Good Lord, you'd think these coaches could put together a good team with the resources that they have. I know you don't like Dabo, but you have to respect the commitment he gives to the kids who were committed to the program from Day 1.

Not really putting this one on the coaching staff nor wanting to air any dirty laundry publicly but there is a backstory to this one if you wanna PM and form your own opinion of the situation.

Last I checked, you don't get PM's.

All of these teams are similar in my opinion with subtle differences. I’ll take your questions one at a time.

I am not sure I would define East Centsl as being in “reload mode” after losing Ringer as they will undoubtedly take a step back.  Now keep in mind when I say that phrase they were pretty much a unanimous top five team in the state regardless of class last year.  I think they have the goods to win 5A but will definitely be pushed unlike how they were in 4A.

I NEVER worry about Chatard’s graduation losses and they are the definition of a team that RELOADS.  I think they are the clear cut favorite in 3A again, could win 4A, compete to win 5A and hang with most 6A teams.

Decatur Central is interesting to me as they are a bit of both of what I described above.  I expected them to take a step back after the plethora of Tracy’s finally graduated but they just won’t go away.  They have a play maker at QB and have the perfect geography, SES and enrollment to be a 5A player annually.

If anything, I think Carmel is the head scratcher of this group.  I’ve been on record in multiple threads on here saying this is a make or break year for the Greyhounds coaching staff.  To lose to Ben Davis and Center Grove is one thing, but now they are in danger of becoming afterthought in their own county.  They will be better than their record indicates and the have been the last couple of years due to their brutal schedule, but it’s put up or shut up time for them in my opinion.

Sorry misread.

Probably unfair to their current crop of student athletes, but how ironic would it be if this edition of Brownsburg was the one that actually broke through?

Makes me think of that 1998 Tennessee team that won it all the year after Peyton Manning graduated.

Bill Simmons (Used to write for ESPN as the Sports Guy), referred to this phenomenon as the "Ewing Theory"....

Anyone got a stick of dynamite I can borrow? There is one particular lake in Northern Indiana where only ONE boat drives around donning their university flag and loudly plays their university fight song.

Widely regarded as THE greatest fight song of all time…

I think this is the most logical based on how the season ended last year.

The only outlier is Carroll, but their recent history against Indy schools and current program stability warrants a top 10 inclusion.

Until we get games this year, to me it makes sense.

Might as well let the cat out of the bag…

Not sure if this changes anyone’s mind, or is common knowledge yet but Westfield’s starting RB from last year (1199 yards) is now at Warren Central…

Doesn’t change my mind one bit. Again, of all the top 10 teams who, by far, was the worst team last year? Warren, yet they are annoited to the top 3…

Warren also has a transfer QB but I’m not sold on him.  That being said, QB play was a major anchor for them last year so I think it can only improve.

It will be interesting to see how he does against the Snider D that is supposed to be decent.

I was the first to admit last year that the Snider/Warren game shocked me in its immediate aftermath…when in reality it was just foreshadowing for both teams’ seasons.

Wondering if I should take the same approach this year.  Seems like the consensus is that both teams will rely heavily on their defenses early while their offenses figure things out.

I don't see either offense putting up big numbers like Snider did last year. I think this game comes down to special teams and turnovers. It could be that kickoff return for a touchdown that decides it.

Later in the year with more game experience, I would agree with you, but first game of the year, I think one team jumps out and wins by double digits

Yes, though these games are great for the fan, I think you would learn more about each team if game was played later in the season. The first game or two of the season can be a bit rocky and not a great indicator of how well a team will do, in most cases.

I'd like to hear a coach's perspective on this. With the amount of scrimmages and 7 on 7's teams tend to play in the summer now adays, I would imagine they are more prepared in Week 1 than we are giving them credit for?

I just think that a team will play better as a team after they have played numerous games together, under game conditions.

Or we could flip the script and ask how the Snider O will go against WC's D.  Looks like they have the #1, #6, and #18 ranked recruits in the state according to 247...all on D.  Offers to the SEC, Big 10 and ACC.

Technically I believe the kid ranked #18 plays OL but you also forgot the #1 ranked player in the 2026 class.

Also, doesn't WC have a 3-star Safety transfer from Cathedral
