As we get closer to start of the 2023 high school football season, there are some pretty good quarterbacks around the state.

I do not know them all, but am willing to put myself out there to start the list.

Feel free to add some of the best in your area - no matter what class.

Alpha by school . . .

Dash King, Bloomington South

Thomas Gotkowski, Brownsburg

Danny O'Neil, Cathedral

Tyler Cherry, Center Grove

Noah Ehrlich, Hobart

Jackson Willis, Lutheran

Braxton Birner, Maconaquah

Brady Fisher, Mishawaka

Donovan Williams, New Haven

Christian Kramer, North Putnam

Owen Roeder, NorthWood

Nolan McCullough, Penn

Owen Wanner, South Adams

Adam Kunkel, South Dearborn

Jace Stuckey, Triton Central

Izak Wright, Wabash

Apologize if I misspelled a name.

As I mentioned, I don't know them all, so feel free to add to the list!

as always, the game is better

Tanner Boyd Gibson Southern.

was 3A Jr all state last year

don’t know where on the list he should be but he should be on the list for top QBs in the state.

see no reason to think Coach Hart wouldn’t have the QB at GS prepared to perform as a top QB in the state on a yearly basis.  11 years in and he is 5/5 on all state QBs

Thanks for adding to our list, YMCA

My list was not rating the QBs, just wanted to discuss some of the best as we enter the 2023 season.

Sounds like Coach Hart has a good thing going at Gibson Southern.

Appreciate your contribution,

complete homer pick but Marshall Kmiecik of New Prairie has already put together a career that'll be talked about for along time and he still has a year left. Very underrated player as he probably is getting hardly any looks from the next level. Kid is just a gamer and someone that knows who to get the ball too and when to do it. If the game is on the line, he's one that you want on your team

24-5 as a starter

2,395 passing yards with 27 TDs (21 yard average)

2,388 rushing yards with 30 TDs (6.4 yard average)

2 sectionals, 2 regionals, 1 semi-state titles and of course the trip to indy last year

Also from the Region, agree on Noah Ehrlich @ CP, has a cpl D1 rec and a TE, with a huge Oline, Valpo's Justin Clark had a terrific 2022, but with 6 Td passes in 14 games with 6 pics and 1034 yds not quite a complete dual threat yet. Sebastian Boswell from Chesterton with 1400 yds and 12 Td's in 8 games is  formidable, but have to see what the listed 6'3" 215 lb QB can do with his legs and a full season.

Clark wasn’t the QB until second half of the MC game when the previous starter got hurt. Add in the fact Valpo will always be heavy run and his numbers look a lot better. Kid made big time throws throughout their run.

From the SIAC...Matthew Fisher of Memorial, Ben Davies of Reitz, and Xander Hunt of Vincennes are all very talented QBs

  • in 11 games - Fisher finished with 1830 yards and 15 TDs to 10 INTs - class of '25 comes in at 6'3" 180 lbs.
    • Good size and poise. Good completion rate. Throws a good ball in and out of the pocket. Tough competitor. Also a good baseball player.
  • in 9 games - Davies finished with 1561 yards and 18 TDs to 7 INTs - class of '25 comes in at 6'2" 195 lbs.
    • Injured in week 4, missed a few games, never really recovered. Put up great stats when healthy. Surgery in offseason, expected back healthy. Good size and throws a good deep ball.
  • in 10 games - Hunt finished with 1464 pass yards and 10 TDs to 7 INTs, added 908 rush yards for 13 TDs - class of '24 comes in at 5'10" 160 lbs.
    • Was named SIAC POTY. Undersized but incredible competitor. True dual threat. Decent passer but really thrives running the ball. Willed his team to wins and kept them in games where they were outmatched.

I think he is listed at 6' 175. He has nice speed but nothing that pops off the page. His measurable's aren't anything special and that is more than likely why he isn't getting much media attention. Where he excels is in everything that can't be measured or put a number on.

All nice players and crazy to think Davies might not be the best in game QB at Reitz.
