I mean nobody knows because it didn't happen. How do you know that Homestead wouldn't have learned so much that they mercy ruled Westfield in the first 10 minutes of the game? You asked how it would help Homestead and I answered. Snider, Homestead and Carroll would all fit fine on Westfield's schedule. I am sure you don't care about anyone besides Luers in the SAC which is fine, but please do some research.

Last weekend was an eventful one... It started with weekend cancellations. A few local teams were hit by Covid/Covid quarantine protocol. Bloomfield, Clay City, and Shakamak were hit. WRV had a school tragedy that cancelled their game Friday night. This left other teams scrambling to schedule games. It seemed everyone was hit directly or indirectly. Shakamak being one of those schools left the Linton Miners without a game. The Miners went into Friday with no game for the weekend. Barr-Reeve was in the mix for Friday night, but with only a few hours notice... the Miners declined. This caused some drama among the Vikings fans since it was supposed to be their Homecoming. Sadly, this won't be the first time teams/coaches will be scrambling to schedule games. Word was the official request wasn't until afternoon on the day of the game. Regularly... this request would be ridiculous. The Miners were able to schedule a good Loogootee team for Saturday. Friday... North Central over Evansville Day 64-60- North Central gets a solid win. Hard to tell how good Evansville Day is or if either team was hit by Covid. Evansville Day looked to play Loogootee close. The Lions are a pretty good 1A team in a brutal sectional. Saturday... North Central defeats Lighthouse Christian ... A win is a win. I don't know how good Lighthouse is, but NC is currently 4-2. That is something to enjoy a few years removed from years when the T-Birds had only 13 wins over a 4 year span (including a 0-24 season). North Daviess over Gibson Southern. I don't know much about the Titans... I'm guessing the schools best basketball player is still only playing football (word was he has/had Big Ten schools scouting him). On a good note... ND is scoring 55 ppg. They are also 5-0. Eastern over Scottsburg. The T-Birds keep rolling. Scottsburg didn't have a good record, but they played Brownstown Central and Providence close. Those teams are traditionally pretty good. Eastern is 5-1... minus a loss against North Knox... Coach Hudson seems to have his team playing well. Linton defeats Loogootee 51-44- This was a really good basketball game. The Lions leading scorer Peyton Bledsoe was kept in single digits, but they are more than a one man show. They have some solid players and their big man(Bauer) was pretty good. They controlled the first quarter, but the Miners chipped away at their double digit lead for the next 2 quarters. By the 4th, the Miners were back in control. They hit a few bog shots.. Loogootee didn't. Early the Miners looked like they would fall into the same rut that has almost cost them 2 games this year. Lincoln Hale took a few ill advised shots as the Lions built up an early lead. By the 2nd quarter, Hale was making the right basketball play with some great assists to open teammates. As his teammates started to shoulder some of the scoring load, Hale had better looks. He still finished with 24 points, but his unselfish play earlier in the game helped turn the tide. Logan Webb was huge... he came off the bench and provided double digit scoring... he also made some big defensive plays. Joey Hart was a little off early with foul trouble, turnovers, and missed shots... he made a couple huge plays as the Miners took control of the game late. He also guarded Bledsoe most of the game... he may have ended with 5 or 6 points. I heard he was scoring 17-18 ppg. This was a good pick up for both teams. This week's schedule... Tuesday... Linton travels to South Vermillion... WRV at South Knox... Eastern at North Daviess. I will be interested to see the final score of the Eastern/North Daviess. Wednesday... Eastern at Shelbyville Next week... we see some teams start their holiday tournament games.

What have the PUBLIC 6A and 5A schools done since? Nada What have the PRIVATE schools in the conference done since? Multiple State Finals wins/appearances (Again, my entire argument....The SAC benefits the smaller privates much more than the public larger schools) Frankly, it IS who you play...ask the North Central Conference... same situation there, inflated expectations based upon 'sketchy' records.

South Warren Spartans. (the) Newest school built in the Warren County School System - Bowling Green, KY, less than 5 years ago. They have risen to the top of Warren County sports in rapid time. They are separate from Bowling Green schools (BGHS Purples are the city school system). I graduated from Warren Central (KY) in 83. There were 2 HS in the system at that time: Warren Central and Warren East. Built/Added Greenwood (1990s) and South Warren (2010s). South Warren has become a very good 5A team in Kentucky, and should be a great matchup for Gibson Southern. The school is the largest campus in the state of Kentucky, as an aside... and built on the land in which had purchased a home when GM moved the Corvette Plant there from Saint Louis. (Thank GOD I just tagged along and headed up north to Indiana when Dad took a promotion to the GM Truck plant here). GO TITANS!!!

SAC will be changing its schedule after reclass, with the idea being to keep teams in same class playing later in the year.

Nicely done there (Reitz/Rice)! I’m just catching up on this thread. The concept of these 2 teams actually playing literally blows my mind today in this gawdawful era of “closed” conferences. I will say that the Warren Central Classic came closer to fitting the concept behind this thread than anything else I’ve heard of so far. Why did they quite doing it? I can recall kids who had played on Friday night heading over to WC on Saturday just to watch some of those games.

Chuck Hurley was one of the finest men I ever met. Rushville and Connersville are a given in Football. I’m talking about across the board, they might fare a little better in Men’s basketball, but across the board, I think it’s about a wash.

I am fine with the "way too early predictions". But the issue with the conference as a whole, is that it is a CLOSED one as it relates to football. The 3 privates are the benefactors of this system, IMO. It gives none of the larger publics any conception of how they relate to any of the other institutions outside of the area/conference/state. So the playoffs become a crap-shoot for them. As for the privates, they always get the added bonus of then playing within the lower classification that they are assigned (playoffs); After having gone through the grind of playing larger schools. Having said all that, it will always be the same thing: Wash, Rinse, Repeat....year after year with the SAC!

Carson has never gotten too cool to hang out with the younger players. He has been a big influence on some kids who were being bullied and others who teachers were struggling to reach. He frequented the fields for practices and games. I think he knew he was a rockstar to those kids but he never let it go to his head. He's just a big tender-hearted kid...off the field.

Read the article last night. LOVE it. What a great kid. The coach is great. Sounds like the community is great too. I had a HUGE take away..... The section where a teacher would contact Coach Moore if their student was having a tough go. Coach Moore would then contact Carson (in this case) and he would reach out to the youngster. As adults, we tend to forget just how BIG of an impact these young men have on the youth. I know there was A LOT of great information in this article, but as a teacher and former coach, this made my day. Well done Carson and family. Well done Coach Moore. Well done CG community.

Toughest schedule in the state? Yep. Toughest schedule in the Midwest? Probably. Toughest schedule (for a real school) in the county? Possibly.

I have discussed this for many years after seeing it work in Kentucky, although they aren't without their flaws. 1. Abolish conferences. 2. Utilize "sectionals" as districts. 3. Play 10 game regular season schedule, with 7 of those games being opponents from your district. This gives coaches/ADs 3 games to schedule at their leisure. If they're building a program, they can schedule easier. If they want stiff competition, they can schedule up a class or two. The open weeks will be weeks 1-3, so everyone has the same open dates. 5A and 6A will remain as 4 team districts and will only have 3 required games and 7 open to schedule how they please. 4. Top 6 of 8 teams in 1A-4A qualify for the tournament. This is based on district standings (win/loss column). 5. First week of the playoff the 1 and 2 seed from 1A-4A have a bye. The other games are seeded based on district standings. 6. Playoff matchups are not inter-district. We'll match closest districts for close as possible play. Higher seeds get the home games. I will use sectional 48 and 47 as examples. It gets a little funky since teams played different numbers of games due to COVID. In sectional 48, Springs Valley (lost to Eastern Green) and Rock Creek would have been eliminated. West Washington, Perry Central, North Decatur and Milan would have earned the byes. First round matchups would be: 48 #3 North Daviess vs. 47 #6 Cambridge City Lincoln 47 #3 Tri vs. 47 # 6 Springs Valley 48 #4 North Central vs. 47 #5 South Decatur 47 #4 Knightstown vs. 47 #5 Tecumseh The winner of the 47/48 region would face the winner of the 45/46 region, etc. As a whole in this scenario, 64 of 320 teams playing do not qualify for the playoffs. Therefore, 80% of eligible teams still participate in the playoffs. Each 7. These districts can be redrawn every 2-3 years to adjust based on changing enrollments. I really think a scenario like this will increase competition, reduce the number of blowouts and lead to a better overall product.
