The SIAC Thread

With the conference being closed, the SIAC could really gather some comprehensive nine-game stats. Are stats centrally collected and/or published now ... beyond MaxPreps?

Besides MaxPreps, Stats are usually posted on Hudl, that’s how I know Jasper’s and Vincennes. However, Jasper only posts team total stats and not individuals. Everyone else is on MaxPreps, but sometimes I have to go on Hudl.

Problem is that MaxPreps used to have a standings for team totals, like Passing or Rushing season total. But it appears they removed that feature

Thanks for this. Has John Purdy decided what he is doing next year?

No idea, hopefully colleges are looking at him

No, the game does not appear on Hudl in terms of stats. The only way I can think of to see them is probably subscribing to Dubois County Herald to view what they said.

Stolzenbach is a life saver, I will post the updated version soon

All I need is Central to start posting their stats, since digitalscout only has the Bosse game for them

Who covered the Central game from the ECP?

31-28 Vincennes over MD 👀👀👀👀👀

Not a good night to have a wildcat as a mascot.

I’m not really shocked at the Reitz vs Jasper score. I always see Reitz as a team that can hand us our asses. Can they compete with New Pal and Roncolli. I look forward to finding out. They are big and athletic.

Congrats Vincennes! Number 2 team in the conference and a play away from being number 1. Look forward to y’all making some noise in the tournament.

4A outside of New Pal is wide open in the south. Just watched Roncalli escape with a W against Chatard. Should be an interesting season!

Observations:

Castle did what they expected to do and beat Bosse by a lot. Eyeing a 3-1 start is a great start for the Knights

North’s rushing attack looked pretty well tonight against Harrison. However, it did look like Harrison eventually did cut it down to 2 scores in the 4Q, but the Huskies solidified it with a late score to win the game. Can’t wait for Reitz/North, should be a great game!

Note of the week, Memorial finally found the EZ in their game against Central tonight. Rodes made a massive debut tonight too, to finally give the Tiger’s Offense tons of light for the season. And the Defense looks to be shaping up pretty nicely these last 2 games. Memorial is definitely looking into the right direction. Central’s Javon Jackson is a speedy RB for the Bears.

Time for the big games:

Reitz is back. Annihilated Jasper by 27. The Panthers are roaring over on Reitz Hill. Reitz, North, next Friday night. That’s enough said for tonight. Jasper, on the other hand, needs to get some momentum going or else it’s going to be a long season.

The Alices did one thing they couldn’t do last week, finish strong. Alices pull off the upset to beat #1 Mater Dei in a thriller. Look liked QB Xavier Hunt had about 300 total yards of offense against Mater Dei and a couple of TDs. It’s a party in Vincennes right now, as the Alices look hopeful. Mater Dei is going to be angry after this lost, and of course, the Catholic Bowl is coming up next week. Can’t miss that one.

I could ramble about VL/MD to fill a whole page on the thread....gonna try to keep it short.

Another fantastic, high quality high school football game played on both sidelines. Great players. Great coaching. Great heart. Neither team deserved to lose just like a week ago with VL/Reitz. The final 18 minutes of game time were just incredible.

MD is everything they are hyped to be in 2022 make no mistake. Wunderlich was a one man wrecking crew, whether through the air or on the ground. He's got a really good cast around him as well in the backfield and out wide. There's absolute zero reason to doubt MD chances of reaching LOS (although the Miners could have something to say).

For Lincoln, you have to start with Xander Hunt...the kid is just special. I don't how else to put it. We saw glimpses of it a year ago before injury and now he's putting on a full display. But tonight it took a total team effort to beat an opponent this good...there were dudes making plays everywhere tonight. Johnson, McCrary, Gillis, Foster, Keller, Hambrick, Steffey..and of course the big guys on the front line. Gotta keep this thing going...get back to work. Enjoy tonight though.

The 2 key drives by the Alices came at the end of each half.  VL went 70+ yds to kick a FG to go up 10 - 7 just before halftime.   Then, after MD put it in the end zone to take the lead with just over 2 mins to go in the game, VL took it 80 yds in just over a min to take the lead 31 - 28 with 56 seconds to go.  Give due praise to VL offense & Hunt.  That young man is a special player and gave MD defense fits all night.  Congrats to Alices on a well-earned W.

One thing I noticed is that your defense FLIES to the ball. No matter where it ends up their are multiple guys surrounding it. And your ends contain really well. Wunderlich kept trying to get outside to take off and your guys wouldn’t let him. They just kept stretching the play towards the sideline.

Ok. My recap of the week from afar.

Welcome to the SIAC Vincennes. That statement win you thought you had last week arrived. You proved it with the late game score to win it. Excellent performance against two of the top teams in the conference in the last two weeks. I’m still watching.

Mater Dei has no reason to hang their heads after this loss. They played it tough, and had the chance to win it. Just had plays made against them in the end. Not a bad loss, but I’m sure the red and gold faithful don’t see it that way.

Jasper is going to struggle, especially if they can not hold on to the ball. By my count (could be wrong), but four fumbles (one lost), one int, and three TODs for the game. While the turnover line may not look that bad for them after last week, it doesn’t tell the whole story.

Reitz is a load on offense, and can play some defense. After a game with so many mental mistakes (9 personal foul calls, number is from a coach), they cleaned it up on defense and the results speak for themselves. Still a couple of small mental errors to clean up, but looking scary good.

Congratulations to Memorial on scoring their first offensive touchdown of the season last night. Quarterback play is still a struggle, but when you lose a generational QB, the only direction you can go there is back. Look at Reitz after the 2010 season. Maybe the running game can help in that respect now.

What can I say about Central. They have a good running back? At least they still get to play Bosse coming up.

Castle just clobbered Bosse this week. Can we really take anything away from this game?

Bosse was a team I do believe most people expected good things from this season. At least, they would be competitive. Ok, well maybe some flash? Right now, all I can say is woof.

North is lighting it up on the back of St. Louis. I can honestly say that I don’t know much else about them except they started 2-1.

Good things are at Harrison. They scored 20 points in a game for the first time since 2016. While they haven’t been on the winning side yet, you have to score points to win, and they are getting there

Are you talking about Lindauer?  I can’t think who else would qualify.

This is our 4th season since Lindauer left.  Colton Pence started 2 seasons (and won a state championship as a junior).  And Ellspermann started last year.

Granted, neither of them are/were as good as Lindauer.  But it’s not like he was here last year and we’re struggling to fill his shoes.

Apologies on this. Hard to believe it has been that long now.  (Knew Ellspermann was the starter last year, so the struggles this year are really a head scratcher)

As a Jasper fan I wish that were true.
