I had the East/Seymour Frosh/JV games a couple of weeks ago. East Frosh group is SOLID. Oddly enough, they tied Seymour’s Frosh 14-14. Unfortunately since that time a fair number of Seymour’s Frosh are seeing V minutes and there were probably 5-6 of them last Saturday that saw enough V minutes they didn’t even play JV. Kind of gives you a glimpse into Seymour’s program. When you’re playing frosh and sophs, it’s men v boys.

I usually don't go into discussing or posting JV and frosh scores, but with South about to enter the HHC next season, I thought I would post that the Columbus East freshmen handed South's freshman team their first loss of the season with a 42-35 shootout win. It was the Panthers' freshmen first loss of the season who are now 3-1 on the season. The Panther JV team blew out Greenfield-Central, 59-14, to go 4-0 so far on the season. These are players that will make up a sizable chunk of South's team in their first season in the HHC.

All three schools in the consolidation into GS had great mascots - Ft. Branch Twigs, Owensville Kickapoos and Haubstadt Elites. Instead of the Titans, GS should be the Elite Kickatwigs

What do they run?

Attica @ NV- Not sure how many more winnable games there are for the Ramblers. I will say they are hanging in there for their low numbers. NV has shown some good signs and they will play till the end. I'm going to take the Falcons winning this one at home. Covington @ PH- Sounds like there wasn't much defense being played last week between the Wolves and Seeger. PH gave them all they wanted but it sounds like Salts had a night. The Wolves only have one more test on the schedule and that is when they go to Mecca and play the Panthers. I think they will finish 3rd in the conference now. Covington is on the struggle bus. I'll take the Woofs with the running clock. FC @ Seeger- Is Foxworthy back this week? If so this could change my prediction a little. Sounds like Seeger got a little fight back after a tough loss to RP week 4. I think their passing game will be too much for the Mustangs but if Foxworthy is back the Mustangs could keep this one close. I think Seeger has more athletes and will pull away in the 3rd. I'll take the Pats winning this one by 3 scores. RP @ SV- I don't think the Panthers have another test on their schedule until maybe seeing Cloverdale in the sectional. SV has had some success this year but I don't think this is a week for that. I think the Panthers are going to handle the line of scrimmage like they do every week. Anyone want to take bets on which back out of the 6 they play will have a big night? I'll take the Panthers crossing the river and winning this one big.

Winamac @ North Miami is likely the only close game. I'm thinking NM loses by a score.

This point and our special teams issues were exposed at Apollo....if that all happens again Friday it could get ugly. Just get the things right that require no skill or athletic ability and it'll take you a long way.

Kick coverage could also use some attention. Not sure against Washington, but sometimes players like Toler and Winchell would be added to kickoff teams for big games.

That I totally agree with and made the same statement last week. There were many reasons for the Apollo loss (a game we should have won by 2 scores) but special teams was/is a serious problem. The wild thing about that is the fact that special teams is usually the very thing that wins us close games.
