IFCA poll:

5A:

11. Castle

4A:

11. Jasper

2A:

1. Mater Dei

Just checking out 5A, I think we have a good chance of seeing Castle vs Merrillville at Lucas Oil this year.

Hoping Goebel can finally get his ring this hear.

At 4A I don't see anyone competing with New Pal and Roncalli. They are just so dominate across the front.

I'd probably go:

VL

North

Harrison

Jasper

Bosse

Memorial

Central

You could argue between VL and North

I mean at this very moment in the season I think you're close. Don't know if I'd have VL jump clear to 4..more like 5-6. Memorial is 0-2 so probably 8 is where I'd stick them. And you can't really put Jasper ahead of Harrison either at this point in time...so seems like a fair ranking.

The "Infamous" Week 2 power rankings

1. Mater Dei

2. Castle

3. Reitz

4. North

5. Jasper

6. VL

7. Memorial

8. Harrison

9. Bosse

10. Central

Let the fun conversations begin!

Top 4 are spot on...5-8 are arguable. 9 and 10 are correct

I think the 5A state title game at Lucas Oil will be Merrillville vs. Whiteland.  The size of Whiteland's linemen will give an undersized Castle team a lot of problems.

He was the coach when they won state in 2000. I believe he has 10 wrestling titles as well...

I didn't think he was the head football coach then. Yeah. I know all about his wrestling titles. I wrestled at Jasper and team wise we received some real beatings by his teams.

I had always assumed he was waiting on that football title then retire.

If you have a good program, good assistants, why would you leave?  What else are you going to do?

Look at Bud Wright at Sheridan.  He has been there 57 years as HC.

I thought that because he retired from coaching wrestling. I played for Brewer. I know some coaches stay a long time. It wasn't a knock.

Thru Week 2 stats will be posted later today:

PPG

PPG allowed

Offensive YPG (rushing and passing)

Defensive YPG (rushing and passing)

Any chance you could do individual stat leaders as well? Interested to see who some of the top players are right now. Although I know not all teams post stats. I might scrounge around the internet and see what stats I can find if I get time.

Max preps under siac standings will have stat leaders for several categories including all individual and team. SIAC HC do a good job for the most part updating weekly.

Thanks for this. Has John Purdy decided what he is doing next year?
