  1. I confess to being endlessly fascinated by the tragic/comic soap opera that is the Dallas Cowboys. Having done nothing of any significance for 30 years, Jerry still maintains they are America’s Team … and the most recent valuation of the franchise seems to bear that out. A lot of my fascination consists of staring, open-mouthed in astonishment, at the latest display from the owner/GM/face of the franchise. How a guy can be so successful in business, and not be self-aware enough to realize he’s a major impediment to on-field success, continues to escape me. The alternative, of course, is that winning is subordinate to economic success in Jerry’s priorities.

  2. Wouldn't that decision be better left to the parents? BTW...its not a hypothetical, I know that family and thats exactly what they went through. "Johnny" also has 2 younger siblings that figured into that calculus. So it wasn't just about him, it was mainly about both parents being able to be around for all 3 kids, and not have one of them in the car or at work most of their waking hours. Some families are ok with one parent having a long commute and not being available for transporting to kids to activities or attending events. Good for them if that works! This familty wanted something different. And Good for them too! You don't want your kid to have to be at three schools in 4 years. Good for you! But the IHSAA or DOE having the ability to limit a kid to having to sit "regardless of the situation" is not something I'm on board with. And keep in mind, I'm talking about an entire family making an actual adress change each time.

  3. Your judgment about what is best for that kid is not better than his/her parent(s) judgment. That is the problem with the IHSAA sticking its nose into eligibility.

  5. Tom Osborne passed away last Thursday. Here is a link to his obituary. https://www.pdclarion.com/obituaries/local_obituaries/thomas-paul-osborne/article_7cc40f11-9b61-5989-8c09-2cec3ba1d831.html

  7. This is a never-ending debate within the officiating community. The contrary argument is that the current system incentivizes all official’s to do their best, without being “penalized” by another crew member’s deficiencies.

  8. Agree. Somebody better mark that down.

  9. Yeah. Definately an interesting argument. I was listening tomore of it today and he mentioned a lot of the NFL franchises don't really talk to each other. They're mostly private and keep everything in house. Interviewing a lot of candidates is a greaty way to collect data from the otherside. And obviously vet people. I absolutely love that he says Kevin has been instrumental in providing George with guidance and teaching him how an NFL team should look. Smith says he knows what the inside looks like for all 32 teams and he thinks Chicago has finally figured it out. Winning the public perception in the offseason doesn't win games, but it sure is nice to see some very positive news coming out of Halas Hall lately.

  10. I'm all for this bill. I'd support a bill that stripped the IHSAA of all power except to run tournaments.

  11. “I swear to God” it was more recent than the 70’s.

  12. North Daviess moved up after winning 1A to 3A. Didn't read this far. They dropped back to 1A.

  13. In a 4 year span for that to happen and have your kid change to three schools over that time than maybe the family should just wait until Johnny finishes high school before moving. Being on your 3rd high school in three years would be a negative learning experience for Johnny anyway. Athletics should not be the number one issue and if it is then the family would stay in Avon so he could play.

  14. Yep, pretty much been to every Memorial game (home and away) since 1994. Don't recall any VL fans ever sitting on our side. That probably wouldn't make the top 5 of things I've seen in those 30 years though. I'm sure we all could make a list.

  15. @TigerFan20 Thank you for the correction - I was going based off that document the IHSAA provided and was confused myself but then didn't dig in further to check if they already had this past season, like I'd assumed.

  16. Have you ever been to a game there? Where home fans sit on the visitor side and then instigate stuff? I’ve seen it. Makes no sense because the home side stands are half full.

  17. Memorial was in 3A last season, since they only had 2 total points in the 2022 and 2023 Cycle. And was dropped down back to 3A last year due to the IHSAA changing the success factor points (2 points to 3 points) in the Summer of 2023.

  18. Yes - due to the success factor rolling 2-year accumulation as opposed to a set 2-year cycle. However - note that the changes are still for two years. Meaning, if you move up or down, you are locked in for two years into that class. https://www.ihsaa.org/sites/default/files/documents/Tournament Success Factor.pdf https://www.ihsaa.org/sites/default/files/documents/Football TSF 2024-25.pdf Moving UP next the next two seasons: - Decatur Central will move from 5A to 6A for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons after accumulating 7 points the last two seasons. - New Palestine will move from 4A to 5A for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons after accumulating 6 points the last two seasons. - Heritage Hills will move from 3A to 4A for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons after accumulating 7 points the last two seasons. Staying UP next season: - Cathedral will stay in 6A according to the link I shared... but I don't understand why? The last two seasons in 6A, they only accumulated 1 point. The reason they were in 6A this past season is because they accumulated 3 points in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 two year cycle, but now with the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 two year cylce, they are only at 1 point, which should drop them to 5A. Can anyone confirm that I've missed something? - Fort Wayne Snider will stay in 6A for their second year of the 2-year bump up cycle. They would have to win a Semi State Championship to remain in 6A after this season. - East Central will stay in 5A for their second year of the 2-year bump up cycle. They would have to win a Regional Championship to remain in 5A after this season. They have no path to 6A. - Chatard will stay in 4A for their second year of the 2-year bump up cycle. With their Sectional Championship this year, they will need to win at least a Regional Championship this upcoming season to stay in 4A. They have no path to 5A. - Fort Wayne Bishop Luers will stay in 3A for their second year of the 2-year bump up cycle. Of note, they are now a 3A school by enrollment anyway, so will likely stay in 3A for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 seasons. However, if they win a Semi State Championship this upcoming season, they will bump to 4A for those next two seasons due to accumulating at least 6 points in 3A. - Adams Central will stay in 2A for their second year of the 2-year bump up cycle. Of note, they are now a 2A school by enrollment anyway, so will likely stay in 2A for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 seasons. However, if they win a Regional Championship this upcoming season, they will bump to 3A for those next two seasons due to accumulating at least 6 points in 2A. - Indianapolis Lutheran will stay in 2A for their second year of the 2-year bump up cycle. They would have to win a Sectional Championship to remain in 2A after this season. They could bump to 3A for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 seasons if they win a State Championship this upcoming season. - Lafayette Central Catholic will stay in 2A next season due to accumulating 3 points during the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons. They will need to win a Regional Championship this season to stay in 2A for the 2026-2027 season, otherwise they will bump back down to 1A. Dropping DOWN next season: - Evansville Memorial will be dropping down from 4A to 3A for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons because they only accumulated 1 point the previous two seasons in 4A. I think that's it - please someone add/correct me if anything is wrong here.

  20. Good question. The latest description of a Colts lease agreement I could quickly find was from 2005: https://www.wthr.com/article/news/colts-stadium-deal-who-gets-what/531-7af19a1b-d9bd-4160-b152-325649ab4da3 I would suspect any newer lease agreements to have similar wording. And I really don't care about the NBA, and this is the best I could quickly find regarding the Pacers latest deal with the Indianapolis CIB: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/26507246/pacers-reach-deal-keep-team-indianapolis
