller team's schedule? (Whose RB has committed to Michigan, btw.) Loss to EC 38-28. Lost to Center Grove, your #3 team 35-34 in OT. Lost to Ben Davis 49-28. I would put East Central as #2 behind Ben Davis just based on that alone. Moeller also beat Dwenger 57-0 for comparison as well. The Trojans are pretty darn good.

Chatard vs Knox Semi-state
oldtimeqb replied to ArmyVet80's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
On this we can agree. But the question is why? ** As an aside. I don't take much educational advice from Facebook. I have observed the Venn diagram between 1) parents mad at the school system for teaching things without their knowledge and 2) parents mad that teachers send home too much homework - seems to be a perfect circle. -

Germans? Pearl Harbor? Forget it. He's on a roll. -
Chatard vs Knox Semi-state

Ugly? As my fraternity brothers would say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.’” I’m out of reactions, but this is me giving the rest of your post a standing ovation. Well, at least once I put the leg rest down on my Lazy Boy. My only question is who will be the other 5 teams to join Brebeuf, Chatard, and Roncalli in the IHSAA mandated sectional? I guess this is the thread where the p/p arguments came to reside. At least it’s better than arguing over the Knox High Commanders nickname. -
CYO Football Championship Weekend
oldtimeqb replied to Cyoguru's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Thank you @Cyoguru. I was joking, but also genuinely curious about the 3-4 league. I assume a smaller field? 4 linemen and three backs? Or is it 7v7 like a summer passing tournament? Given the Chatard and Roncalli pedigrees I wouldn’t think that would be the case. -
A seeded tournament might well have produced a similar result. By my count, GS has beaten 2 non-conference teams with winning records and HH has beaten 3. I have no problem with both teams winning their way to the state semifinals. And 3A south has been a study in shifting demographics. Sullivan, Crawford County, Brownstown Central have all dropped to 2A. Owen Valley, South Dearborn, and Madison have all dropped from 4A to 3A. Southridge now seems to be solidly 3A by enrollment after getting the SF bump.

CYO Football Championship Weekend
oldtimeqb replied to Cyoguru's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Wait wait. How can a 3/4th grade team properly execute a double hand-off reverse flea-flicker with only 7 players? Blasphemy. At least please tell me every team has a coach's kid playing QB? That is how youth football should be played. What is the difference between AA and AAA? Is it team size (# of players) or school size? Maybe something else? -
1817 Indiana Map clearly had football in mind

I dare you to walk into Jasper and tell them they are really just Pikers. -
So on the free kick following a fair catch - the "unusual rule" as referenced in this article: https://highschool.si.com/california/2023/10/27/chaparral-beats-roosevelt-with-unusual-free-kick-earns-playoff-berth Ball can be spotted anywhere for the kicker? Thanks.

IHSAA State Finals now livestream only

Forget Google, Microsoft, or Apple. If the US DOJ wants to go after a monopoly, HUDL should be their first target. I'm being somewhat facetious - but I'm not entirely untrue. -
Sectional 24 Thread
oldtimeqb replied to TigerFan20's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Time: 7 pm local time or as determined by host school. Non-EVSC schools are hosting the sectional finals. I think it's pretty clear to see who was in favor of 6:30 start times and who wasn't back when the original vote by AD's was taken.
