Is there any thing especially different about them this year?

They are significantly better on both sides of the ball.

It was just Rushville, but they scored 50 points in the 1st qtr and only had 6 offensive snaps.

Is there any thing especially different about them this year?  My perception is L-burg is always a strong program and expect to see them coming out the far east.  They have been able to break through a couple of times to get to State, but I think mainly their strong teams usually take their East Central beating each year and then make a undefeated run after that as far as there match up with the southwest area regional opponent.
What's there for extra love this year?
I will say my elementary school age son that goes down the interweb rabbit holes of maxpreps, etc.. sports research, specifically asked me about L-burg and has no desire to face them this year.

More of the same... Took a lick against EC and then haven't scored less than 40 or given up more than 14 since. Deep on both sides of the ball per usual.

First round of Sectionals is Friday and the North has a few teams that could surprise people.  Twin Lakes and Angola could be the surprise first round winners.  Luers, Angola, Western, Oak Hill, and Twin Lakes can't be overlooked by anybody in their sectional.  Mississinewa and Knox have been the two highest ranked teams in the North all year but neither have an easy road to win their respective sectional.  Mississinewa has a very tough game against Oak Hill to open up with and won 20-0 in week 3 of the regular season.  This same Oak Hill team held Eastbrook to 21 in the last regular season game.  Knox will probably play Griffith in the second round which won't be an easy game.

Every team is 0-0 going into this week as it is a new season.  Good Luck to all and it will be a fun tournament to watch.

Would Heritage Hills have been in that sectional were the they still in 3A?

Luers, honestly, would have been better had their best defensive player(s) not left.  😞 It is what it is.

A youth movement going on at Luers.  100% effort though.

Luers is the best 5-5 team in the State and can't be overlooked.  It is very likely that the sectional final will be between Mississinewa and Luers at Mississinewa.  They scrimmaged each other this summer and matched up well.  Luers started off the season rough but after loosing a number of players and some top college recruits, they have come together and improved a lot.  Yes, last year Luers took it to Mississinewa in the first 3 quarters, but Mississinewa did make a comeback and was within a score of winning when time expired.  Both teams lost some key players from last years teams, but both are still very, very good.  Neither team can look past this week's matchups with Luers playing Norwell and Mississinewa playing Jay County.  Norwell may have only 2 wins on the season, but they did manage to win against Heritage team last week.  Jay County also beat Heritage to end the regular season.  Both games this week in Sectional 28 will be good ones.

Now if all teams can stay healthy and avoid injuries this week so all teams are at full strength for the sectional championships it would be amazing.

The Sectional Championship games look to be very interesting.  There are both expected games and surprise games.  It was expected that Mississinewa and Luers would play for the title.  Does Mississinewa have what it takes to beat Luers?  Remember last year Luers took off the first half and built up a sizeable lead to the point it was almost a running clock and then Mississinewa came back in the 2nd half and closed the gap to where the loss by 1 score and was going for the scoring drive when time expired.  Those Seniors are gone as well as the high scoring offense.  Luers not had players graduate but many transferred out.  Luers plays the tougher schedule and is the best 6-5 team in the State.  This should be a State Finals atmosphere at Mississinewa this week and the new Jumbo Tron will get a work out.  If you haven't seen the Jumbo Tron, you are missing out as it may be the biggest high school scoreboard in the State.

Twin Lakes and Western will be a good game.  Twin Lakes has a legendary coach while Western has an upcoming legendary coach who's dad was a legend.  Western has turned around the program in a year while Twin Lakes has built a program in 3 years.  This one will be a good one to watch.  The winner gets to play the winner of the Mississinewa/Luers game.

Knox and Mishawaka Marian could be another blowout by Knox.  The question is does Marian have a defense that can slow down Myles?  The real question is does anybody in 3A have a defense that can keep Myles contained?

Garrett and Angola played earlier this year with Angola winning by 3.  This is an evenly matched game and with Angola having a very experienced coach and Garrett having a young coach.  This one is a draw as to who pulls out the W.

At this point in the season what are the injuries like for all teams?

I can’t speak to Mississinewa but, by all appearances, Sectional and Regional look like speed bumps for Gibson Southern….admittedly, Semi State could be interesting for them.  As in most years, I’m definitely favoring the South to win it all.

I might be wrong here, but I believe the sectional 32 champs have represented the South 6 out of the last 8 years.

Mississinewa fumbled a snap on the goal line and Luers returned the recovery for 100 yard TD.  Both teams thought the play was dead even the officials looked at each other.  Either way, the whistle was never blown so the ball was live.  Mississinewa fumbled again on a drive and game over.  Never seen so many unsportsmanlike and facemasks called in a game.  The penalties against Luers helped Mississinewa but Mississinewa couldn't take advantage of it.  Even had a "penalty" called and then waived off because the flag fell out of the officials pocket.  Was a good game.  Take away the 2 fumbles and Mississinewa won.  Turnovers and Penalties cost wins and Luers tried to give the game away with the penalties.  Good Luck to Luers as they advance in the tournament.  Question is if they make it to State again this year, do they move up to 4A next year with the success factor?

Marian (adj.) - of, or related to Mary.

I would have to double-check, but I think she's pretty important, right?

How important depends on if there are benches between your pews.
