As hard as it ever is to pick against a Nick Hart team, I'm going with the Patriots in this one. The forecasted bad weather might limit the scoring some. Both teams are pretty balanced in their passing/rushing attack. Both QBs carry the ball 9-10 times per game. However, HH's Goldsberry averages about 10 ypc on his carries, while GS's Foster only averages around 4 ypc. The reason I think this difference could prove crucial is that, in addition to passing less in the weather, both teams may look to have as few handoffs as possible to limit TOs. And Jett is simply the more productive runner of the two. But, as this matchup usually is, I expect it to be a very competitive game between two talented, deep, well-coached, and highly-motivated teams. With the teams ranked #2 and #3 in the 3A, it should be an even more electric atmosphere than it normally is. I'll go... I was thinking the same thing....If you have Valpo ranked then Mishawaka and Penn need to be in there....However, Penn doesn't deserve to be looked at for the rest of the year. The only way they pull themselves out of this mess is if they win their sectional. Mishawaka is being punished for getting beat by an undefeated Concord who is only 24th on this list while Valpo is sitting at 14? BRO look at the results please.

Week 6! Concord at NorthWood: NorthWood got by Northridge with some people out of the game...and to a really good kick. Concord may be undefeated, however, 3 of those victories can with a combined point total of 5. If I were a betting man, I would say Concord, however, I am going to take an upset here. Northwood at home 31 Concord 28 Goshen at Wawasee: This will be a boring game. Two teams that are not that great going at it. I am taking Goshen as I just don't see the Wawasee team buying into their new offense yet. Goshen 28 Wawasee 14 Northridge at Mishawaka: This could be another possible upset. Northridge hasn't played any misdirection offenses as of yet, so I don't know if their defense is up to the challenge of stopping it. I am taking Mishawaka at home. Mishawaka 35 Northridge 17 Plymouth at Warsaw: While Plymouth has made a lot of progress...this isn't the year they will compete with Warsaw. This week's NLC games: Friday, Sep. 27 Concord at NorthWood ©, 7 pm Goshen at Wawasee ©, 7 pm Northridge at Mishawaka ©, 7 pm Plymouth at Warsaw ©, 7 pm My week 6 predictions: Concord 28 Northwood 12 (All field goals): This game has potential to be a trap game for the Minutemen, however they have proven that they belong on the top of the NLC. I would be surprised if Northwood won, but how about that kicker! Goshen 34 Wawasee 28: These two teams better get fired up, because it might be either one's only win of the season. I think Wawasee is the better team, but the Bart Ball bites them in the butt late in the game when they need to pass. The Redhawks get their ONLY win of the season. Northridge 21 Mishawaka 35: Northridge is probably the best 1-4 team in the state. This could be close, but the Raiders seem to not be able to seal the deal this year. Mishawaka is the better team. Plymouth 0 Warsaw 42: Another game that doesn't really help Warsaw prepare for tournament time. The Tigers win easily.

It’s very hard to provide what coaches, fans, etc., call “consistency,” in a play where, literally, every play is unique. And there is general agreement that PI is among the hardest calls to officiate, at every level. There are 6 categories of DPI, and we are taught that if you can’t fit the action into one of these 6 categories, keep the flag in your pocket: Playing through the back. Hook and turn. Playing the man instead of the ball. Grabbing the arm. The cutoff or arm bar. Early contact. Speaking specifically of “tangled feet,” the philosophy is well defined. If the players are running even with one another and they tangle feet, no foul. If the defender is in the trail position and they tangle feet, it is only a foul for DPI if the receiver is looking for the ball and the defender isn’t. If neither is looking for the ball, it’s never a foul.

Yeah the residents of Jennings County will be heartbroken when the pregame homecoming parade through downtown North Vernon gets canceled.
