HAHAHA

Great work ladies.

One week to go in the regular season but with the draw being last night, figured it'd be as good a time as any to generate some discussion around the 6A tournament.

About "as balanced" as its been in a while with Carmel in the north but one thing that stuck out to me is that amazingly every 6A bracket draw with the exception of Sectional 7 (which I maintain Warren's JV could win) pits the top two teams on opposite sides of the bracket, thus ensuring the best two teams meet for the sectional title if chalk holds.

Its hard to not see a collision course between Carmel and Brownsburg, though I do give Westfield, Center Grove and Lawrence North a puncher's chance.

Are teams like Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Decatur Central or Avon capabale of pulling an upset or two?

Temp's Title Odds:

Carmel - 30%

Brownsburg - 25%

Center Grove - 15%

Westfield - 15%

Lawrence North - 10%

The Field - 5%

Whatcha think?

Westfield stats - 26.4 points per game on offense, 12.2 points per game on defense. Throw out the Carmel game, and its 28.5 offensive points per game, and 9.5 defense points per game. Watching them and looking at these stats, its not surprising that they have a very good defense. They held the "Burg to 14 points. BB averaged 36 points per game. 29 was their next lowest game, against Cathedral. I'd sure love to get another shot at Brownsburg, having lost the two games last year and the one this year by a total of 13 points. Carmel stands in the way.

Interesting coming from the guy whose favorite team doesn’t have a home field.

Well to be fair they had a homefield "Arlington Middle School which use to be Arlington High School" until @Lysander snipped some wires to the lights during the Chatard game 😂🤣

Actually the IHSAA likely wouldn't let them use Arlington going by past IHSAA decisions not letting Chatard use the field of champions at Broad Ripple. Not even with the promise of walking the fields to pick up broken glass j/k.

I still don't completely understand why they haven't put in plans to build a field at Brunette Park where their Baseball and softball and soon to be soccer and Lacrosse teams will play. It could be in the future I have no idea to be honest.

It has to get pricey to rent Butler or UIndy all the time.

Realistically or in my dreams?

Realistically, Take into account the records plus who they have played.  Like Penn is not the 3 seed even though record says they would be.

split north south obviously.

Exactly how @Indiana Fan did in the other post.

Let the better seed host the first two rounds and then move the last three rounds to neutral sites.

Back when Ben Davis and Warren Central were dominating the sport I advocated for an East/West split but even now that would not do much good because there are so many schools right on the line of 31/65.

@temptation how would you seed this years tournament if you had the power?

@23andCounting how would you seed this years tournament if you had the power?

Sagarin would be my #2 option. My #1 would be a seven person committee with representatives from NE, NW, EC, WC, Indy Area would be Central, SE, and SW. And the committee would be comprised of members of this forum. I don't trust the media. Nor would I trust a current coach or an athletic director. I think we could find seven guys here who could give an objective opinion. I think the reps would come from Fort Wayne, South Bend, Lafayette, Indy, Muncie, Evansville, and someone from either Columbus or Madison to represent the SE.

If you're asking me how I would seed it myself, that would take a bit of time. I could get back to you later tonight probably.

This is straight from Sagarin ratings. Which I have expressed in the past that I am a firm believe of sagarin. In my opinion, there are only a couple of flaws with how the seeds would come out in this case, but it’s pretty darn close most years.

I noticed that too, so back to my option #2. Going with a committee, you might find Crown Point and Lawrence North with better seeding. Other than that, it looks pretty accurate.

Well everything > 2a

There would never be another upset

Where would you have Merrillville seeded?

You think LN should be a higher seed in the South? Sagarin has them at #3 seed

How I would do this, it takes into account record but also who you have played and tries to balance them.

North -

1. Carmel - 16. Portage

2. CP - 15. Harrison (WL)

3. Westfield - 14. LC

4. Fishers - 13. Noblesville

5. Penn - 12. Snider

6. HSE - 11. Zionsville

7. Carroll - 10. Elkhart

8. Homestead - 9. Northrop

South -  (this was harder for me, being from the North)

1. Brownsburg - 16. Southport

2. CG - 15. N. Central

3. Lawrence North - 14. Jeffersonville

4. Decatur Central - 13. Arsenal Tech

5. Warren - 12. Perry Meridian

6. Lawrence Central - 11. Pike

7. Avon - 10. Ben Davis

8. Franklin Central - 9. Columbus North

So many teams around .500 in the south it is hard to point to where they should be ranked. Clearly with Sagarin it takes some of the subjectiveness away.

Sorry I should have said that, Since Temp mentioned that is how you did it, I just wanted to post it if anyone missed that thread.

No, I forgot that CG beat LN head to head in a close game. I've gotta give the Trojans that #2 seed.

I don't think you can balance the teams' results against their schedules and still wind up with CP ahead of Westfield. Ahead of Fishers? There's an argument to be made there––I suppose––but this CP team is getting a lot of credit for things that were achieved by guys who aren't wearing red and white anymore.

Do we not still reward winning? CP's 9-0 is better than Penn's, but Fishers and Westfield's records are better than Penn's 9-0 as well. This is the SEC conversation over and over and over again. These teams are so good they should be rewarded no matter what. 3 and 4 seeds vs the 2 and 3 seed is picking nits. It is not like I put them 5-9.

I think where Crown Point is seeded at 4 is pretty accurate.

You have to look at it this way:

1 Seed Carmel - Would you say Crown Point is better than Carmel? I wouldn't. Would you say CP would be 8-1 playing Carmel schedule? I wouldn't I could see them at 4-5 or 5-4.

2 Seed Westfield - Would you say CP could do better than a 34-10 loss to Carmel or a 14-10 loss to Brownsburg? I wouldn't. Would you say CP would be 7-2 with Westfield' schedule? I wouldn't I could see them at worse 3-6 best 5-4.

3 seed Fishers - Would you say CP could do better than a 49-24 loss to Carmel, 42-14 loss to Brownsburg, or 14-7 loss to Westfield? I wouldn't. Would you say they would go 6-3 with Fishers schedule? I wouldn't I could see them 3-6 or 4-5.

So I think 4 seed is pretty accurate for Crown Pont if there were to be seeding.

I think Crown Point might do better than a 24 point margin against Carmel. Westfield's loss against Brownsburg is pretty impressive (guys from Indy call it a moral victory if the team is from the north) though. I won't play that game, I'll just call it what it is, an "impressive" loss. That being said, with strength of schedule, I'll give you Westfield at #2. Not budging after that though. Gimmie CP over Fishers.
